i usually do a sapphire crystal to start with him so i can spam alpha, while using meditate to keep my hp up. then you get catalyst so you can lane and harass all day without fear of death. then you get to level 6 and its easy mode. catalyst berserkers pickaxe bf sword ---> infinity last whisper life steal item can later replaec catalyst with warmogs and pickaxe with something stronger if you need more lategame | ||

The thing is, you only have to use one of your stuns/debuffs on Yi, to make him have to cleanse or use his ulti. Then, you just gank him while it's on cooldown. Same goes for trynd, just scare him into using his ulti, then gank him either immediately after it's finished, or a bit later, while it's on cooldown. | ||

Melee carries have the strongest DPS, but i say they have it hard just because of the prevalence of CC in game. I can be slowed, stunned, blinded, exhausted, knocked up, etc, which makes it hard for Jax to proc his ult fast enough. Ranged carries have the option to make the opponent come to them, while I have to get in and dirty. Example of a team fight. Ashe can init with her giant noob ult arrow, volley, then stand at a distance spamming frost arrows to make it hard for people to get to her. Corki can do his giant aoe ult too, then phosphorus bomb to blind, then valkyrie away if people get too close. Teemo can blind, run away to his mushroom, plus he's damn fast. I on the other hand, have to leap into the frenzy, hope I don't get bursted down by a caster, get disabled by a tank, slowed/blinded by a ranged carry. A few whacks later and the squishy I'm targetting flashes away and I'm stuck there holding my lantern sadly. | ||

To be honest? As a mostly ranged damage player I find most melee DPS characters absolutely brutal to play against. Obviously the dynamics of melee vs ranged differ greatly in 1v1 but Trynd/Jax/Yi definitely tend to have the upper hand end-game 1v1 against any ranged DPS. In a team fight... I guess the biggest problem for melee DPS is that you're automatically required to do a fair amount of tanking. Also all the newbies go after you 'cause they go for closest target. I played Ashe for like 30 games in a row and by the end of it, when my Elo was decent and I was playing people who knew what they were doing... I was getting CC'd/dying in every single team fight, no matter where I stood/how late I was to a fight. Felt worse than playing a melee DPSer really, because the low HP made it even harder to do anything. Plus at least the melee DPSers have means of avoiding a decent amount of incoming damage (on top of their comparatively higher HP). | ||

Regardless if they focus fire on me or an ally, I find that my Locket regen, summoner Heal, Wish, Astral, Blessing, Aegis/Frozen Heart aura usually keeps them alive for a long time. I also have an exhaust ready too if need be. At the same time, I'm starfalling the living shit outta them and stacking magic resist debuffs on the enemy. Almost all my steamroll games comes from Soraka as we emerge from team fights with only 1 man down to their 4 or 5, with plenty of health to spare. I'm sad they're nerfing Aegis in the next patch. | ||

Support soraka is definitely better i remember this one game where i survived a warwick and malphite chasing after me with my astral blessing...was pretty funny. | ||
