[GomTV Season2] CJ Mah, Jae Yoon "From now on I want to challenge using off-race against other players with name values."
- You succeeded in advancing to the second round (16players) > I feel unsatified about the 1st game. I didn't lose most of the time during practice. I didn't wanna use some cheap strat or bunkering. instead, i wanted to play power vs power. However, I have never played against 2 hatchery build. So I didn't know how to prepare for it. I wanted to play him again in the 5th game. I really felt lacking.
-Your evaluation of the 1st game. > I didn't think I lost one-sided game today. Even though I lost, I think I'm capable. I think my intention is important. As long as I believe I can stil do it, I can do it next time.
-You are better with your main race. > I'm more tensed up when I'm using my main race zerg than the off-race. There's the point that I'm not so skilled with Terran. But I don't think I do worse than with zerg.
-It seems like your relationship with Park, Tae Min (GoRush) has become awkward. > I don't think our special relationship has changed. And I don't think I would feel bad if some other player decided to play off-race against me. In terms of Tae Min's position, I understand him. However, I only did what I have always wanted to do as a progamer. Hereafter, I will be thinking of wanting to do it again once in awhile. I have confidence.
-Are you thinking of switching your race? >Not yet, I never thought of it.
-Rest of your games were flawless. >To be honest, I didn't really mind about Python and Monty Hall. I could barely practice. I only thought about today's match against Tae Min. After losing today, I wished to meet Tae Min again in the 5th game.
-Your evaluation on off-race >I'm not so familar with it yet. It's not as good as my Zerg. I'm not planning to do it extensively. I'm thinking of challenging quietly. From now on, I wanna take a valuable win against players with name values.
-You are going to face Song, Byung Goo Stork. >It's been a long time since I played vs Protoss. I'm gonna have to practice a lot for it. I didn't think about switching race against Song, Byung Goo. I'm more confident and happy with bionic than mechanic.
>Say a word to the fans >Many fans looked forward to the match, but I wasn't as clean. After a game like this one, I feel sorry and embarassed. If I get to have another chance, I will be ready. Sea.Jy, Ever)Z(Maru, Dream.t)Orion, and NsP_JoJoBa helped me practice. However, they didn't use 2 hatchery build(laughs). I should teach them a leasson(laughs).

That's essentially all the Z's CJ can offer sAviOr for practice.
More importantly, why didn't sAviOr himself think of 2 hatch and ask to practice against it. -_-

this says quite a bit about savior's tvz, that he can train vs jy/orion/etc. and still contend vs gorush who trains with these tvz powerhouses

Savior vs Stork will be awesome.
|
What was so significant about GoRush's 2 hatch build other than the fact that it threw Savior off? Was Savior anticipating a 3 hatch build so much that he was unable to adapt? I guess I'm asking why the 2 hatch build was a better choice for GoRush as oppose to 3 hatch...

Thanks for the interview link ! Was a nice read, and if someone could explain how 2 hatch is better than what is usually done (would be cool lol cause im noob to the sc strat thing)

It was faster. Gorush was able to secure a second main with two lurkers atop ramp before Savior could do anything about it. And on Desperado, that means he had 4 gas going into his muta pump with only the need for two lurkers in the early mid-game to stop Savior from destroying his expo. From there, he could basically control the entire game.
Personally I agree with Savior. I think the game demonstrated more of an intelligent strategy with perfect execution by Gorush, rather than any incompetence on Savior's part. I think he's evaluated the situation correct. From this one game, I really don't think he should be discouraged and consider it a one-sided rape.

Savior didn't do anything in that game, you know it. He built marines, medics tanks and sci vessels. Any terran would do that. Infact half of the game he is running around with no medics. How can you say his tvz is top class? Progaming is based on extreme subtleties which seperate gosu's from chobo's and savior looked chobo in that game. I think because you are a big savior fan, it is clouding your vision.

