Hand checking was real fair...not.
Should clarify that I am for consistency, if you're going to call a game, just call it the same throughout the game. The players can adapt and adjust to that.

Yeah this is like the first time I've ever thought, "the refs are doing a good job today."

Wtf is dpoy? Is it that hard to type it all out? Anyway 80s games were so physical that it's almost like the wwe with all the clothslining and body slamming

dpoy = defensive player of the year. And yes, it is a bitch to type all of that.

yep i dont know maybe I just like things rough but I liked it like that. And I'd like to point out the large discrepancy between then and now. 80's--knocking down your opponents, now--Bump on the way up=foul
I mean hand check like the person above mentioned are obvious fouls or slapping some1's elbow not allowing the player to release the ball could be a foul but what really annoys me are those Hustle plays where people are scrambling for the ball and they call a foul for a bump here and there.
anyhoos..CELTICS IN 6!! W0000OT!!!!

Haha yeah Jeff Van Gundy said that; it was b/c after Nelson made that running layup after Lewis intentionally missed the FT, Kevin Garnett just took the ball and threw it to Ray Allen instead of giving the ball to the refs. GG

I didn't even get to watch the game today. I caught up on ESPN.com though. Even though I've never liked the Celtics I do feel they are playing the best of any team in the playoffs right now. Suns are playing good, but they can't compete with Boston's all around defense.

Man, I didn't know tony allen had THAT much hops. Dude has like a highlight throw down almost every game now

howard had some sick blocks in the fourth quarter watching him block ray allen's dunk attempt under the rim was just painful lol

Watching Howard struggle offensively was painful, like if Gasol or any other top offensive center caught it as close as he did under the rim, it would be easy 2 and possibly +1s. Some credit to Perkins, but still very finish-able positions for someone of Howard's size. Like Gortat was showing him up...

Hmm this is probably a dumb question but how would we know if certain players aren't taking drugs to increase their playing potential during these playoffs?
|
No idea to tell you the truth. I think it's probably because in basketball you play so much and are in the public eye way more than any other sport (everyone including other spectators can see you on court) that psychologically you'd be scared to even try it.
Afaik the NBA doesn't have any kind of big drug policy. If they do it's probably rarely talked about because NBA players don't do much besides smoke weed.

Actually, there is a big drug policy in the NBA. They started to enforce it heavily during the 90s because NBA players were so drugged up during the 80s (see Lenny Bias.) IIRC rashard Lewis was suspended a couple of games this season for violating the substance abuse policy. I also know Chris Anderson was kicked out for a season recently, and Lamar Odom had a brush with the commissioner for smoking pot.

Corticosteroids are completely allowed. Granted, you only need 1 and it should last a few months, but it should at least allow their knees and other joints to hold up for longer, and keep inflammation down. I believe the side effects are also worse, or at least more permanent than anabolic steroids.
Juan Dixon just got caught using steroids in international ball and as much as I love Lindsey Hunter, I don't believe a word of that story about his wife's diet pills.

Well, that was part of Stern's plan to rebuild the NBA's image, but it doesn't cover performance enhancing drugs. I remember in 2005, the House held a committee on the NBA's policies and they were severely criticized for them.

i want them to take drugs if they are getting paid millions of dollars, i want to see maximum entertainment, and healthy rosters and incredible strength is a good way to get that.

For Lindsey Hunter, it is really possible if the NBA tested for things like the NFL does where perhaps certain easy to obtain items might have a few banned things... but probably not. It is surprising those two do not even seem particularly like great athletes.

Unfortunately they have to be "role models." Personally, I agree with you.
