I want to see 600 foot HRs too. :D problem with this is that this would open up so much more opportunities of people with less skill to be able to play more competently. imagine someone not strong at all, can't hit a ball far, but can hit it accurately. put this guy on a tough steroid supplement, and then hed be hitting consistent all homeruns. it's just cheating, and is not healthy for a competitive sports environment imo

The essence of why sports are successful is that we (as fans) love to celebrate the spectacle of human physical achievement. I understand that modern training, nutrition, etc have made it much different than a few decades ago, but at some point you have to draw the line. The more "artificial" we make the game, the more "manufactured" the physical spectacles are, the less enjoyment we derive from watching sports.

Right now there's the legal barrier, but those laws aren't based on good data because the testing really hasn't been done. At the very least, I think you can wonder how big of a difference would it actually make? Would you actually be able to tell the difference?

The more "artificial" we make the game, the more "manufactured" the physical spectacles are, the less enjoyment we derive from watching sports. i understand your point and feel its a valid argument of course there are some things that cannot be programmed efficiently, which is decision making skills, showboating, and emotions (which drugs bring out !) now im not saying i want everyone jacked up on as much muscle building steroids that they can compete in the muscle building competitions and hard fouls are two biceps crashing together, no one wants this in basketball as we enjoy the finesse of the sport. Of course steroids can do a lot to bring a player back from injury quickly, and help you recover from hard work out sessions quickly so you can go back to slinging weights around. As far as a "doped up dwight" all the players now are "doped up" considering the eating regiment and whatnot they must stick to to be in form, whats wrong with giving them a little something something so their knee comes back and fans get what they paid for?
