It wasn't one bad series. And it's the same thing repeated as the last few tournaments, well played initially and ends in disappointment, generally because of his own play falling apart.
If he was tired, that is understandable, but it makes three appearances in a row where it's happened (Homestory, ASUS and now here.)

stop that shit. his play was amazing this weekend.
Correct me if I'm wrong but isnt stephano and violet supposed to be the last match of the day? It was cut short so they continue with idra vs asd?!? If so how is this fair to the players?!?!?!?

im pretty sure that it was meant to be the last televised match of the day. the later games were going to be played regardless they just got the oppurtunity to cast to cast them because of how short violet versus stephano was.
feel bad for idra and yes the two tournament thing is kinda stupid.
No, per incontrol's twitter, Idra/asd was scheduled to be the last match of the day. My understanding, and it could be wrong, was that it was moved up from its scheduled time because Stephano/Violet ended so quickly.
I don't understand why people are complaining about the two tournaments coinciding with each other being "stupid"? It's not entirely uncommon for two tournaments to be held at the same time, it's just far more uncommon for the tournaments in question to be held in the same venue at the same time. As for participating in both, I wouldn't think anyone was forced too. A lot of the players who qualified for the WCS North America Finals were also entered into the MLG open bracket, which they didn't need to be. I think it's safe to say it was their decision to play both tournaments, when they could've stuck to one (like Scarlett did, focusing on WCS).
As for IdrA playing a televised match AFTER Stephano vs Violet, I have no way of knowing if IdrA had a choice whether to play it on the main stage or not but it would've been played regardless. Stephano vs Violet was supposed to be the last televised match of the night, not the last match in general. If you look at the brackets, you'll see that + Show Spoiler +
IdrA's match vs asd was in the losers round 2 with, binski vs Killer, Eifer vs MarineKing, Grubby vs Goswser, Rain vs Sheth, Hawk vs HuK, qxc vs Caliber and Ryung vs Goody.
Now all of those matches were scheduled to be played today, whether it was before or after the last televised match was irrelevant. So calling it unfair to the players is ridiculous in my opinion.

I understand where people are coming from; Idra did play in the first match of the day, and the last. And it's a shitty situation having to play two tournaments at once; even if you voluntarily accept being in that situation it's still shitty.
I think that's extremely redundant but if you're going to look at it that way I agree. As a spectator though I find the dual tournaments to be wildly entertaining. In my opinion, what would be infinitely shittier for the players would be if these two tournaments were held in separate countries so no one had a chance to play both.
Usually I'm critical when people make excuses for IdrAs play but today I am super proud. He played so fuckinh well this weekend, considering he would have been extremely tired playing in both tournaments and winning so much. Defeating First the so called PvZ specialist and then falling 2-1 in two ZvZ's then losing to a respectable Korean T 2-1. No one can deny IdrA is rising back pretty fast. Solid effort Greg, you made your true fans proud.

Oh, I totally agree about that. But a better situation would be both tournaments being held over separate dates, so every player could focus on each tournament fully. I'm not making excuses or trying to diminish Scarlett's win, but it's telling I think that she blasted through both WCS tournaments in large part against opponents preoccupied with other matches in MLG and NASL. Being able to have singular focus on one event is huge.
I completely agree. Focusing on two separate events, playing twice the amount of games; it's obviously very beneficial to be able to focus on a single event, and it's unfortunate in that sense that tournaments can overlap. The only argument I have is against the people who seem to think that Idra was told to play once more when he thought he was done.

My feeling was that people were thinking Idra's game was moved up by a matter of minutes, rather than by a matter of a day. Instead of it being moved from Sunday match #1 to Saturday last, it was moved from Saturday 12:00 to Saturday 11:30, or whatever the actual times were. I can see that why a player would be affected by that.
Of course, I have no idea whether that actually happened or not.
I addressed that in the spoiler of my first post. Who knows though, maybe he was rushed more than he would've been normally and maybe he would've preferred playing off stage.
Sad to see him go, but really fun to see him play well. Last game was kind of sloppy dealing with the drops, but overall his games today were pretty good. Random ZvZ is random

the schedule times on the LR thread was set even before the day started. however, i do think greg should have the right to say, i need a break until 11pm, that's when i will play or something
