With that said, not a big fan of the song at first listen. Interested in seeing the choreography once they perform.
You're just looking through rose-colored glasses, then.
Hyunah has been criticized every time for exactly this kind of thing and it just keeps getting worse. There's a line where sexy becomes trashy and she's consistently on the wrong side of it.
It's inane to try and portray 3/4 of the people agreeing with this as some kind of hateful bashing, rather than it being a consensus and accepting that there's probably a pretty damn good reason so many people think the same way.
Moreover, the initial responses were IN FAVOR of it, which completely guts your theory of hateful bandwagoning.

Yes, she's been criticized for it before, and I think the same thing now as I did then. I don't think she's ever done anything over the top when you compare her to what's out there. The only concerns I have is that she was a bit young at first, but, again, she's hardly the only example, particularly in the Kpop industry, and she's 21 now.
Make no mistake, I'm not saying I approve of or prefer Hyuna going this route. However, I find that the amount of backlash and hate she gets is undeserved and unreasonable. Again, she's hardly the only music artist to make that type of MV or go with that kind of look/style, and there are more extreme examples. So she shows lots of skin and makes out with Hyun-seung... So what?
I fail to see where I was trying to forward a theory of "hateful bandwagoning" either. All I did was point out that the hate that was being expressed against Hyuna with the release of this MV was, in my opinion, unreasonable and unwarranted. I didn't argue or imply that there was some sort of bandwagoning going on or that there was a majority ganging up on her. It's also confusing when you argue that there's a consensus negative opinion, and then argue that the initial responses were positive to attack what you perceived as my "bandwagoning" argument.
Misogynistic labels are fast becoming the new racist label. You can throw it around all you want, doesn't make it a reality.
Anyways, I don't care what labels get thrown around I'm calling it for what it is. I've got nothing against Hyuna and wish her the best but as evidenced with the whole Miley debacle you can only push so far before people just think it's freakish. If that's what they're going for, so be it. But again, you have to suck up and take responsibility for your actions (even if directed by those above you). Simple as that. It's ironic how much people complain about other throwing around their morals onto others when they're doing the same thing but trying to label them things that will try and shut them up. Sorry that's not how free speech and debate works.
And let's take this to an entirely different direction, that MV clearly shows two broken people in an abusive relationship and, by making it "sexy," basically glorifies it. So if that becomes the new "normal" you're gonna have a lot of confused people growing up on this.
In the end though it's a MV and thus not the end of the world. It is sad to me though that the people who create this think this is good entertainment.
The last scene with them in the blanket was super qt. But I don't get why they try to do that concept, if they ain't gunna commit fully too it. Could have been a lot more grim and dark, just looked like a lot of trashiness rather than brutality.
I agree that the MV does not promote something very commendable (even though I don't even know any of the lyrics), but I'd say everyone in here have about enough hindsight not to get influenced by this, and thus can enjoy it as it is without redefining their standards for a "recommendable relationship". And I want to believe Koreans are the same. Plus, it has pretty good visuals, I mean the shots were great, lights and colors were enjoyable, no boxes, a lot of extras, smooth dancing, beautifull people... And the song is ok to me, chill and enjoyable as well.

Seems like the only reasonable person in this thread.
Maybe we should adopt a rule that would consist in always directing the hate against the agency, and not the idol, for everything that looks like a management issue ^^.
BESTie Love Option dance practice:
Reminds me when I watched the SISTAR So Cool dance practice video, I get the same vibes =). Haeryung too skinny maybe?

it really doesn't matter how trashy the mv gets. in recent months ga-in has literally shot a softcore porno so this is tame by comparison. and nobody called 'bloom' trashy. I think it's more of the way hyuna's been marketed rather than the content itself that leads the majority of the audience to label her slutty.
for me, the way in which the mv was presented was more of an issue as it essentially romanticizes and condones abusive relationships and alcoholism. usually when there are abusive relationships portrayed in music videos, you feel that there's a mutual conclusion to the relationship, or the abuser is punished in the end (ie; big bang's lies). but in this track, the behavior is somewhat glorified to an extent. really though, that's an afterthought and it's not like shit like this has popped up here and there in the west as well.

Well obviously you'd have to go to full extremes to invalidate my argument. I will empathize the words, just for you.
Do people really believe that Hyuna is in full control of how she gets portrayed?
So no, I don't believe she's a slave and in fact has say in whatever she wants or doesn't want.
Hope this kind of arguing works out for you in the real world though.
I love how dance choreography can make songs so much better. Just offf the top of my head, songs in recent years like Fiction and Lucifer, and new songs like Shinee's Everybody and BESTie's Love Options are all great but the dancing makes engaging with the music so much more entertaining.

Netizens != the public fyi
What you see on Netizenbuzz does not always represent public opinion.
Other than that you are probably right but I didn't bother watching the MV myself so I don't really care about this whole discussion.
@Hallowed- I think he knows that, and that's why public is in quotes.
I too think he knows, but many many many people do not know that so I believe it is good to get that out there either way.
i have a final exam tomorrow so naturally i decided to go down kpop memory lane and stumbled upon some of my favorite boa songs from a long time ago. she was just 15-16 years old in these performances.unbelievably good!

And Miley got talked about for the first time in years, she released a music video that got people's attention, and her songs are doing pretty well. It's the same with Cube here. They know what they're doing. They get a lot of abuse on the internets but people bought the shit out of the last Troublemaker release and will do the same with this one. The thing is that sex sells. GsD now are selling far better than when they did the over the top aegyo act, and Dal Shabet got talked about again for perhaps the first time since Supa Dupa Diva when they did their skirt-stripping dance.
@Hallowed- I think he knows that, and that's why public is in quotes.
I kind of agree with Cyric, not just about this issue and not just on here but I find that people tend to take Korean netizens views of things on certain issues, especially regarding sexuality and relationships. It's kinda what i was trying to get at yesterday when I said that people tend to buy into the kpop storylines a bit too much. I find it weird cause half of this behavior could be done in a western MV and not experience any backlash but as soon as it's Koreans doing it everyone's all up in arms.
