Jesus Christ. So now just not responding to somebody is bm?
|
IdrA should play other races. If guineapig can switch races and beat idra then obv idra can be better than he is right now in like a month at most. The game knowledge of terran and beast mechanics are there. What else is left?
|
That starting build by guinea pig was pretty cool actually. The drop ship could just pop in and drop 4 ghosts, snipe 4 times to kill a queen or overlord, and come back 25 s later for another go. It was relatively safe VS every zerg opener other than super early pressure.
Don't forget that guinea pig was the first one to use a combination of air with colossi; maybe he is really good at making up new builds.

Grow some balls, man.

yeah, why doesn't idra respond to the 1000th person to call him grack? weird.

is idra done streaming tonight?

I thought that guy was hilarious. That was guineapig?
|
That was actually a sick game, his dropship ghost play reminded me of boxer-esque BW play.

According to IdrA it is that or GP has lent his account to someone else for a while.

I imagine so, he was raging pretty hard, understandably.

Yeah that was guineapig. "me win grack". Shocking how a race switcher can beat a zerg in scrap

On February 05 2011 16:00 kazie wrote: dont get how guineapig was smug. he greeted with a joke and got ignored. bm from idra first no....mocking someone that you watched play in the GSL as you were eliminated is pretty obnoxious.

Because surprise Scrap Station isn't a zerg favoured map.

Yeah, it's funny how most of his streams end the same way:
Terran pushes with tank marines and all he can do is attack it head on at a narrow choke where it's impossible to win.
It's happened what... 2-3 times now after only 5 streams?
But I'll blame the shitty map pool instead of the race. There's just too many chokes on maps and not enough open space to allow zerg to do what they need to. Terran just needs to keep to those tight areas and they become virtually unstoppable.
|
what is the actual counter to that harass?
Queens -> 4 shot, take long time to build
hydra -> 2 shot, too gas costly, can't use them in future battles vs siege tanks
spire -> takes 3-4 minutes longer to get, even without harass..
A spore at each mineral would help, a little.. but I dunno, seemed super annoying.

He streams for 2 hours, the 2 hours was up. Just a shittier end note.

I believe IdrA has been saying for months that Scrap isn't as zerg favored as people make it out to be. Also, with a build that Guinea Pig executed, it could catch any zerg off guard. The early hellions tend to make the zerg go roaches, as IdrA did. If not, the mutas come out faster and pick off the dropship insanely easy and the terran loses, even if the zerg loses some queens before then.

wow that build guinea pig did was really cool and pretty effective.
|
From the looks of it, spores might help but if he's careful with the medivac he can avoid them. All he needs is vision with the medivac. Snipe has a long range.
GuineaPig actually abused Scrap Station to his own advantage. If there weren't rocks in-between the bases and a long travel distance his build could be quite vulnerable to a fast roach/speedling attack. Ghosts aren't cheap. It sets him behind in the same way that banshees do, but does not force detection (cloaked ghosts are even more expensive and may even be counter-productive given that he's using up all the energy from snipes alone) and isn't as good in defense, making it possible to attack his base.
The good part about the build is the guaranteed queen kills, and following the queen kills, easy drone kills. A fast tech to mutas is probably the best way to deal with it. You'll want mutas on that map anyways. The problem is that it sets you back a lot, losing your queens, and the early hellion attacks are designed, as stated above, to force you into delaying spire.

Just straight up muta ling? Use the ling to attack the ghosts when he drops them, and use the muta to chase the medvac.

GuineaPig's build was actually really cool. The focal point of the harass was the 4 ghosts in a medivac, but he also had helions running around a viking sniping overlords. His execution wasn't perfect, he probably could've gotten twice as many drones and queens if he played it properly. He got the win because Idra didn't respond correctly, which is fair enough. I doubt it's a build he's ran into often, if at all.
|
It's certainly a good strategy if you're not prepared for it, since it seems to require a quick tech to muta to effectively counter.