It's obvious why savior was running with no meds if you watched the game at all. Nada wouldn't have had medics in that situation either.

There's no way to tell 100%, because the screen isn't centered on it at the right time, but I would guess that Gorush started morphing his hatchery at the natural into a lair before he started the expansion at the bottom right main, hence 2 hatch strat (tech started with 2 hatches).

I am quite sure he went lair immediately before putting down his 3rd hatch. I just checked the VOD, but they show the hatch building, and then the lair morphing.

SaviorGoRush ( edit: thx below -_-;; ) was mining gas for 40 seconds prior to morphing his 3rd hatchery, starting to mine gas a few seconds after the Spawning Pool finished. I'm pretty sure it was Lair first--he didn't make creep colonies prior to making the 3rd hatchery, so that's why the hatch could be relatively early.

But look at the MSL Group B Winner (GoRush) interview:
GoRush - "On this map [Desperado] I could beat our teams online practice partners when I used terran. That is how good it is for terran."
And he thumbed Desperado down to play ZvT against Sea[Shield], preferring to play Monty Hall, Loki, and Python instead.

One hopes.
Jaedong beat NaDa on the map. But that was such a cheesy game from NaDa - I mean, mass valks? That almost never works -_______-;;
|
My speculation:
I imagine GoRush says this is a Terran map (in TvZ at least) because-
1. Split minerals + 2 gas + mineral only free expo= Terran gets 2.5 mineral and 2 gas quicker and safer than on a typical map. I call it 2.5 minerals because Terran can use a lower SCV count at main due to split minerals and doesn't need to waste time with a float for natural expo (see #2). Zerg typically will have lower drone count anway, so the split doesn't benefit them as much.
2. Choke point + free mineral only expo: Terran is in OK shape with a choke not near base. Zerg likes to use 2nd hatch as choke for Sunkens. So the 2nd gas at main isn't as big a deal to Zerg (UNLESS the Zerg goes for another start spot) since it's just the equivalent to a normal map's income for zerg or worse b/c the goofy choke. I'll call it 1.75 mineral and 2 gas for zerg if he wants sunkens at choke b/c he has to waste a hatch there. --- I don't have the VOD in front of me now, did GoRush put his 2nd hatch at choke and Sunken before the 3rd hatch?---
3. Island float for Terran's 3rd expo if lazy.
4. If Terran gets another main... Terran could have equivalent to 5 or 6 mineral + 4 gas. What more can a Terran ask for?
5. It's space platform terrain! Always looks anti-zerg when I see it.
Savior was thinkin' like, "Macro is the only way to win vs a serious opponent. If it was me (Savior) playing Zerg, I'd take my mineral only safely to stay on par with Terran. Trying to get another main too quickly is too nutty, and that's why I'll try Terran cuz it feels safer on this map. Plus, what in the world would ZvZ be with 1 hatch dual gas?"
GoRush was like... A+B+C=only good way to beat Terran is get another start spot and go Muta crazy. Not gonna beat Terran on ground on this map. AKA screw the mineral war cuz Terran would win. The queen vs CC was just icing, I thought. Next Terran vs Zerg is going to build 2 bunkers by main... mark my words.
I really like Savior, but he over-analyzed this one methinks. GoRush had a simple clear logical path to attend to on this map that Savior missed because of some assumptions and his personal feelings about Zerg on this map.
Anyway, still early to see how this map develops and therefore this is all just speculation... but this game certainly made the map interesting to keep an eye on.
|
You play against GoRush and expect that he'll macro? Man, you should know your opponents better
|
Ahahahah Blacklizard. I'm sure that's what Savior was thinking too.
But getting ahead of myself, I think GR will have wonders planned on Monty Hall, in all seriousness.
|
I hope all the zergs demolish savior if he tries to choose Terran again, thatll teach him!!!
|
Rest of your games were flawless. >To be honest, I didn't really mind about Python and Monty Hall. I could barely practice. I only thought about today's match against Tae Min. .
