It was Me (gragas) yi, ashe, heim, nidalee against Janna, Pantheon, Zilean, TF, Fiddle
Their Janna/Pantheon lane straight up owned early game. Pushed us mid, and got us to last towers. But I told my team to turtle, and we turtled our way back to a comeback win! Good thing their pantheon fucked up late game, and got like brutalizer, boots, and 4 bloodthirsters. No HP ftw!
He went up like 24 kills/12 deaths/? assists and still lost haha.
Silly Pan. Melee DPS can't go purely DPS, like ranged DPS. But even as ranged DPS, I'd highly recommend (if not demand) a Banshee. Spell block and increased MR is a must for carries. This is even more vital for melee DPS. Banshee + Randuin would've helped that Pan a ton. Spell block, +MR, +HP and AOE slow. Wat a scrub. If your team was any less coordinated though, Zilean ulti and Janna shield/monsoon should have been enough to keep that Pan alive imo.

Ryze is fun but has very little staying power compared to some of the other casters, especially at higher elo games. If you want to just grind for levels/IP as a caster, I'd highly suggest Annie. She has the best caster burst in the game. Level 6, save up stun. Flash in, Ignite, Tibbers, W, Q. That's typically enough to score you first blood.

I don't play Ryze, but I'm pretty sure he isn't a terrible champion at high level play- if you like his playstyle, go ahead and buy him. LoL is well balanced enough that you'll rarely come across a champion who is simply outclassed (like Evelynn).

Udyr is quickly becoming like Jax for me... When I am playing any squishy, the sight of an Udyr or Jax barreling out of the bushes make me poop a little.

On Ryze:
He's a tier 2 burster. Since bursters are not as important as carries/tanks, or even as a good support (Janna, Soraka) he doesn't add a ton to a team.
CD/pen tends to be better than AP. If you're good, you can get a mejai and gank your way to some AP (and then add Zhonya's). His Q scales with mana -- archangel is pretty solid on him. That said, I consider his core item to be glacial shroud, as it adds both mana and CD. Because his passive is a flat CD bonus, -CD% is great. I haven't played him in a while, however -- some of the new items may be great on him.
His skill order in a battle is complex because of his passive. As I recall the best order is QRWE, because that lets you get off two Qs under ult, which hurts.
His e is a great harass tool. Watch positioning carefully, and try to get good bounces. It should be your first skill, and your first skill maxed. I usually played R > E > W >Q, opening E Q E W.
His E can bounce off himself. If an enemy champ is alone and low enough, you can flash onto them, prison them, then bounce the thing between you 3 times for a bunch of damage. This is the most common tactic you'll see on Ryze.

Yeah, you can click on Tibbers and give it commands.

AP on Annie is pretty standard. Her bear Tibbers is controlled with alt-click. Basically you open either Mejai or RoA and go from there.

I'm just finally getting around to downloading this after hearing some good stuff... Does anyone feel like showing me the ropes, I'm gonna try it out today.. then if I like it, I'll play a bit after the beta goes down.. gotta do something in my free time =)

in all honestly if southlight made a new thread for LoL, i think that would be soo much better for activity and organizing events, and would also help a TON of new players feel much much better about starting this game
it would be easy enough to leave a link to the new thread in one of the last posts and tell everyone to move over
