^lol you think that's bad, pacers 8-2 over their last 10 and beat the cavs today
judicator every team improves itself to 'compete', not just the 3-4 teams that actually have a shot at the title. ie: donk teams like detroit, don't see how you considered them a competing team
anyway dre miller, afflalo, frye, parker, crawford all play for competing teams and contribute positively, carter's been great in the last few months too and orlando could finish with a better record than the lakers, i'd say that's panned out, artest has been a positive too. the fact that you forgot half the moves that happened less than a year ago, as well as freely admitting you don't watch much nba make me think you shouldn't defend your opinion too ardently
also: mavs hotstreak was just that, they're only 5-5 over their last 10 and the fact that they've fallen off is a pretty big story since everyone was saying there's now 4 legit contenders. this was predicted in the advanced metric community before it happened, mavs were running hot in a number of ways. not to say they didn't improve, they did. just not by as much as people thought. i blame carlisle for playing so many terrible lineups. free roddy

So Detroit signing those people isn't a some kind of determined effort to compete in the East, go look at their payroll please. SA picking up Jefferson was great too huh? And if you think every team improves itself to compete, you need to watch the off-season more, LAL almost didn't resign Lamar Odom because of money reasons. Same reasons why Toronto is going to be boned for the next few years thanks to all the money they tied up in a few overpaid players (they're in worse position than NJN imo). Same reasons again why the Knicks made all these moves after the whole Thomas debacle.
Also, Orlando with a better record than the Lakers but still don't have home court in the Eastern Conference while the Lakers do in the West. You still think VC is worth his contributions at $16.3 million this year?
And the Mavs are still 19-6 after the trade deadline or 20-7 after they got their new team mates, I'd say that's pretty good so far.
And all this coming from a guy who a couple of pages ago went on tear about the Lakers while obviously not watching a single Lakers game? Read my post again, those people you listed? They weren't the big names (or big contracts) that got moved around or added this past off-season.
Either way, it won't matter come post-season except for Detroit...
