I agree with you about tier 3, but that's also cause I play Panth like a boss and if I didn't think he at least had the potential to be viable, I would stop wasting my time. to be perfectly honest, I think the tier lists with fairly even spread of champions across 5 tiers are ridiculous. I think it's like, 2-3 tier 1 characters at a given time. 5-6 tier 2 characters. 5-6 tier 4 characters, 2-3 tier 5 characters and a huge fucking mass of tier 3 guys.

My tiers are as follows:

Tier 1: Very strong, if not OP, chars. TF was here before his nerfs, as was Shen. Same with Ezreal. Janna I wasn't as convinced about, but I think a lot of people put her here not long ago. Jax was definitely here after his buff and before his nerf.

Tier 2: Good chars. I smile when I see these show up in champion selection. Good tanks (Malph, Shen, and Alistair mostly) show up here, as do the best casters (Annie and Fiddle, really).

Tier 3: Most chars. They can be good, they can be bad, and they comprise the majority of LoL's champions. Panth is firmly here in my mind, but so are supports like Zilean and Morgana, mediocre tanks like Singed, etc.

Tier 4: Handicapped characters. Tryndamere, Evelynn, etc. show up here. These chars CAN win, but I frown if I see them on my team. If there are 2 or more of them on my team, I may dodge.

That's it. 4 tiers, no evenness between them, and each tier has a specific meaning. Any distinction smaller than these seems too situational in my mind (is Gangplank better than Shaco? I don't care: the difference between them is totally drowned out in the noise of player skill, team comp, etc.). Note that the tiers aren't even symmetric. I've never seen a char who simply never wins. Even Eve will occasionally find a couple feeders and get enough burst to be annoying. Therefore, no tier 5.

again, good shacos really really impress me and I think their impact on the late game surpasses almost everyone else's. seriously on 12K gold, can anyone beat a shaco with bloodrazors, starks, GA, Aegis, Treads 1v1(2)? getting to that point is hard as hell and what differentiates a good shaco from a q-dodge shaco is their ability to get there, but at that point, he just seems completely fucking bonkers.

Probably because the duplicate from Shaco's ult also emits the aura's, which gives both Shaco and his clone double the benefit from each aura. (Auras can only stack if two persons both carry the same aura item)

stacks with itself with your clone. it's the last item and could probably be something better, but with the double aura, it's like, +270 health, +16 damage, +42 Armor, + 54 MR for pretty cheap. The reason I used it in that example was to keep it around a 12K budget and the fact I've seen it on a couple shacos:
3800 Bloodrazors
1200 Mercs
2550 Starks
2600 GA
1925 Aegis

I imagine they get it because they need something reasonably priced so that they can keep up a double or triple elixir pump after GA and you already do way more than enough damage, so the goal is something for survivability that's on the lower end and with your clone, aegis wins in efficiency.

I didn't know that, I thought UNIQUE meant it didn't stack under any circumstances. So getting 2 Aegis/Starks/whatever isn't so bad in solo queues when communication is low.

it's not great, but it's not the end of the world either. the reason Shaco barely cares is that he's always off on his own anyway, so the fact that you're only giving your clone and yourself the double benefit hardly matters cause they're the only ones around most of the time anyway. it also helps with solo shaco pushes.

auras are weird in that they recently changed even the powerful ones like Soul Shroud and Stark's to stack a personally aura with another ally's aura.

unique auras will only stack on people who have the item. they dont stack on ppl who dont, its still not the best idea to get multiple of the same aura items on a single team, but its also not the end of the world, and with shaco, its just core.

So I just quit a game for the first time. I have a 2:1 win loss, and level 17. I join a game, and am going mid. I know Kayle isn't the best in the world at it, but I've done it dozens of times and there was not a better character on our team to do it. I go mid, and strangely our fucking Yi follows me mid. We tell him to go top with the Malphite who was alone, and he doesn't respond. We keep telling him to go fucking top, and he sits there. Then minions spawn, and as soon as the announcement is made he bull rushes the turret and tries to take it down and gets like, two shotted then bitches about how he can't snipe turrets or w/e.

Fuck this matchmaking.
