Destiny's thread was initally closed before we had a dedicated fan club forum for everyone (well almost) to have their fan club. Destiny has one of the more active ones here: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=182538 So to you, and the other posters complaining, no, there is no double-standard.

But how this is done mainly depends on how much she'll actually like PLAYING the game. If she does, the community can guide her into SC2 and take care of her, because there's just so many of us. And what we get in return is a proffesional and glamorous SC2 reporter for all the awesome events, a star of a sort, that can represent the community outside of its bounds, beacuse she's got an agent that will make sure she'll keep one leg outside the boundries of our nerdwolrd. I hope that this is the build she's playing. I hope that she is really learning to play, so that her first game OnStream is actually not as bad as everyone wants it to be. To have a dedicated model/actress for SC2 is really good publicity for eSports and it is very much what I wish for. If she loves the game pretty much every SC2 player will love her back. How on earth can this have a negative effect on anything?

When she said 'e-games' instead of e-sports, did she make an honest mistake, or was she implying that she didn't think gaemz were a legitimate sport? And something isn't necessarily diminished by not being a sport. I don't consider NASCAR or gymnastics as sports, but I am sure they are both extremely difficult, require lots of skill, and have intense competition. Yet if you say you don't consider them sports, their fans get all outraged, as if that somehow means they are easy. I mean I've really enjoyed playing and even watching starcraft, and have huge respect for the pros, but I'm not super comfortable with the term "e-sports." I don't want to get all sidetracked because this isn't the thread for if they should be labeled e-sports or not, I'm just saying i think it's hard to take issue with "e-games," when shes standing in front of a major league GAMING backdrop. Of course all that being said it could also just be her not yet being down with all the terminology.

If Lindsey becomes a serious player and a part of the community she will gain the support of a large community. While this does not have a direct on her main career it will be certainly a boost to her popularity, and that is always a good thing these days. So what we have to offer to her is our support, while she can be the one that can advertise the gamers' community to people outside it. I see this as a great thing for the whole eSport community. But how this is done mainly depends on how much she'll actually like PLAYING the game. If she does, the community can guide her into SC2 and take care of her, because there's just so many of us.
