Huk is obviously a player with potential, otherwise TL wouldnt have recruited him. I do however agree that his play needs some refinement in comparison to IdrA who has a clear and distinct style that he wants to play. I dont think Huk has really found his comfort zone yet but I think he will do fine in code A, he might not get promoted to code S this season but he could definitely get up there in the next.

I wouldnt call Huk any more abusive than MC to be honest, MC has a lot of 1 base pushes that he does and I havent seen a lot of macro play from him either, and people praise him as the best toss in the world.

Besides, Huk didnt have real chances to show his play yet, not qualifying for GSL open season 3 was normal since he was obviously jetlagged, we will see how he fares in the code A with his vast KR ladder experience, I can only wish him the best.
And to reach the GSL code S final only to be destroyed by IdrA of course

This. I really get the feeling that the fanbases are much more rabid about the "rivalry" (not even sure you could realistically call it that, they haven't really met often in tournaments) than the players, although they may not be bff.

Regardless, it's pointless for anyone here to argue about who is better at starcraft. They're both good players, and the tournament record will tell the tale in the end.

I've had the "Kill Everybody" dubstep song from IdrA's stream stuck in my head for the past 3 days. He has pretty awesome music on his stream. Nothing like loading up an IdrA stream to hear "I want to kill everybody in the world." Perfect!

I think not only IdrA but many Zergs need to look twice; I see them often run away with 30 mutas from 10 stimmed marines with no medivac support, if you stayed you could do some heavy damage.
If there's really just 10 stimmed marines there, just leave with your mutas and come back when stim is over. 10 stimmed marines can do a lot, and it costs no gas to replenish them.

About the Huk/Ladder thing, remember the ChoyafOu (I think) scandal? When you lose a game you lose a smaller amount of points than you gain when you win. If you play enough games with even a 50% win rate (like most people get) you can easily move up the ladder quite quickly.
Ladder position isn't a great metric for skill, especially when we're comparing IdrA to HuK, who seem to ladder in far different amounts.

That was mainly because of the difference in the new master rank of around 2400 and the true mmr that was around 3500 for Choya, actually. The point inflation lasts until that point. Even after that, though, you might sometimes get 1 point more when you win than if you'd lose vs an even opponent.

Is there a link to replays / vods for this tourney?

I want to know too.

What tornament was this in? Machinima? Gosu? There are SO MANY team tournaments that it is difficult to know.

Found it:

Aw man no replays/VODs? Just one lame forum post.

Idra loses a ladder game and BM"s half the world sees it on youtube.

Idra ALL-KILLS another pro gaming team and it gets swept under the rug.

NO JUSTICE I TELL YA! NO JUSTICE AT ALL! Doesn't EG want to promote its players accomplishments?? Or am I just a dumb ass who can't find them.

I'm a huge IdrA fan and didn't think HuK was THAT great compared to him before moving to Korea. If you guys actually watch his stream now, you'll see how much HuK has improved. The kid is amazing, he's going to do really well in GSL. Just watch. HuK's mechanics are top notch and so are his timings, you guys are nuts for saying he isn't good. I guess it's the same people claiming Jinro was a baddy for not qualifying for GSL 1 and 2. He sure shut you guys up. Nonetheless, if there were an epic clash between IdrA and HuK in GSL I'd cheer for IdrA.

Huk is an amazing play, I REALLY like him AND his play style.

With that said, I think that IMO white-ra in the best protoss. In the world. Yes, better than any Korean protoss. Huk is up there with the best, but White-ra just is something else. This man is getting rich playing starcraft, you don't see that everyday.

The bigger SC2 becomes, the more ridiculous attacks between rival fans there will be. Everyone keeps on going about how we want SC2 to be a real competitive sport - well, heated arguments over the internet are just the tip of the iceberg in established sports. I have been beaten up on the street just for wearing a scarf with my team's colours... I'm not saying that it's something good and that this is the way it should be, neither am I saying that it is not. However, these discussion will only become more and more intense with time, so get used to them. If you want to improve the quality of the forums posts, try to shift these discussions into something productive - but telling people to stop doing is pointless and, essentially, flooding the threads.

It's ok to value others above him. To say Idra is better is fine. To say Huk isn't good is simple ignorance and unwarranted. It's like people claiming Idra isn't good because he didn't win GSL; yet all driven by personal like/dislike, something which would also be ignorant and unwarranted. Tournaments are #1 for skill measurement but there's no doubt that doing good in the Korean ladder means you're very good. Not the best, because that is determined by tournaments, but very good nonetheless.

While your statement is correct, you must understand the context you're posting in. IdrA himself has stated his dislike of HuK's play, so you should presume his fans would also jump on that idea because it came from IdrA and internalise it as their own notions regarding HuK's playing ability.

Eh... No, no one should presume such a thing. Or I guess I should not open games with "gl hf" and "gg" before I quit, even when I've been cheese, just because I am an Idra fan? People are often stupid but if you explain their views and motivations this way and even assume that they have them, you would end up becoming a really narrow-minded person. For example, there are perfectly fine reasons not to like Huk - his play is all-in-ish, while the other two most popular players, Idra and Jinro, are macro-oriented. And yet, you simply explain people's attitude towards Huk with Idra's statements.

Wow, coming from the BW boards I thought TBLS fanboyism ran awry...good lord this is 10x worse. o.O Both players are great...sure I like IdrA, and I don't like that 100% of games I've seen HuK vs. Idra have been cannon rushes, but still...Huk's pretty good by any standard.
