Please use spoilers when quoting a post with pictures and/or videos.
When posting large quantities of media (pictures or videos), please begin spoilering after the first piece. Grouping related videos in the same spoilers & labeling is recommended.
No reposting of old material unless justified
Posting any material with little or no relevent discussion accompanying it
No passion-induced flaming of each other because 'x said y sucked' etc.
Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level
No 'pagetopping' in any form whatsoever, as it constitutes spam equal to posts similar to 'first'.
No vulgar fan fics or wet dream stories. It is creepy, weird, and it dehumanizes the people who you are here to celebrate/discuss.
Normal posting standards that you find throughout the rest of the site still apply and will be enforced more strictly from here forward (2012/03/11)
Due to the poor nature of this thread in the past, temporary two-day bans will occur more than often if people slip up.

It’s not that easy to leave when you are made a star, and anyone normal would get depressed living like that and having literally zero control over your life and your image at age 27.
I mean maybe the fact he was depressed had nothing to do with the horrendous pressure and horrifying lifestyle imposed by an uber abusive industry. Maybe.
I don't think its that easy to leave Slave Master Entertainment even ignoring the legal consequences, this is the life he knows and has known. They made him, shaped him, taught him how to dance, how to walk, how to talk, its all he knows.
Its not uncommon for famous people to get depression due to all of the pressure(and frankly, hate). Wouldnt be suprised if it played a factor.
Hope it will lead to some change but im skeptical
SM is not stupid, they probably gave him all of the mental help they could but mental health is not fixable by medicine or a pill.
What more can I say? Just tell me I worked hard. That it was good of me to come this far. That I worked hard. Even if you can't smile as you let me go, please don't blame me. I worked hard. I really did work hard.
Good bye.

It was taken from Nine (of Dear Cloud) social media. JongHyun left instructions for her to release when he passed. His family permission was sought and granted before Nine release the note.
so....we are to assume that nine knew jonghyun was going to commit suicide and no authorities or relevant people were warned previously?
its a shame that another korean celebrity has taken their own life, but its not surprising at all. the korean entertainment industry is absolutely disgusting behind the scenes. its not just an issue of the way the celebrities are treated and managed by companies, but its the culture and mentality that is drilled into them and the fact that they have to weak "masks" their entire life until they decide to step out of the spotlight (if they can). fans (foreign fans in particular if you look at comments on allkpop and the like) also need to claim some responsibility imo. the sheer amount of deluded fans who think their favourite celebrities are pure, angels, model citizens etc is ridiculous and only adds to the pressure and lies that celebrities have to try to live up to. unless the korean entertainment industry comes clean about the sex, drugs, prostitution, corruption on top of the superficial and shallow mentalities, anyone who enters that industry must brace themselves for an incredibly depressing life.
Foreign fans are going to be largely irrelevant here. These artists are going to be reading primarily Korean outlets, not international ones. Sasaengs also take things to a much greater level of crazy than what you see in most of the world.
In any event, there have been many pieces on just how bad it is there. There have been other celebrities who have killed themselves over these same things. Nothing changed then and I don't expect anything to change now. It's the kind of thing that's going to need at least another generation to occur, since it will require such an overhaul of the culture and people in top management positions. You basically need the existing executives to die off and be replaced.

the artists themselves may not be as aware of how foreign fans perceive them, but companies arent. foreign fans are very much accounted for nowadays and obviously this will impact their management of their assets. the increase in celebrities that are fluent in english and are from other countries has also helped to reduce the isolated appreciation that foreign fans had.
also it was incredibly selfish of jonghyun to tell nine about those things and then follow through with suicide. if youre gonna tell someone about it, give them a chance to help you. nine has to live with the burden of knowing jonghyun was severely depressed, couldnt do anything to help him, was too late to save him and then had to be the one to pass on his last words. feel sorry for that person
