--build branches from here. i think at this point i choose between void staff, zhonya and rylai. obviously void staff is if you're being very offensive and not afraid of dying. rylai is better than zhonya for pushing imo. it depends on what champs are on your team i guess. popping zhonya when their whole team targets you (which they will, if you give them a chance) can easily win a team fight (you will die anyway though)
--i'll eventually get a lich bane. at that point in the game it's basically like having another ability. huge fucking nuke with your 500+ (sometimes 700+) AP. and of course you are casting enough that it's always going off so learn to see the buff icon in the corner of your eye and you'll know when to let a regular attack go

and you can upgrade tear to archangel staff with extra gold

i might mess around with deathfire grasp a bit to see how it goes but i usually dont feel like i need that extra nuke

R>E>W>Q imo. by midgame, if you can let Rank 5 E's bounce into them with your R active, you are going to be a monster. a lot of Q's dmg is from mana pool and AP so im not so concerned about ranking it up. but a ranked up W can be the difference between your team getting a kill or letting your target get away.

for fights, stay way the fuck back. as soon as you can safely cast an E on someone that'll then bounce to someone else, do it. hit R right when it arrives to its first target. cast your Q and W on their carry if you can. if not, you have some choices: cast them where they'll do the most splash damage, cast your W to disable one of their melee champs, cast your Q and W on the person that's closest to you and run away!

remember they're probably going to target you first because you probably do the most damage and you have a soulstealer. running away is often your best move lol. wait until they use some abilities, get committed to the fight, and are caught up in your teammates. then turn around and do 1000+ AE damage

for a 1v1 fight against a ranged person, make sure you're close to them so your E can bounce between you and them. if you dont do that, there's almost no chance you're going to win the fight. if they are melee, use your judgment on whether or not you want to get close to them. if you can blow him up, obviously do it. otherwise, cast W and run away and dont think twice about whether or not you missed an opportunity.

i like kayle better than ryze though :D
