Do you guys know any other good manga sites? Use mangatraders.com or the translators IRC channel, please don't use online readers they make a fat profit off of the free content that we, the fan translators, make available - online readers are one of the biggest things holding back the manga industry overseas. Maybe there should be a mod note of this above the thread. I had no idea about this, probably because I barely/don't read manga. Not really needed, it wouldn't make a difference because typical TL/reddit/liberal pirates don't give a shit because they're just thieves and just want the laziest possible option. Show nested quote + Do you guys know a good image viewer that is free? The default for windows doesn't utilize the full resolution of the manga page and you can't scroll up or down easily...
I just use default, mouse wheel zooms in, left click and hold moves up and down.
I don't use translation either way but it's weird for translate team who use others' work for free to complain about others doing the same thing.

The difference is this, we don't use anything for profit and when a series is licensed we immediately take down all of our downloads, everything is free and to promote the liscensure and popularity of the series we translate. Then you have online readers, which get click income and flat income from ad companies and are extremely lucrative and don't take down licensed series except for maybe the 7 or 8 that they can get DMCAd on.

Way to generalize the fan-subbing/translating groups as angels. If that were really the case you wouldn't care about online manga portals stealing your work for profit but rather causing the original content owner a loss.

Ok, before I start reading Negima, is the ENDING satisfactory? I don't like that empty feeling of leaving a manga with so many questions left unanswered. (CAGE OF EDEN)
EDIT: also, no spoilers

It's OK. Not that great but it's OK. The ending is not the point for negima though.
Did you read Love Hina? Should go for that first if not. Same author, shorter, and very good.

(look further up on this in the previous page) ^^
I really liked it even though the whole slapstick joke, i.e Keitaro being punched away by Naru, was getting reduntant by the 100th chapter. But you think Negima is worth reading?

Uh my concern was mostly the latter and I thought I came off that way, obviously not all translators are the same way, especially in anime translations where the translation community basically says whatever it's fine since CrunchyRoll basically leaks the subs to every sub group. It's annoying when people steal our stuff but the biggest issue is when lisceners see online sites like batoto and mangareader getting 100 million hits for their series where they say, well there's no fucking point to liscensing this.

No. You can tell he got tired of writing the story near the end, even ignoring the 3 month long breaks in between 10-12 page chapters. But I really liked the manga on the whole.

Alright!
I'll start reading it then.

Or they say there is evidence that there is interest in this (insert series)/medium. Would you rather see 100 million hits or none at all? In media, all publicity is good publicity. Whether the copyright owner reap the benefits is another story.

(CAGE OF EDEN) EDIT: also, no spoilers The ending... was rushed. He was really flubbing the story near the end because he just wanted to make an action series but the magazine wanted more silly harem. And then it came to an end, about 20 chapters before it should have, and there are a lot of loose ends and things that made me frown. Overall good series tho.

Well, Shinesaki yori was a great series. Don't really know what else to say about it. I liked it better than Psycho Pass and Robotics; Notes, though.

Here's the big difference from an industry standpoint though, every manga liscense company, internationally, is struggling unless they publish the international Big 5 of FT/OP/Naruto/Bleach and Vampire Knight. There are around a hundred companies struggling to actually make money that ultimately fail, this is because of the quality of releases. Not in translation, but the difference in print and computer. Recently some publishers have been trying to release online but in most cases, except big 5, that has failed and I know of two publishers that are deep in liscensing fee debt because of it. The big reasons for this is because the quality of tankoban scans available from readers is basically the same as the publishers online available material. When a series is DMCA'd like keeps happening with smaller series and WAS happening with bleach/op/naruto for like a month before MP found a loophole and started hosting again, you see increases in the publishers sales. Yeah you can look at it and say hey there's interest, the difference is if you can release a better product than the highest quality product on the market in it's country of origin, and frankly that's more than any publishing company is in a position to do internationally and it's ridiculous to expect that of them.
Now there's a huge difference here from the manga and anime industry, for 5$ a month you can stream and watch anime from crunchyroll the current market monopoly for international anime, at a quality equal to the original broadcast which is typically better than the fansubbing alternative because of the difficulty of encoding and has the best translation quality out there. CR doesn't mind when fansubbers take it's subs, in fact there's a security hole there that is purposefully left open, because they get so much of their business from the fansubbing community/userbase. In this situation, you're right about the publicity bit, CR delivers a great product at a good price at extreme ease to the user. It's just not the same in the manga and print industry.

Hey all don't post in here much.
Without being specific on what I enjoy to watch, can anyone give me some must watches from the recent winter season?
And what should I look forward to in the spring season?

Why watch anything from recent season when you can dig old seasons. And you didn't give any genre or taste example. Popular choices you find by skimming last 3 pages in 30 seconds.

+ Show Spoiler [Hayate no Gotoku Chapter 400] +That fanservice wow.... Also isn't it Nagi's fault this has dragged on to 400 and we're still not at a proper King's Jewles arc huh? Huh??
I actually can't remember which volume that promise was made... darn. I need to re-read them again sometime @.@
Although Chiharu with usamimi is a really nice touch. Hinagiku's familiar name is definitely not safe for kids. A-Tan is so snarky.
Was there supposed to be a story to this manga? I've forgotten.

did hayate ever have a story...?
|
Magi 24.... WTF happened? So I guess they are making an anime original ending that's basically opposite of what the manga is about?
