"This game has incredible unbelievable depth. It stands up to its predecessor, generally considered to be one of the best (if not the best) fighting games of all-time. But the game doesn't have additional game modes, so I'm giving it an 8.5-out-of-10."
Because IGN and allt hose review sites rate games based on the casual player, not the competitive palyer lol, same shit for starcraft 2 (although sc2 deserves it )
But yeah they pump up mvc3's dick way bigger than it should be

I'm not really opposed to the idea of reviewing a competitive game shortly after its release, but there's no way you can play a good fighting game and come to a consensus on how well it plays after twenty hours. I refuse to believe it.
The hardcore crowd is going to get it no matter what score it gets. IGN made their review for a casual audience. Given this, that score is completly fair.

"Even characters that at first seem powerful, like Devil May Cry's Dante, fit well into the balanced roster." This review just lost its credibility
Well, its definitely a more balanced roster than MvC2 (so far), I mean like we've been saying, every character has viability, just that Sentinel is fucking insane lol

For some reason the 24-hour Walmart by me did not have any copies. And the Gamestop, which was 30 minutes away wasn't going to stay open long enough for me to get over there....needless to say, neither place held the tournies...and I didn't get my game Q.Q
Dude, I just watched that video and went thru some stuff, thats Seb Rhee? Lol he's like best friends with my cousin, lol holy crap I never really correlated that Seb isn't a common name wow. I saw a picture of him commentating for something and was like omg I know him. woooow
Players are always going to complain about any game being more user-friendly. There are very few games out there being developed that provide an extreme challenge for players.
User-friendliness and challenge have nothing to do with each other. You can make very easy games that are hard to play solely because the controls are terrible or unintuitive. Similarly, you can make very challenging games that have simple, intuitive interfaces.
There are many, many games made that are hard. Especially nowadays, with so much indie crap out there. It's easy to make something hard; it's much more difficult to make something with legitimate challenge. Challenge imposed by the rules of gameplay rather than arbitrary fiat.

As someone who is a casual player of MvC, I'm calling BS on this.
The bitching about having "lost 20 characters," for example. I don't give a shit. What we gained was unique characters. No more clones. Number of characters is not a problem, so long as you have a lot of diversity of characters and play styles. That's all the casual player wants: to be able to play different characters.
And then there's his "Even Marvel vs. Capcom 2 extended its life by allowing players to "purchase" characters using in-game points," comment. Nobody, casual or competitive alike, enjoyed having to play through the game over and over just to play the characters you really wanted to play. They did it because they had to. But making more characters unlockable does not make the game better in any way, shape, or form.
So no; this review is not for casual players. It's not for competitive players either. It's for idiots.
I like the game. All the characters are pretty well rounded in terms of skill cap, and this is a good thing, but it WILL receive a lot of blow back from the more hardcore players of mvc2 for this reason. Whats more important is that since most of the characters are similar tier wise that means more variety of team compositions (Once the top tier characters are more fleshed out then we will probably see some more of that) but it will definitely have a much wider variety of styles than mvc2. The game is fun and definitely has the potential to be competitive, I had to just laugh when people say its not as deep as mvc2 (Sentinel vs Sentinel 2: The New Age of Sentinels).
Any European have the game yet? I'm trying to get a hold of the game but I'm afraid I wont be able to do so until the 18th. Looking for people to train with though (I'm a total scrub).
Will we be making a list in the first post with Xbox/PSN names of TL members that play the game?
I was going to pick this up for lunch and hopefully get 30 mins with it, but my boss wants to take my out for lunch. Now I'll have to wait till after work argh!
