Well I'm apparently much better than the average pvp'er in the middle channel (I forget the name, the rank 5-10 one). I've been stomping on most people I run into with my soulbender now.
I pretty much just get Keiga and ghost step up, then run around and look for a chance to upper slash/moonlight slash. Upper slash lets me then moonlight - gore - upper - ghost slash; moonlight slash just lets me ghost slash after. Ghost slash hits for about 4000 damage usually and moonlight gets about 3500 or so total.
When my ghost step runs out I toss up saya + bremen in a corner and camp out the 10 seconds between the end of the duration and the end of the cooldown. If I'm against a gunner, well, I'm bad vs. gunners still. Most of them just let me get ghost step and keiga up again without bothering me. *shrug*
So I've pulled my record over 50% again after starting out something like 15-40 (largely thanks to getting stomped by my friend's Witch for a long time at 25 till I learned the matchup).
Can anyone recommend a new class for me -__- Preferably a class that can solo every once in a while and either hits hard or hits fast. I'm not too big of a balanced character. I've made a spit fire and soul bender, level 22 and 23 i think. I'm looking at weapon master, and I'm wondering how mechanics play. Do they just sit and spam the land runner?

mechs are awesome
there are three basic types of mechs from what i see
first is the pseudoranger/spitfire This guy tends to get a LOT of ranger abilities, like jack spike, mach kick, windmill, punisher, etc. He also gets either freeze or light bullets, and tends to not use landrunners for damage-he uses them as a poke. His primary damage is the corona bot. However, he gets countered pretty hard by virtually anybody with superarmor, actual rangers and spitfires, and monks.
Then there is the pseudolauncher type. I sort of play like this. He uses the viper, time bomb, and land runner to set up a defense perimeter where he can spam gatling and steyr and remote detonation. If they try to get into the perimeter they usually get naded, bbqed, and pretty dead. They die to launchers and witches and brawlers though, and even summoners.
Then there is the pure mech type. He literally just runs around spamming land runners and occasionally windmilling. I dont use windmill but i do love spamming landrunners. Of course, the moment a monk, grappler, weapon master, or battle mage gets you, you die pretty quickly because you don't have very many escapes.
By the way, max out secret landrunner. It may seem insignificant at lower levels but up here you get two landrunners like every two summons. And when your landrunners do 1500 damage each like every 3 seconds, that adds up.

we should pvp sometimes. What lvl is your soul bender ? I think soul benders are generally weak at the lvl 40 cap because they need to max ghost step and maybe the summons to take advantage of their playstyle. Also the black flames are one of their main source of damage and they dont have it.
By the way I was completely wrong when I said ghost step was mostly useless at level 1. It's amazing period.
I also found out I have no idea what I'm doing with my battlemage and I'm bad with my weaponmaster. My soulbender just seems so easy. I run through gatlings, I run through landrunners, then I get in a hit and I get 6000 damage since everything links to ghost slash.
Still I'm definitely worse vs gunner subclasses than vs others since I can't just camp the corner when I don't have ghost step on ... gatling can still hit me

Elementalist damage is limited by their mana because all their DPS comes from their spells
the result is that they'll have issues soloing some higher level dungeons on Master / King due to going oom. this can be fixed by using mana consumeables or afking to regen mana (Elementalist have fast base mana regen), but I'd prefer to be able to boss run a dungeon without relying on such methods. I'd guess an alternate method is to stack mana regen, but I don't care much for that route since mana regen is really only useful in PvE and I'd rather burn through mana consumeables than spend gold on mana regen gear.
Elementalist is a whole lot funner to play than my Spitfire though. damage wise, I'd say it's pretty dungeon dependent. dungeons where mobs tend to clump together = good. dungeons where mobs tend to not clump together = oom fast and not so fun.
regarding PvP, I haven't had much experience.
I have issues with gunners that camp one corner of the map and then run to the other side as I try to pressure them. their attacks outrange mine with stuff like gatling, steyr (which seems to have some fucking miraculous homing ability), flamethrower, and I really only have Fire Pillar as a range skill to try to attack them. really need a higher level frosty but am limited by the lvl 40 cap. I try to get in close and hit them with Ice Wall / Sun Burst, but it's pretty difficult since they can either do the gun jump move, slide, or windmill.
fighters also scare the shit out of me. some of their grabs seem to have a huge range.
Elementalists can solo most of the dungeons though right? That's pretty much all I care about, if I can make money I can buy some MP regen since it's pretty cheap anyways

I think jumping works against tornado kick. haven't tried it myself. just pretty sure I saw some person jumping in a DnF video when a fighter used tornado kick.

most mechs seem same to me. Run around spamming land runner, time bomb and nades to buy time/space. Set up viper when they can, and try to live until tempester comes to save the day. Oh and like all gunners, they obviously have jackspike windmill bbq mach.
What it boils down to is how good they are at avoiding the other player and landing those nade/jack/bbq for massive damage.

tempester really isn't that strong it does fixed damage and somebody whos not a total idiot can easilly take it out.
like I said there are three kinds of mechs. The aggressive one (pseudo ranger/spitfire) the zoning type (bombs bombs remote/launcher skills) and the type that you see apparently, the ones that run around and spam landrunner and the like.
I don't use windmill and mach, though, because they're gay
Now about that build, you only get weapon launcher and phoenix hammer as prereqs for weapon launcher cancel, and future skills. Leveling phoenix hammer over 5 is a complete waste of points and that skill gets completely replaced in PvP.
can you explain what replaces Phoenix Hammer? thanks
If you are going the pure physical exorcist route, you max out chakra of passion and star in the sky (though the damage increase of each level isn't that good for use of skill points; this is due to the huge ranges between the min and max %increase).
