We pretty much all knew Kaori would die and I'm fine with that to be honest. The ending could have been better with Kaori surviving but only if the story had been different. With the constant death flags and the way the story went, her death was the only way to not make a shit end.
Overall I think it was fine but that's it. While I still enjoyed it, it's not really a good show in my eyes. The music carried it pretty hard. Too much melodrama, bad pacing and unfitting/not funny comedy. It's sad to see people on MAL throwing 10/10s at a show with so many obvious flaws. #29, it's pathetic.
That's really the best end, so good. xD

roughly shoujo ai = yuri, shounen ai = male version of yuri (not quite bara)

LOL that alternate ending is great.
+ Show Spoiler [Shigatsu final Episode] +Meh, not a big fan of the show... a lot of flashbacks everywhere, overreactions everywhere, obvious Kaori died since very early etc. But the music was good and at least they didn't mess up the ending unnecessarily. I'd give it a 7/10, mostly for the music.
On another note, I always forget that Tokyo Ghoul exists in this season, it helps a little. + Show Spoiler [Tokyo Ghoul] +Though I must say the random showing of imba guys is getting old, I was kinda hoping for a slaughter of the humans and a sad ending. Now of course I wonder who that white haired human is. Cool fights again.
But on the other hand I shouldn't be surprised as we haven't seen many characters yet, though I would have thought that if the humans had such a badass we would know earlier.

It's even worse when there are strong heroines like Kato (and Utaha). People have made up their minds already long ago by the time Michiru appears. o/

+ Show Spoiler [Shigatsu] +Well, it didn't go down as I hoped it would. Wanted a happy ending with Kaori alive even if it meant that she'll die offscreen in the near future. However, all the death flags seemed to be saying that she will die so from that perspective, it make sense but the whole surgery part, the whole I'll do it even if it means a bit more time etc... oh well, in the end, they were both satisfied and she ended up being with Arima and helped lift him up which made her die in peace. Can't ask for better (iho).
+ Show Spoiler [Tokyo Ghoul] +This one is odd. We did hear that he had a daughter but to take over her father and be the second owl. She's nowhere near the same refined level imo (based on past owl fight flashbacks). Also, they killed Amon but not Kaneki. Cmon, don't do this to us! I always liked Amon's character and figured that he'll survive from everyone else even when it looked like they were all going to die.
Other than that, didn't like the fact that this new CCG member just came out of nowhere (it feels like) and is going toe to toe (well, not really lol, he was winning) the second owl. Just feels a bit odd to me but still, nice to see the fights. Always entertaining and I wonder how Kaneki's friend managed to survive his meeting with those two top Aogiri members (maybe he's a ghoul then?)
