I dunno, in my case when I play, especially if I'm playing something that forces me to talk (tanks with long cds) I end up directing people places etc. which FORCES me to talk, and so when I'm rambling stream of consciousness for 30 plus minutes it's inevitable that I'll start muttering and such. And because I'm not actually doing anything except thinking outloud, I'll start snapping at people and so on and so forth without realizing that my tone of voice has gotten a lot more aggressive and abrasive. So, I prefer to lay off of voice chat. It's at the point where I'm fine listening to people but I'm much more comfortable typing what I meant to say, and I've been solo queueing so much it's become habit.
At this exact moment (or rather the past month) I've also had my annual coughing spree so I'm pretty unintelligible in voice chat, too.
Edit: I'll be up when the server goes up, I think, so if you're still around we should two-queue ranked for a bit o/

Until level like, 13 you're not gonna put a point into W anyways - this was not really going to change whether they changed W or not. You need that nuking power, and you need it fast (because his damage output plummets late-game). Not to mention, level 1 W gives you 4 mana back. Wheeeeoooooh maybe if you strike 15 times you'll get enough for one spell. Except that takes like 15 seconds with his monstrous attack speed. Yeah, um, no.
Now one thing you might consider is to get it early to charge Pulse (like Annie getting early shield to charge stun) but IMO Annie's Shield at level 1 is really handy, whereas a whole whopping 4 mana return (or 7 armor penentration wheeeooooooh) off an autoattack you hardly use is like pbbbt.
Honestly? I don't mind, though, as I've been pining AGAINST a "kassadin buff" because he's ridiculously strong as is and doesn't need to get into the spotlight.
You need to think a bit further. Kassadin has 2 Problems: Lousy laning phase and Manaproblems. The redesigned W will help in in the laning phase by letting him avoid it - just go jungle. It also allows him to gain Mana (tripple gain against Champs) in Fights for more Riftwalking.
Also the passive basically means that for example under a Sunfire he gains 6% Attackspeed per second until he caps at 2.5 Attacks per second.

His laning is fine, it's just hit or miss. Even Annie will have bad laning if she's not paired with a proper partner, or if the other lane simply is more dominating. Luckily Kassadin has some crazy lane combos, but if that fails he's still capable of holding his own and surviving until level 6.
* Passive: the mana drain component removed and replaced with a flat 4/8/12/16/20 mana restore on hit. This effect returns triple the mana against champions. * Active: Kassadin gains 7/15/25/38/50 Armor Penetration for 5 seconds. 15 second cooldown. 30/40/50/60/70 mana cost. Activating this ability counts as a spell cast for the purposes of Force Pulse.
Mana problems are not fixed by getting 4 mana per hit (12 on champs). I'm sorry, but if you think that's going to help at all you're delusional. The majority of heroes you run into are going to hit much harder if you try to autoattack, so most of the autoattacking you do is cleanup (attack + animation cancel as you chase, waiting for cd) or potshots (random hits you might land on a melee hero who messed up hit and run timing on creep). This is unreliable. Not to mention you shouldn't be autoattacking creep during laning, if you can even hit creep at all if you're losing a lane. If you're winning a lane it's a "win more" option, which isn't really useful because the extra ~45 damage from a higher level of burst is probably a better option. If you're losing a lane it does diddly because you're obviously not going to hit anything to gain back mana. And that's assuming you sit on level 1, which I don't advocate anyways because the mana return is piddling, and I prefer a strong nuke than a slightly faster pulse charge.
I hope you're joking about jungling.
As for attack speed, no one cared about the attack speed boost from his passive before, and no one does still. Oh, sorry, except for the newbies going DPS or Hybrid. He's far too brittle to be autoattacking en masse.
Edit: Oddly enough I feel the speed increase on Sphere is a nerf. You can't harass tower-huggers as cleanly anymore.
Honestly unless I'm in a tryhard premade or with 3+ players that I know personally I hate being in vent with other people. I know it improves coordination, but it also improves raging, whining, bitching, and arguing.
So true... it seems to me like everyone hates vent lol.
I also prefer typing and pinging. Well, technically I don't have a choice because my mic sucks so bad but yeah. I also dislike 5 man because everything seems so personal than as compared to solo queue. It also kind of sucks when you're solo queue and you get paired with someone you know and the pressures on for you not to fail.
And that's why I love solo queue with random chinese/korean people!
Hey South how do you fair in the laning phase when you're not with Soraka? Because really that's the only time I ever see a Kassadin succeed in the laning phase...
I've never meet with raging, bitching or whining on TL vent among such players like Makali, Tommo, Madkipz, Mattejko or others. Guys are awesome and friendly, so I enjoy speaking on vent a lot ;]

