My tag is TurdFergusen, although I probably won't be playing very often for the next couple weeks because of midterms and spring break. I'd love to play with some TL people though... I'm really really tired of joining a random pub game and getting terrible teammates.

As far as favorite heros, Amumu's my boy. Get Boots of Swiftness and 5 Sunfire Capes for maximum lulz as the opposing team fails to kill me over and over and over while I AoE DoT them down for my teammates to finish the job

Do you guys use Wild Cards on the new TF? I never upgraded them but considering to try them as second choice after getting a point in pick a card and maxing stacked deck first.

the last game I played, my client crashed and wouldn't give me champ select screen, so when I reconnected I randomly got mumu...and I had never played him before. I fed the first 20 minutes of gameplay, but this post saved me. Once I got my ult up and my first sunfirecape, the other team stood no chance.

Why is sunfire cape good? Isn't it 20 damage per second? You get more than that autoattacking with any character in the game at level 1, no?

Edit: I was wrong, it's 40. Still, that's barely more than L1 autoattacks. I don't get it.

If you go with my build you don't get wildcards early and really only use them for bursting a bit with sheen and trinity mid-late game. If you go sheen first into an AP build and do a 9/0/21 mastery tree, you can afford to spam it more (cause of the mana and regen), and the end result plays a lot like the old TF, only with considerably hurt damage and AP ratios and less glitchy PaCs. With an AS/AD centric build though, you don't really have the mana pool to use WCs effectively early.

I wrote a bit on amumu, and the guide is linked in the first page on Southlight's first post. You should probably check it out so that your amumu doesn't get roflstomped as the competition gets good enough to get around multiple sunfire capes/deny you the farming to get them.

At lower levels though, yea, stacking sunfires on amumu is imba.

40 damage/second is very good. You don't have to stop to attack, the damage is magical and if you're around many heroes, the output is multiplied because you're hitting them all (and all the creeps around). The reason that amumu in particular likes it is because he already has 3 AoE damage outputting skills, so it's a way to stack onto that damage output in team fights. Sunfire cape still isn't that great an investment, but 40 damage/second in an aura is nothing to scoff at. If it were a few hundred gold cheaper, I'd be much warmer to it, but it's too damn expensive right now.

about runes. I think it's a very good basis for centering rune page construction around for various types of champs.

Also, could someone write up a list of people who seriously benefit from specialized runepages, like Gangplank? The easier we make it for people to get into this, the more premades we can run :D

The only real cases specialized Runepages apply to are Gankplank and Tyrnadmere. They rely on criticals which are suboptimal for other Champions - Armor Penetration is simply better for Damage if there isn´t some kind of additional effect for crits.

I'm coming to the conclusion that the best way to run Sivir in pub games is chalice -> boots -> unupgraded items. You just get more out of BFs, recurves, and even pickaxes than spending on flashy BTs, IEs, Starks, and whatever else. Damage + attack speed == kills.

I'm also considering trying meki pendant -> blasting wand. The wand will add 30 damage to boomerang blade, which is so important early on, and can be made into a rageblade later. Sivir doesn't get a whole lot out of AP, so it probably won't be as good, but it seems worth playing with. Another similar plan is amplifying tome into sheen.

... Which is why people have been saying get Last Whisper (one of the most cost-effective damage items in the game) and then stacking Bloodthirsters (gives lifesteal and up to 100 damage, which is relatively easy with Sivir as she farms like a champ and is pretty tough to kill with her Ult + Flash).

Why are you worried about kills oberon? Even pubs will listen to what a sivir says in party chat, so just mass auras and coordinate pushes. If you absolutely have to carry, and this is at like, 25 minutes and your twitch/trist/tf is 0-7, do what Southlight said just go LW/BT(s). Sivir is one of the best solo queues because of this.

sivir without mallet/aegis is just asking to get killed immediately

you could have 6 bloodthirsters, doesnt matter if your hp is sub 2k

Generally speaking, after a certain point, most pubbies will listen to push calls by anyone, so... I don't really see a problem with stacking auras anyways.

Pushes aren't a problem. It's the teamfights. I can't count the number of times my team has engaged 4v5 without me while I'm halfway through a Lizard. Then, when they're all dead, I'm useless, because my auras affect only me.

