Before making some point, avilo said to Idra "without taking cheap shots at you, like you did at me." That's returning the favor. That being said, I enjoy watching avilo once in awhile for the mech play, don't care for the rage.

IdrA went ad hominem, Avilo pointed it out.

Ain't that the truth... especially JP, he tries too hard to be apart of the 'clique' he's just an ugly mess really... Avilo debated that well and IdrA thinks he's the king of the world as normal... he also called MarineKing shit LOL, he's had more success in both BW and SC2 than IdrA, he needs to quiet down sometimes.

I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but all your balance whining comes from blatantly obvious bias.

Evidently, Idra's terms were colorful than the ones I used, but that's basically how I read the debate. Believe me, I'm trying to be civil and objective here. I'm presenting my point of view on the matter and I'd be quite interested to hear what people here truly think when they say Avilo 1 - Idra 0. I don't have anything against Avilo, though I am a bit curious, that's all.

I watched the debate and all I could hear was Avilo saying "thanks to the Queen buff, Z can now drone to 80 drones and win with eco-heavy tech switches, T can't pressure Z without all-in'ing". To which I'm pretty sure I heard Idra respond "The old builds don't work anymore, Terrans need to find new pressure builds and it's already been done in Korea". Idra's ad hominem was that Avilo simply wasn't playing the match up correctly. Evidently, Idra's terms were colorful than the ones I used, but that's basically how I read the debate. Avilo was using what I hope are hyperboles to describe the way the matchup works now, and while Idra was logical in his points he attacked Avilo unfairly because of his points. It wasn't civil at all like the qxc and Idra discussion, but that's because that's what JP and crew wanted to happen it appears.

If Avilo were to play T/P as his main race for a month, he'd call Terran OP, trust me.

I felt like IdrA was showing uncharacteristic optimism towards the options Terran had, while Avilo was arguing that it was imbalanced & without cure. I think the meta-game will even itself out anyways. Whenever there is a buff to a race, that race always enjoys some a higher percentage while players adjust. I really doubt that some queens throwing their sewing needles a few meters farther is the end of the world.

I don't have anything against Avilo, though I am a bit curious, that's all. The problem I find with the way everyone on SotG appears to debate is that they never give solid reasoning, it's all situational cases put forward to counter the bigger picture. Things were said such as "If you can't go into the main, just sneak around" - by IdrA when questioned about Hellions. I don't even need to point out what the flaws are in saying things like this are but I will regardless. Maps are different, that much should be obvious, you can't just "sneak around" on every map, you can't just "go into the main" either. Of course there are very select cases on specific maps where you could do things like this, especially on maps like Entombed Valley or Ohana - anything with a wide ramp really. Usually when silly things like this are said, they are retorted with another situational resolution or counter to what was said, ultimately taking the debate nowhere and leaving everyone involved no closer to determining whether the match up is broken or not. I find this happens a lot in American - not restricted to StarCraft - debates but I'm in no such position to make such generalisations. Avilo, admittedly, argued his side extremely poorly, making just as many situational arguments as IdrA rebutted with but what really makes this such an outcry is how he was treated. IdrA -- who is not doing very well at the moment, making the statement even more conceited than it usually would -- called him bad and told him to "shut the fuck up". When Avilo responded to these personal attacks he was cut off, mid sentence no less. I personally don't believe the match-up is broken, I don't play the game anymore. I just watch, silently and excessively. I doubt that means anything, though.

I wouldn't call it uncharacteristic, the current state of the game isn't negative towards zerg, that's the difference. In the end IdrA definitely came out looking bad as far as I'm concerned, I felt like he wasn't even listening to Avilo, because he deems him to be an inferior player, which is debatable, IdrA isn't anywhere near a top player at the moment, he should really tone that down. Also calling Marineking bad and saying he doesn't know what he was doing -> that made IdrA look like an idiot before this "debate" even started :/
