Well, hori doesnt manufacture the buttons, I hear what you're saying.. a friend of mine is a complete monster.. im gonna have him put together a guide on sticks and throw it in here.

For instance, the madkat pad that was picked up by a poster earlier in this thread. Those are made with knockoff buttons, but I believe they are replaceable with some nice buttons. There's two main companies that make buttons, if I remember what he said correctly about it.

Tomorrow I'm gonna get him on the phone, we're a couple of e-buddies, and have him explain it to me and I'll get a write up about sticks and such involved.

K so i played a freaking TON today.

I want to marry x-23 god she is so sexy. QCF L M H S M H S QCF all three attacks, rinse and repeat

No exaggeration, this is the most fun I've had with a game since getting in to the SC2 beta, if not more fun, and I'm not even good at MvC3

My god. I decided to take this seriously and read up on every tutorial I could find (I was just going Street Fighter on people's asses) and there is just toooooooo muuuuuuuchhhhhhh information out there XD

Marvel 3 is like learning SF zoning with GG combos and Quake style movement LOL. I honestly think I can't remember everything.

Tomorrow is my first MvC3 Gathering and I know a couple of folks that have been playing for a while but that I really want to beat so wish me luck, I might have to pull an all-nighter just studying this like it's a goddamn exam.

There's a Sanwa JLF in the HRAP3 but the buttons are Hori. It's not a great stick by today's standards when there are fully Sanwa/Seimitsu sticks on the mass market. There's no need to have your buddy write a guide, all this stuff is pretty basic info and you can look up anything you want to know in the SRK tech talk forum.

I ran X-23 with Ankle slicer
Sentinel with standard drones
Phoenix with Trap assist

Tbh, Phoenix was shit, her trap assist is actually decent but I think I'd rather run Trish for a trap assist, or Doom, ro anything, I just didn't know the buttons for them since it was casual play

If I were able to go in training mode I'd have picked out a better team, but since there were lines and stuff it was just go in and go out.

God I love people on PSN getting so much hate mail from people getting rushed down 3-0 from Zero with Akuma assist.

lol, akuma hurricane kick assist+rushdown = gg

Look at justin wong's wolverine+akuma lol, so godlike

But yeah my team will 100% always have X-23 in it, I love that girl lol, and will probably ahve Sentinel, since i gotta be cheap, 3rd is undecided as of now

Oh btw, the button layout for MvC3 works really well for a pad, just thought I'd mention that. Way better than SSF4 ever could have done.

Its actually really playable on pad, although still, a fight stick will always be better.

Why not use akuma as 3rd? Like you said akuma's assist is great for rush downs and x-23 fits right into that role

I tried Akuma, problem with him as my 3rd is like

825k hp X-23
1300k hp sentinel
800k hp akuma

team is way too squishy, x-23 already dies too fast.

I sorta want someone midlevel beefy. So if I can pick up a TronBonne, Wesker, Taskmaster (although I really don't like the way the character looks so probably not him), then I'd want them. Problem is Wesker really has no chemistry with x-23 sent. X-23 and Wesker are both sorta point characters. So we'll see.

I don't own a console/stick/tv or anything here in college so i won't be playing much anyways so its not a big deal. I just love X-23

X-23 is great. She's just so fast and can get in there pretty quick. She also destroys face in x-factor mode.

If they just removed bonus damage from x-factor it wouldn't be so broken

pick morrigan with the meter building assist. if you consistantly do it x-23 ceomes even more powerful.

or tron's flame assist to help make moves safe.

I tried the morrigan meter build assist as well, i actually mashed pretty well, since her super locks in and her level 3 and shit are so baller.

That said, I didn't really like the play with her either. I need something to keep X-23 safe, I kinda die with her too quick. Tron's assist is more appealing cuz I think Tron is pretty baller.

And yes, Ryu is the #1 assist raper lol, but i REALLY think he's just in every way worse than akuma as a point character. The only thing Ryu has going is his super which can be spammed and destroy assist and do good chip, but Akuma can do that just fine too.

I'm just not a fan of Ryu in general

bionic commando's better at assist murder. and he is very good. biionic arm is just nuts.

EDIT: lol you can bionic arm to interrupt a few supers as well as assists, and bionic arm 3 times in a row with x factor, killing the assist + point (except sent)

I can't play this with a PS3 controller. The D-pad gives me blister and using the left analog stick is a pain in the ass.
