So, you have to get 20 kills (without dying) to fill up your Mejai's? At which point you'll have 180 AP from it, which is excellent, but by that time you will have already probably won the match.
With a base AP of 20, that means that you would get more for your money, in the short term, by just stacking lots of Amplifying Tomes, for example. One Tome is what, 400G? In which case you're looking at getting 3 times the AP (80, from 3 Tomes), right off the bat, for 200 less gold. Hmm...
Of course, you would never do that, as you could spent your money on much more useful items like RoAs, Zhonya's, Lich Banes etc.
I really don't understand the reasoning behind that. I mean, for a lot of casters, it's already not worth getting the Mejai's, so why make it even less desirable?

I like getting mejai on casters o_o
Current mejai for comparison: Mejai's Soulstealer +70 Ability Power UNIQUE Passive: On champion kill, you permanently gain 10 Ability Power and steal all of their mana. On champion assist, you permanently gain 5 Ability Power. Maximum of +70 Ability Power from this passive.
Technically you would up end (with maximum buffs/stacks/whatever you want to call it) with more AP from the new mejai but slower...so i dunno.

I just started playing. I've never played DotA before, but this is great fun...and freeeeeeeeeeee.

jtype i believe you read it wrong, its 2 counters for a kill, 1 counter for an assist. So 10 kills to fill it up with no assists.

Ah my bad.. Still, that is not very much return for the requirements. You still need to get 10 kills with no deaths to fill it up. If you were to die after getting 9 kills, then you would have to get another 4 kills to complete it.
I'm not saying it's wothless, but given it's low base stats, there's no real need to focus a build around this item the way that Ryze or Annie would sometimes focus theirs around the original Mejai's. Sure it'll be a nice item in long games that your team are easily dominating, but other items will usually take priority by then (ie. items that will help your team push and win team fights, not just those that reward you for getting kills after the team fights).
|
These "snowball" items are more of a way to let the players that are good stand out really since at the moment someone who is on another level as the rest of their team doesn't usually be rewarded for it and easily can be focused/disabled to nothing. So if you are confident that you can get alot of kills with a certain champ by all means take the risk and go for it. I for one am scared of what some of the good dps carries will do with the dps oriented one

I got a smurf now named: MurdJr so if any low level newer players want a game add me on that =)

I think everyone in TL is considered a low level newer player when compared to you spud :|
|
only lvl 30s we have are lzgamer and spudboy i believe
in other news, everytime i do a 5 man premade we get fucking raped. just played a team that did malphite/sion/taric/soraka/warwick...couldnt kill anyone with tank/support
|
I blame that free XP/IP boost for that week for my mass gaming I toned it down after =)
|
ROFL Taric jungling!
Beginning to settle on an Ashe item build, I think. I went Philosopher's Stone -> Berserker Boots -> Last Whisper -> Black Cleaver -> Starks -> Black Cleaver And 21/0/X masteries, getting a stronger Smite and a stronger Rally... carry + team boost for the win?

Yeah, agreed. I guess it's much more of a high risk, high reward item. I would only really consider getting that type in premades when I'm really confident in my team. Otherwise, using the solo queue, you never quite know how your team might let you down.
I have been working on a bit more of a conservative/safe style of play recently, focusing more on not dying and helping my team, rather than just netting kills for myself. It seems like, in solo games, everyone want's to be the carry and it just makes more sense to be the one that tries to support a bit. So that's probably why I'm being critical of the new Mejai's.
|
Ehh, I play carries in solo queue because people a proper solo carry is the best way to affect the game's outcome... one way or the other. Last night my team pissed me off by blaming me for every stupid thing they did, so I blatantly refused to attack the other team in the last 10 minutes of game and cost us the game. After proving that pushing WITH me would teamwipe them. It's so BM but w/e.

Yeah, I see what you're saying, but I meant that I get annoyed when I join a solo queue and pick, say, TF first, then everyone else picks Ashe, Yi, Tristana and Twitch, for example. You can't have a team of 5 potential carries like that. I mean, yeah, any one of those could fall back and play a more tanky/support role, but they would be semi tanks or semi support at best, without the CC or AOE to support their carry.
That's why I've been learning to play a bit more of a support role, particularly with champions that have a bit of versatility and are flexible in how they can be built, like Blitz, Teemo, Twisted Fate, etc.
|
Oh, yeah.
That's why I'm wanting to unlock a tank. No one wants to play a tank. I want to, but I don't have any unlocked...
|
That's why I like Mundo. He's somewhere in between DPS and tank, he can jungle or lane normally, and he can push really well. Also, I think pushers are even less represented than tanks. Nobody wants to kill creeps all game unless it's to power up their carry to godlike levels.

At lower ranks than I'm at at the moment, I found hard pushing characters to be the best way to win a solo game. Doesn't work anymore because teams are more organised and pay more attention but before if i was sivir I could push a lane to inhibitor while everyone else was busy somewhere different. Worked like a charm.
