Edit:
'Cause back when everyone was noob I played him like Annie (max q and meteor) but then I realized all the pros were using the meteor-stun combo and I was like ooooh.

Some other builds people like to go are tear of the godess meijies and RoA, thats a pretty common one but I really dont think you need tear on annie if you get double cat and when ever you feel you are never having enough mana in team fights, ask team to get you golem. As for Runes, I only have a tank rune pages XD cause i mostly play nasus since runes have been out, but Ive had a few successful games with annie even with tank runes lol. My summoner abilities I go are exhaust/heal but some might like to replace heal with a tp or flash be my guess these two just suit my aggressive play style better. And for mastries I go 9/1/20 1 in imp exhaust and 1 in imp heal. or 9/0/21 Hope this helped you out inertinept and have fun with annie, Im not a typical annie player but she isnt tough to play and is fun most the time.

and codex is no longer dead-end, it transforms into deathfire grasp which is fucking amazing on annie. i used to go the crystal --> catalyst build but tbh you dont really need it. you never get hit as annie unless you do something really dumb since she outranges everyone except ashe/corki basically. the boots with my ignite + rally have netted me first blood in 4/7 games with her so far thanks for the advice on abyssmal, ill stop getting it.

The trickiest part of veigar is being consistent with the meteor - stun - baneful - ult combo. Especially in a solo lane that is a crucial lane phase when u tele back at 6 and have a chance to get a kill on them. Using Improved Exhaust into the stun combo can do some insane damage but you gotta land them all =) Other than that I'd say find an item build that works for you because I havent found much success opening tear, I really like the Haunting Guise opening atm but I can see a Fiendish Codex - Boots - Rod - Deathfire Grasp opening being deadly.

Instead of getting the Fiendish Codex, I would rather just get the Golem Buff, while keeping a steady flow of Elixirs going, when I can't get it. The Meteor ability is really powerful, but definitely your last priority skill-wise, particularly as, in the laning phase, people can generally learn to dodge it quickly, and you need the last hits with Q more than anything else, as that's your ticket to the mid-game. Also, there's really no need to keep your lane pushed back, when you're so much safer under your tower.

Oh, quick question, what's your skill build order for Veigar? Do you just get 1 stun 1 q and max meteor asap? Edit: 'Cause back when everyone was noob I played him like Annie (max q and meteor) but then I realized all the pros were using the meteor-stun combo and I was like ooooh. There are two ways to play viegar 1) as a wandering nuke/gank 2) as a lane push pseudo late game mage-carry. I prefer 2. First of all always Q first. Always. The easiest last hits are during the first 2 minutes of game. Your Q gives you 1 AP per kill. If you are going nuke/gank ignore your W and stack your stun and Q until you have your R. First of all I believe Q has a better DPS for less mana. Second of all the W is never a sure hit even with the stun and pretty easy to dodge. If you are going to go nuking with your W, you absolutely need cripple and exhaust. Even in this build you are going to need to shift over to your W late game. I think its slower for item building and if your opponents are heads up or go resist/veil early you can end up being neutralized. In this build you will need go Soul stealer for sure and probably get a few health items as well. After Soul Stealer go Death Fire to supplement the nuking. You will need to round it out late game with the Abysmal Scepter. Going lane push, AP build Veigar... (this is fun and more viable at higher levels in my opinion) Go 1 Q 1 stun 1 W. Then just stack out W asap. You will be one hitting minion crowds before anyone else in the game. Part of the trick of this is to skip taking your ultimate until lvl 8-11 when you will actually need it (in the team fight stage). You get a lot of gold extremely quickly if you keep your mana up. I have had success going either philosopher stone + mana potions vs none lane pushers or chalice early vs lane pushers. From there 1 kage pick/boots. As far as your main AP booster, I sort of choose it depending on my team composition and game development. If we have a lot of mages.... anivia in particular I will go Abysmal staff early to push down the magic resist. I will also do this if there is a Veigar on the opposing team since he steals AP and just generally needs to die faster than you do. Beyond that post your first heavy AP item (Soul Stealer or Rod of Ages) go Zyonas next. Late game you will always need Abyssmal Scepter and Zyona's ring. General Veigar tips: You can save a lot of people with your stun if you are heads up. Also if someone is determined to chase you, drop a W behind you so they have to run right into it to pursue. Many times I have had a teemo or Yi chase me late game only to get meteor-ed at which point I just turned and did a quick Q for a kill.

anivia is fun as fuck. I dont really see the difficulty that everyone talks about, but thats probably because we play starcraft while they are used to these more casual games where you just press 4 buttons.

I usually go Catalyst, whatever boots (occasionally swiftness cuz man is anivia slow), Tear, finish rod, finish archangel's staff, then whatever AP/Mana items you want, or deathfire for lulz. An anivia with a huge mana pool is godly in teamfights and laning.
