Great shot, but I still can't stand how KG gets away with the screens he gives. The refs let him move, grab, push, elbow, etc. whenever he screens for someone, and it's not like they don't see it because he's always screening for the guy with the ball. One of the most consistent and blatant non-calls.
Garnett sat out most of the first half with three fouls. At least two of those fouls (I forget what his third one was) came on the offensive end for setting screens. They aren't going to call that little shove with 3 seconds left of a tie game in overtime. Not even in MSG.

Anyone else want to see him on the Pistons? :O With a 50% of old McGrady at SF they'd be a good team!! ^_^ I would trade Rip (too many people who fit better at his position) and Tay (he's sucked since 06 or before) for him if he isn't getting bought out.
McGrady is making over $23m this season - the highest of any player. The Rockets have insurance for his salary, so as long as he stays injured the insurance company pays his salary. Right now my guess is the Rockets just don't want to pay him that much, especially since the feeling is his return could hurt the team chemistry and hard-working attitude.

I think the Celtics will give them a run for their money, but I'm looking forward to the rematch!

it's kinda why I also think Hollinger's power rankings are dumb. The Lakers were NEVER #1 in that stupid ranking and they won the title. GG Hollinger! =p

Hm, true if the Rockets can get his salary back they will try to keep him benched. But I remember in the case of some other players injured for a long time an NBA doctor decides if they can play, so if he really can play (and he's been scrimmaging, reportedly) this would be pointless.

KG getting called for that same foul twice before in the same game supports him getting called for it again, not getting away with it when it was so blatant. If anything, his continuance of the illegal screening should have made the refs more likely to call it to make it clear to him that he needs to stop because it's going to get called.
As for whether it was a "little shove" or not, that's open to interpretation. Personally, I don't consider it little because it was so obvious and blatant, and because it had a significant impact on the deciding play of the game. His "screen" was enough to put Chandler off-balance and prevent him from staying in front of Pierce, forcing Lee to help and leave KG open. If KG had not shoved Chandler, he would have "missed" the screen and Chandler would have still been with Pierce, making it less likely that Lee would have had to help off of KG.

David Lee ran over the Celtics a couple of times and got to the line. The offensive foul call on Allen was pretty bad. Curry was throwing everyone around at least as egregiously as KG and the refs didn't give him any offensive fouls. I'm sure there are a ton of calls that Knicks fans would be quick to point out from their side as well, but every close game is like that. I know you know the ends of close games aren't called the same way as the preceding 46-47 minutes, so I don't see how you can reasonably expect the refs to call a foul on that play unless someone pretty much got murdered.
However, although I don't agree with you in this instance, I can see where you're coming from. I hate it how LeBron just puts his head down and runs into people at the end of the game and gets bailed out. I really hate it. I hate everything about the man. I hate how he wanted to retire Jordan's number and change his number to Bill Russell's. "If I can't wear 23, no one else should be able to!" Right, as if this ever weren't all about you LeBron. Asshole!......Anyway, I'm getting a little off-topic. What I'm trying to say is that I can understand how you thought KG was a wonderful person whose intensity and passion for the game warranted great admiration when he was going out in the first round every year, but ever since the celtics beat the lakers in 08 he's a horrible man who yells at little point guards because he's too much of a pussy to yell at the big guys. But the truth is, KG hasn't changed at all. He's always been the same. It's just that you hate him now!
I generally like what you have to say in these threads even if I don't agree with it because you try to be as objective as you can, but you can only do so much to mask the fact that you're still a dirty dirty dirty dirty dirty lakers fan.

Right, if he is able to play insurance no longer pays his salary. This is why Houston doesn't want to admit he is ready to play - and why McGrady has gotten into fights with the coach / front office. He wants to play, but Houston makes out better if he stays on the injury list. Considering the money he makes this season, I don't see a buyout happening either... unless he is willing to leave a lot of $$$ on the table.

I'll admit from the outset that I didn't watch the game and only saw the highlights, including the KG screen-clutch shot. I'm sure there were other none-calls throughout the game, and maybe some more egregious than KG's at the end. That doesn't really change the fact that KG gives illegal screens quite consistently (to the extent where even non-Lakers fans have complained) and that the one he gave in that situation was pretty blatant and arguably affected the outcome of the game.
As for the way games get called at the end, it's true that refs are more prone to not calling minor fouls. However, this was a regular season game (not playoffs where a lot of contact is allowed) and the shove was made on the defender guarding the player with the ball. That's where the refs eyes were and should have been, and it resulted in the defender losing his balance. I'm not going to pretend that this was one of the most egregious non-calls or anything as dramatic as that, but it was one I thought should have been called even barring officiating tendencies.

While I don't have the hate for Lebron that you do, it can be frustrating to see how much he gets away with in terms of initiating contact and "creative dribbling". I'm not sure how your dislike of Lebron relates to my feelings regarding KG though unless you used to be a Lebron fan until the Cavs got good and he became the next big thing. I've been a fan of Lebron because of his insane natural ability and incredible potential, but that started to change a little when he started buying into his own hype and acted like he was already the best player in the league despite not having won a championship yet (not a fair standard since it's a team sport, but it's a generally accepted requirement before anointing yourself the best). The showboating with his teammates and the strong favoritism from the refs didn't help (the latter can't be held too much against him though since Kobe and Wade get similar treatment). But all in all he's a pretty likable guy with great talent, so it's hard for me to not be a fan to some degree.
I'll be honest and admit that I didn't watch KG play that much while he was in MIN, as he wasn't on nationally-televised games that often since the TWolves were rarely worth watching. What little I did see was not the obnoxious guy the became in BOS after he got his ring. Maybe his "intensity" in MIN and his "obnoxiousness" in BOS stem from the same craziness that he always had, but it definitely came out differently. However, you didn't see or hear about KG harassing other players by putting his face in and wagging his fingers at players' faces or doing anything even close to dropping on all fours in front of anyone in MIN or during his first season in BOS. It's not like it was only Lakers fans that were of the opinion that a championship made KG into someone so unlikable and so different from the perception people had of him before, there were comments from a lot of teams and basketball writers/bloggers who reached the same conclusion. There was an undeniable change for the worse in his manner last season, and everyone saw it, not just Lakers fans.
As far as disliking KG because he's a Celtic and I'm a Lakers fan, you can believe what you want and it's not unreasonable to think I'm biased. However, I've never been all that into the LAL-BOS rivalry since the Magic-Bird rivalry years were a little before my time, and I didn't see the big deal when it was renewed a couple of seasons ago. I had problems with the some of the Celtics' antics post-championship simply because they were annoying and obnoxious. As I said, it wasn't just Lakers fans who were complaining about the manner of the Celtics' players post-championship, it was an opinion that came from many teams around the league. It was enough to prompt quite a few articles on the subject, with the focus mainly being on KG because of his very blatant and obnoxious conduct (which, again, was never noticed or mentioned prior to that year).
I actually like Ray Allen still, as well as Pierce. I was one of those who had no problems with Paul stating that he thought he was the best player in the world after they won the championship, that kind of confidence is what you need to win big. However, on the other end, you had KG with his antics, House acting like he was a hotshot despite being a very limited role player, and Rondo who I liked until the CHI-BOS series where he clocked Brad and checked Hinrich without any repercussions. No one's going to be happy when KG is getting away with his ridiculous antics (i.e. harassing players w/o technicals) and Rondo is getting away with plays that'd result in flagrants for other players (i.e. Brad hit, Hinrich check) because they're SO obvious and happen in such highly-publicized circumstances. You can't shrug off criticism for stuff like that as Lakers fanboyism.