I still build Aura Sivir in pugs. My reasoning that as long as I can get them team fighting on time, my auras are pulling their weight. If I can't, no amount of attack speed or damage will let me win non-team fight situations like Sivir versus Ashe, Jax, Teemo, Corki, Trist, Twitch, i.e. any other dps carry. Sivir's range is so hilariously short now that she can't even kite some melee champs without her ult.

Plus her abilities simply aren't designed for it. If you're playing in some crappy game where your team won't follow you, it's also very likely the enemy team is everywhere and there are some highly farmed champs that will rape you simply by virtue of their abilities being better for hero-killing.

I don't approve of ability oriented items like GRB or Sheen on her simply because she has 2 spammable abilities and both have pretty long cooldowns. Every other champ that likes to build those items has a couple ~5 second cooldown abilities, or some 4 ability death combo. Sivir has a Boomerang and a Spell Shield, the latter of which you want to be saving for a crucial timing anyways.

On lizard: I don't jungle much at all with Sivir simply because lanes are so yummy and there will almost always be someone who can use the buffs better than I can. I'd rather have Taric keep his ult up longer or Jax completely doom his target than me doing a little more damage or throwing a few more Boomerangs. Lanes are also Sivir's calling because they keep the pressure on the enemy. Basically think of Sivir as a Mutalisk.

You're not gonna accomplish much 1v5 anyways, no matter how you build :p

The point of GRB was for +AP early (when BB is your primary tool) and GRB late (when the build-up of attack speed is handy). I doubt it's very good, but it's not completely insane.

yes it is. AP is laughably bad on Sivir, and GRB's primary bonus comes from the extra AP. The AD and AS are nice, but hard to keep up without spammable abilities, and the end bonuses on GRB are geared towards AP (8 charges = 35 AD, 32% AS, 93 AP). If you're not abusing that 93 AP and keeping it up all the time, you're much better off investing in a more run of the mill AD or AS item.

And as for your, "unupgraded items are better value than upgraded items" statement... you're just wrong. Sivir is auto-maxed BTs, which means it's 3200 gold for 100 AD and 25% lifesteal. IGNORING lifesteal, that's 32 gold/point of damage. BF Swords are 1850 for 50 AD, which is 37 gold/point of damage. BTs are more cost effective on a character that can farm to the point where they're maxed. Sivir is the best farmer in the game. You do the math.

And don't even get me started on LW. LW is slightly less expensive than a pickax + recurve bow. The difference between the two is that LW gives 5 less damage and instead gives 40% armor penetration. Let's say you're amazing and get to buy either at level 6, and assume no masteries or runes (all for the sake of minimizing damage so that there's less benefit from the Armor Penetration on LW. I'm making this absolute WORST case for LW for the sake of proving just how much better it is.).
With 0 armor on your opponent:
Damage with LW: 87
Damage with pickax + recurve: 92

With 30 armor on your opponent (they do literally nothing to boost their armor on a character with bad armor growth):
Damage with LW: 73.73
Damage with pickax + recurve: 70.77

Without them even doing anything, you're already ahead in damage output with LW, and this isn't even counting the ridiculous bonus returns when you stack further AD items, Runes, Masteries and additional payoff when the opponents start actually investing in armor. Oh, and not to mention, it's also cheaper by 60 gold.

I just disagree with the getting tier 1 runes part. T1 just seems like a waste of IP to me. The benefit is just too small to make enough of a difference to justify the cost. They do less/rune and you get less runes. Hell T3s are still pretty minor benefits in the grand sceme of things, so I just don't get why you'd invest in T1s when they're so quickly made obsolete.

The most flexible set of initial rune investments for a beginning player just hitting 20 are:
Marks: Armor Pen/Magic Pen (getting both when you can to diversify your two pages, get whichever matches your most played champions first obviously)
Seals: Dodge (good on everyone. some get better returns off of other seals, but no one is sad to have 6.75% dodge.)
Glyphs: Mana Regen per 5 per level/Magic Resist per level/Flat CD redux/CD redux per level (all of these are viable and cheap. Get what works for your fav champs and playstyle and diversify for seperate pages later).
Quints: Flat HP (+100 HP at level 1 is too good)
