Ashe is a solid choice as well, but you need to be more careful with her, since she is squishy.
Teleport / Flash <- mandatory
I usually go:
1. Sapphire
2. Catalyst
3. Boots
4. Pickaxe / BF sword
5. Mobility boots
6. Finish IE
7. Banshee / Last whisper
Ult, Volley, Frost shot, Plentiful bounty that is your priority. You can also lvl plentiful up, but make sure you take 1 frost and volley.

ive been playing sion recently and doing surprisingly well. I start off with vampiric scepter and lvl enrage above all else. Then i get malady=> berserker's greaves=>soulsteal=>then bloodthirster
This works really good, and im rune stacked with attack speed.

You probably should look to a more tanky Sion at one point but if it works for you for the ppl ur facing against by all means go for it

well, I just played a game where our ashe, solo mid, WENT TIAMAT'S BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE (INCLUDING BOOTS). she fed pantheon (panth mid on a team with silvir, LOL) to be 4 levels ahead all game. uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhgfajasdlfjasdfjalksdjflkasdjflkasjdfasjfdlk I hate solo queueing sometimes.

How about Jax solo instead of: Cho'gath, Sivir, Zilean, or Twitch?
plus our Sivir managed to feed their Annie four kills by 15 minutes.

A few games back we had a TF who complained about lag after feeding three kills before ten minutes. He afk'd for a few minutes, came back, and after being flamed by our Cho'gath proceeded to actively feed (run into enemy gank squads) until 25 minutes. It was depressing, but luckily Winners' League was going on so I watched that instead.

I also really hate solo queuing, but even more so I hate queuing with a premade and then having it fail. Just played a 4 man premade with anivia and I was iirc 14-0 before I died to a pathfinding glitch (while running away from the enemy team my champion decided to spin in circles endlessly no matter how much I clicked) and lost 6 stacks of mejai's. The rest of my team was doing god-awful (0-9, 2-10, etc) and they had all been feeding the enemy shaco to kingdom come. Ended up getting raped because I couldn't carry my entire team on my back. Then I felt like I couldn't yell at them for being awful because they were on my friends list when they were making stupid moves like running by themselves for a 1v1 with shaco because they were so greedy to try to kill him (which is retarded vs shaco since he'll always deceive away).

Ive always just viewed AP Sion as a mess around build for my smurf :/ You only become really effective if you are fed and farmed enough to start making using of the great lich bane procs. If you go a tanky dps route I feel you can contribute more in a teamfight using ur ult and strong natural damage along with trinity procs from shield/stun.

I rarely lose with AP sion...just went 28-8-11 and still lost with him =/ think im like 20-2 now since i started using him.

Oh man I hate going into solo queue and absolutely wrecking everyone all game then getting aced and losing every tower and your nexus while you're dead because the other team's only positive player is tristana who's absolutely stacked out in dps.

That just fucking happened to us. Just 1 mis-timed team fight and the little bitch survived to push our last two towers. Bleh.

god... playing against campy heimers is so annoying. I think I'm pretty good at rolling them with teemo at this point, but it's still absolutely no fun and takes forever...
