Hedo is a bust, Sheed is a bust, Gordon and Villy is a bust, Carter is so-so, Ariza is a bust (but hardly costly), Artest is so-so (but the Lakers match up "better" against Denver). Am I leaving someone out? Prior to this season I felt some teams made some solid moves to get better, but those teams have been pretty underwhelming. the diesel to cleveland?? jefferson/mcdyess to san antonio??

I'd hardly call jefferson to san antonio a success

He's an improvement and he does what he's asked. He's not a main scoring option. He's more like 3rd or 4th.

4 matches left in regular season.anything can still happen in the west.

Shawn Marion to the Mavs, Matt Barnes to Orlando, didn't the Hawks get somebody? Marquis Daniels and Mr. Candace Parker to Boston. There was also the Emeka Okafor for Tyson Chandler trade.
Midseason moves have been pretty so so.

Mavs Heywood/Butler deal for Josh Howard was the biggest steal since Kwame for Gasol
|
Butlers below average, the trick was Howard was even worse. mavs didn't exactly dominate after the trade.

judicator you're waaay off
off the top of my head: artest has been good, crawford's been good, shaq's been good, anthony parker been good, barnes and carter have been good, marion good, randolph been AMAZING, ilyasova good, jarret jack been alright, stephen jackson been good, AARON AFFLALO, channing frye been good, andre miller been good. even people like rasual butler. and that's in a season where multiple rookies have had good seasons
not gonna go into the trade deadline stuff but plenty to like there
edit: forgot ben wallace

I think some of you, especially this guy, is missing my point. Teams that made moves with the intent to compete hasn't panned out well for them in the offseason. The midseason ones aren't so clear yet with the exception of Howard.
And I did forget the Jefferson trade, that's how unmemorable he's been this year. And you don't take on that kind of money for a 3rd or 4th option that's a liability defensively (why do you think Bogans is getting so much playing time?)
Okafor for Chander is pretty even in the average sense.
The others I am not so sure about as I haven't gotten a chance to watch them as much this season.

Didn't the Mavs go on a tear after they got Butler and Heyward over some pretty good teams too?
|
Wow, Ben Gordon, you anti-tanking bastard. 39 pts vs the Heat throwing a whole season of suffering down the drain, almost. Way to start a pointless win streak......... O________________O John Wall or Evan Turner would have been the only way to make any positive out of this season.
And to the person saying his signing has been a mistake, it is too early to say, he's been mostly unhealthy. Before health problems he was 25 ppg with few shots.
Wish I could watch OKC vs PHX right now, that sounds like the most entertaining game ever.

^lol you think that's bad, pacers 8-2 over their last 10 and beat the cavs today
judicator every team improves itself to 'compete', not just the 3-4 teams that actually have a shot at the title. ie: donk teams like detroit, don't see how you considered them a competing team
anyway dre miller, afflalo, frye, parker, crawford all play for competing teams and contribute positively, carter's been great in the last few months too and orlando could finish with a better record than the lakers, i'd say that's panned out, artest has been a positive too. the fact that you forgot half the moves that happened less than a year ago, as well as freely admitting you don't watch much nba make me think you shouldn't defend your opinion too ardently
also: mavs hotstreak was just that, they're only 5-5 over their last 10 and the fact that they've fallen off is a pretty big story since everyone was saying there's now 4 legit contenders. this was predicted in the advanced metric community before it happened, mavs were running hot in a number of ways. not to say they didn't improve, they did. just not by as much as people thought. i blame carlisle for playing so many terrible lineups. free roddy

he may not win the MVP (even though he should) but at least he'll be the youngest scoring champ ever.