It depends on lane comp. For instance tonight I had a lane vs Garen + Ezreal, and I beat them because the Ezreal couldn't stop me from harassing the Ezreal and Ezreal loses to Kassadin early-on (especially if he misses too many shots). Meanwhile I had a game a few weeks ago against Panth TF that I should have won but my lane partner fed, so I had to stay back.
As Kassadin though you don't need to "win" a lane, you just need to live, because the most important thing early on isn't money but levels. I can towerhug all game and AFK (just making sure not to die) and I'd look mostly the same as if I were to hyperactively try to maintain lane presence.
Edit: I'm sure if I put more emphasis on getting gold I might be able to do a bit better early-game, but I tend to favour fucking someone over (like that Ezreal). I gained nothing from those first 10 minutes, but I gimped their Ezreal really badly and took him out of relevance. By the time I started rolling with Soulstealer and GA he was just fresh food.
So you first claim laining is fine and then explcitably detail why it sucks for Kassadin. The manaregain and Armorpenetration is only relevant if you attack constantly which only happens while jungling. It´s the only case where the change makes sense.

?
Annie is considered a superb laner.
Lane with something like Shen, though, and run against an Ashe/Ezreal combo 2v2, and you are pretty fucked. It won't really affect the game anyways, however, unless you feed your lane, because an Annie with 0 gold at level 9 is almost as effective as an Annie with 1000 gold (roughly 70 creep kills).
Kassadin's laning is fine because he doesn't need to gain much from it, as opposed to stuff like tanks and DPS that really rely on the first 10-15 minutes of a game to snowball and get as much money as possible - it's why tanks favour jungling, as for a certain amount of time you have a "guaranteed" income and you can plan out your first 1500 or so gold. You can lose a lane and still suffice with Kassadin, that's the perk of a nuker like Annie.
Jungling Kassadin is a joke, and that's why this change doesn't actually do anything. No one's going to jungle Kassadin, and the skill is still as worthless as before. You, on the other hand, are trying to make the skill useless by taking him into the jungle, at the cost of his nuking power. Wat?
Edit: On a slightly more reasonable note, On the official forum some people are talking about building him hybrid, which makes me groan heavily. Does anyone actually think it might be viable? Because I don't see it, the guy just dies too fast.
Uh, Kassadin is a Hard AP Carry. He needs A LOT Gold. Are you playing him as disabler? I honestly don´t understand how Kassadin doesn´t need Gold. Or Annie for that matter. Also I never saw a good jungling Tank, Tanks are the ones that can get away with a bad lane the most. One of the perks of Junglers is that they can pop up anywhere, thus I´d rather have a ganker as Jungler. Kassadins Jungling IS a joke which is a shame because he in theory would be the ideal candidate. I just hope this patch changes that.
Triforce on Kassadin would be pretty fun(ny). I do see how jungle kassadin would be amazing if he could ever get to 6. I don't know, with his w charging up his E more I guess he could do it... maybe?

How would you get there? At level 1 his Q does 70 damage, which is barely better than his autoattack. So to maximize damage you'd probably have to start with W, with its awesomesauce 7 armorpen, and just autoattack everything. Eventually you'll hit level 2, at which point you can add Q to the equation, which gives you 70 damage. Or you could get E, with its AoE 80, but you'd have to charge W 5 times so that's not really happening. etc. etc. And of course all of this will help tons when a double-buff warwick/shaco comes knocking on your door, because they kinda kill jungle faster.
Smite and 7 armour pen and pray to god you can kill golem at level 1? I dunno chug a fort pot or something hahaha. And then forget Q altogether until like like 5, just straight up W, E, E, W, Q.
Alright that's retarded... yeah I'm not seeing this working at all.
And to think of it jungle kassadin would just be a slower/worse ganker than jungle shaco anyway.
