They're both fairly reckless, but Lebron's got a much stronger frame and people are less willing to challenge him. I think Lebron is more versatile as well. As a 2, Wade is better but Lebron has just become a menace as a point-forward. Matching up with Wade is easier. EDIT: It's interesting that as a Pistons fans, I know how good he is but I will never fear Kobe like I do Lebron or Wade. I'm sure Kings and Magic fans feel differently. Wade's undersized, too, so he'd have to go the Ray Allen route. Lebron's still 6'8 or 6'9, has the court vision, and is still enough of a physical freak that he will be able to post up small forwards for a long time. I can say objectively that Lebron's gifts are just not something you would bet against. People have been projecting him to be a future top tier hall of famer before he was drafted. There are so many ways he could have fallen short: taking time to transition, have outside problems, getting injured. After the Spurs manhandled the Cavs, he develops a respectable outside shot. The worst possible outcome of his career is the Wilt Chamberlain of small forwards.

Lebron has become more than just a physically-gifted freak at this point (although that is still a huge part of what makes him what he is). In addition to his physical gifts, including ridiculous speed, strength, agility, and leaping ability (particularly his ridiculous 1-leg takeoff that he can get off while running full speed), he has court vision like an elite PG, has improved his perimeter game to the point where he is a legitimate 3-pt threat, improved his FT shooting to the point that hacking him isn't as good a solution as it once was, and has become an impressive defender, both on the ball and off the ball. Players get out of his way when he drives (whether guard or big), or learn quick that they should after being knocked around like a rag doll. I am very impressed by how Lebron has improved his game every season, addressing all the criticisms and concerns people have about his game. I don't want to steal his thunder, but I do think that the time he spent alongside Kobe on Team USA was very good for him as it taught him how hard he should be working if he's serious about maxing out his potential and becoming the best player ever. I shudder to think what would happen if he ever ended up on a team with a legitimate sidekick or two (Mo Will and an old Shaq and Jamison do not count). The whole NBA would groan if he ended up on a team with JJ and Bosh, both of whom I think could play very well off of him with their perimeter oriented games.

No reason why he should have gone second though, Memphis should have known that they picked up a major project.

Consistent Shooter >>>>>>> streaky shooter. Always. In fact I don't even think you can compare them when it comes to shooting. Wade for his career has always been known as dangerous from anywhere on the court except the 3 pointer. Lebron is known for being unstoppable coming to the basket, and just recently becoming someone mentioned as a decent shooter. Now once again I have to disagree with some of the Lebron arguments. I don't know who in the world said Lebron coming out of High School was a sure fire Hall of Fame candidate - I'd put those people in the same camp that called it on Darko, Oden and Olakawandi. Really just big guesses. Also I don't think a physical game is going to translate well into the later stages of his career. Like you said, it depends on how well his body holds up. In an age where everyone is getting bigger you can't rely on brute speed and strength forever. This has been the case forever through out sports. At some point your pure skills have to be the dominant factor. MJ did it, Malone did it, Duncan is still doing it, Kobe is still doing it - Lebron can't be any different.

LBJ can pass though and does run the point very well. More importantly though, he has shown work and drive (not Kobe or MJ level) but it's there. As much I dislike LBJ, I don't see him being a detriment to any team at any point in his career provided he doesn't get some Clipper-level injury. Coming out of HS, there were massive question marks on his shot and he spent time fixing said problem with noticeable results (emphasis on noticeable) in his 2nd or 3rd year in the league. He's very aware of his status and "burden" in the league to point where you can say is overdoing it, and Lebron won't fade into the sunset anytime soon. I do agree with the Wilt comparison, but we'll see come this off-season.

![]() Even if we give Lebron the tip on offense (I don't but arguably) due to his driving and passing skills I think Wade is clear cut a better defender. Yea they play different positions but Wade is so dominant on the defensive end I don't think you can call Lebron favored here. Even with the blocking highlights ^_^

In fact, I think this is the first year in a very long time where I would say that kobe is not the best player in the NBA. If a game were to be played tomorrow and my life depended on it and I have first pick, I take lebron.

That being said,I would still take Wade just based on his will. What he had to overcome in Miami so far I will always respect. LBJ not so much.

Maybe big men are the best candidates for pulling a Brandon Jennings/going into the D-league straight out of high school. The only prep to pro instant hit I can think of is Moses Malone (not that I know first hand). College pros: development. Cons: lack of practice time, weaker competition NBA pros: competition and level. Cons: playing time, during the season development takes a backseat to contributing. Is being a below average bench player better than learning in the D(evelopmental) league? Baseball doesn't do this.

It's just not a very strong argument since Lebron did get to the finals once. Also there seem to be a lot of overtime games tonight ^_^
