The letter in the second half was nice as well. We pretty much all knew Kaori would die and I'm fine with that to be honest. The ending could have been better with Kaori surviving but only if the story had been different. With the constant death flags and the way the story went, her death was the only way to not make a shit end.
Overall I think it was fine but that's it. While I still enjoyed it, it's not really a good show in my eyes. The music carried it pretty hard. Too much melodrama, bad pacing and unfitting/not funny comedy. It's sad to see people on MAL throwing 10/10s at a show with so many obvious flaws. #29, it's pathetic. I respectfully disagree with the people in this thread who are "meh" on Shigatsu, and there are a lot of them. From my perspective it is the best directed/written show of the last year (although by written I really mean "structured," if that makes any sense). Your tastes on the appropriate amount of "melodrama" and your ability to switch gears between humor and drama might vary, but whatever the show chose to do, it did well. MAL ratings in general get a lot of shit, but I think they are a very reliable indicator of the quality of writing and direction, and I don't think this show is an exception. The director made his debut with this show and I'm excited to see what he can do with worse source material.

shit i fucked up. Watched Saekano, then watched Shigatsu. Shoulda watched it the other way around so Saekano could cheer me up after that Shigatsu ending. cried/10 So good. Held out until + Show Spoiler +she said i love you in the letter, then it just flowed until the end The whole show was beautiful. I'm giving it 9/10.
I actually liked how they ended it. + Show Spoiler +since we all knew she was going to die, they didn't even bother showing her death physical, just the metaphysical of her playing with arima one last time which i loved...that whole scene was amazing. Then they glanced over her funeral b/c it was something completely expected. I didn't expect everything in that letter to be the way it was. But i liked it.
Plus they showed tsubaki being tsubaki in the end and arima finally understanding her a little more. I'm glad that those two end up together, it's what i wanted the whole time anyways.
And Saekano remains to be one of the best if not the best of the season. Michiru was great. I donno, i think she might be Utaha level

Wanted a happy ending with Kaori alive even if it meant that she'll die offscreen in the near future. However, all the death flags seemed to be saying that she will die so from that perspective, it make sense but the whole surgery part, the whole I'll do it even if it means a bit more time etc... oh well, in the end, they were both satisfied and she ended up being with Arima and helped lift him up which made her die in peace. Can't ask for better (iho). + Show Spoiler [Tokyo Ghoul] +This one is odd. We did hear that he had a daughter but to take over her father and be the second owl. She's nowhere near the same refined level imo (based on past owl fight flashbacks). Also, they killed Amon but not Kaneki. Cmon, don't do this to us! I always liked Amon's character and figured that he'll survive from everyone else even when it looked like they were all going to die.
Other than that, didn't like the fact that this new CCG member just came out of nowhere (it feels like) and is going toe to toe (well, not really lol, he was winning) the second owl. Just feels a bit odd to me but still, nice to see the fights. Always entertaining and I wonder how Kaneki's friend managed to survive his meeting with those two top Aogiri members (maybe he's a ghoul then?) regarding tokyo ghoul's anime plot. just take it and go.

From what i figure about MAL ratings, that just depends on whether i believe the average anime fan shares the same taste i do. But usually, trying to take so many different things and putting a number on them doesn't seem to work out so well imo. Not to mention, everyone has different priorities.
omg, the gen urobuchi, Nasu, narita, and other person self-insert novel made over a table top rpg. I'm so excited for that.
Gakkou Gurashi sounds funny shirayuki-hime sounds like akatsuki no yona I wonder if godeater will have normal ufotable budget. maybe i will watch ilya if i ever get to watching the first season (prob not)
Symphogear and Gate hype!

To be honest, the MAL ratings often only give an idea about if a show is rather good or rather bad. There are some cases however where the rating is heavily inflated and the show is overrated/underrated because people love/hate it so much that they can't see its weaknesses/strengths. Apparent examples for this are SnK, Death Note and now Shigatsu. I can see how someone likes melodrama, that doesn't make it a good show though. Like != quality.

+ Show Spoiler [Shigatsu] +Ending was expected. Loved the animation and music was good.
But the melodrama, love triangles/rectangles and violent female leads were just meh.
Btw what was Kaori illness ? Did i missed it somehow or it was never specified ?

Mal ratings are decentish. I have my gripes as I'm sure everyone does (they're wrong, I'm right though duh). Gintama movie is top dog. Gintama, Clannad, FMA;B, HxH 2011, Steins, all really solid and I don't mind any of them in top 5. I really, really love the author of Gintama especially.

OPM will be animated by madhouse Might actually turn out to be decent.

The premise of the manga sounds good. How is it?
|
How much you enjoy OPM depends on what you expect from it and what your general tastes are. At its core it's a parody of generic battle shounens, and is mostly just comedy. Occasionally it gets a bit serious and it has some really well executed action scenes as well, but if you go into it looking for that you'll probably be disappointed.
To me it's one of my absolute favourite manga of all time and the original webcomic is just as good even if the art is a lot worse, if you do read the manga i can recommend the original webcomic afterwards for sure if you like the manga.
The series can be summed up with: + Show Spoiler +

OPM is similar to Gintama. Gintama is probably more serious at times lol.

Parody of generic battle shounens sounds great. I think I will give it a go, even though I'm not much of a manga fan/reader. And even if the manga is nothing for me, the animation of it probably will be.

Read up the first 8 chapters of OPM now and it's good fun.

Tokyo Ghoul + Show Spoiler +Pretty sure the new CCG guy was the guy in the flashback when we saw how Mr. Mado's wife died. The he was referred to back then made it seem like he was the most badass of all. Also, he had black hair back then. About Amon, I don't think he will be dead, probably just mega fucked up like Kaneki. Though I'm really interested to see what Kanek's old buddy will say to him, can't even remember the guy's name.
