And ionno, I think Storm's hailstorm doens't do as much to assists as ryu's hadouken or spencers bionic arm. Storm is okay now but she's really just a VERY average character now. Startup on hail storm is too long anyways, to properly rape assists.

Gotta get myself a arcane stick for sure. Just so i can continue to play!

She's the best at absolutely murdering assists, but you have to bait it and be looking for it more. Chars like Ryu are much better at actually punishing assists, but for a bit less damage than Storm might do. Tempted to switch from Sent/Storm/Chun to Sent/Storm/Dante now. Both anchors are solid, Dante's assist seeming a little more useful. The Jam Session aka Captain Commando assist is pretty neat, feels like I'm still playing team santhrax =) Can even combo into jam session into hailstorm, mvc2 style. That combo makes me feel awesome every time.

1/3 bar for free? THX. shit's so hard to punish too, after she flashes she is totally invincible added benefit is that morrigan is monster character to clutch shit out. she does a fuckton of really safe damage, and xfactor level 2 or 3 she can totally lock someone in blockstun with mirror image + fireballs

Have you seen the spencer vs 3 vid? lvl 3 x factor spencer has to get hit once to die, so the other player triple supers, bionic arm x2 kills everyone before they can even move.

Interesting point that it could blow someone up with xfactor, but not once they realize to simply not call assists or do random slow startup ground stuff. Is hsienko's gold assist significantly better than just using Haggar's lariat? Legitimate question, I haven't played against either all too much yet. Is hers just impossible to punish outside of big aoe damage kind of supers? I know it goes across the screen, which is a very nice difference, but committing your first char to burning your first meter and attempting to safely tag doesn't seem to be working out well for people consistently. I naturally doubt in assists like that because people had the same idea with mecha zangeif in marvel 2, didn't work out ![]()

Akuma tatsu assist is godlike for cornering people. Push block it all you want, it pushes you right into that corner so all you need to do is dash cancel a couple times and contain a superjump... and if you don't push block it's time for triangle jump mixups, teleport crossups and whatever else your character has in their bag of tricks. When using an assist that has multiple hits it's always important to remember that you have to block it like it came from a point character, so if you cross over their head the assist hits crossup now. So if you have a character with 8 way air dash you can effectively mixup with down/forward dash into overhead/low and forward dash into crossup. The crossup is normally easy to spot, but with an assist already in play and attacking it becomes very viable. The trick is finding a way to train someone to not push block, because if you push it you can't really crossup like that unless you time it to the first hit of the assist really nasty like. My thoughts on Haggar or Hsienko as an assist for invincibility... Plus I threw another name into the hat. Hsien-Ko gold assist is pretty solid, you just have to be careful about managing her health because she still takes full damage for being an assist in red health. Notably costs a meter, but I think it was rashan that popularized using her as a point then doing her projectile, super and tag to open with it safely. Haggar assist is fully invincible and costs some red health every time regardless of if he gets hit. That one has shorter range. So if you were to look at it from a pure functionality point of view if you want an assist to help stop rushdown Haggar would be ideal and if you need an assist to open up characters at midscreen hsienko would be ideal. Hsienko is also a very solid lockdown assist, so you if you have a teleport character you can teleport during it to create a crossup or triangle jump to create a mixup (not as viable against people who will consistently push it, but noteworthy all the same). Basically it can be useful in every way sentinel drones are for lockdown in addition to being invincible. Just don't hit it when someone does a projectile super at full screen or she is going to get deaded. The other thing to consider is when you use an assist for invincibility you inevitably end up with that character running anchor. I really feel Haggar is a much better anchor, especially for beginning players. The normal jump pipe is a great way to shut down rushdown with easy hit confirms into simple combos for nice damage. Not quite sentinel, but for a dude with an assist that beats everything he is as close as it gets. Tron is another notable assist character. Her pressure game as anchor is pretty nice, she can hit multiple supers in a corner (can you say x factor comeback?) and her assist is good for both nullifying projectiles and defensive purposes. I haven't gotten to testing much in practice mode for her lately because I have been too involved in making trish a viable point character, but from what I have seen in videos it's invincible enough to beat most of everything. I am pretty sure projectile supers will still get her rocked unlike haggar/hsienko. Before someone up and says hsienko gets rocked by projectile supers that is a matter of her health pool and the range of the super... That has a good deal of range and if she lives to cross the gap one tap will stop all projectile supers. I don't get how people say trish is a keepaway character. Traps or no traps, she can't run range on anyone with a good projectile without needing to use supers to beat them up at range. That and her assists are kinda balls for dealing with pressure. I do have to say she has really good DHC potential with almost everyone in the cast, that qcb super is an easy way to tack on an extra meter worth of damage and then be able to lay a trap and tag to the character of your choice. The qcf one is still great for DHC with a lot of combos, but depending on if you hit the person standing you may be missing a lot of hits and it also doesn't give you the option to change point to whoever you want. I really think she is going to end up a rushdown character... Her mixups feel really solid. Time will tell
