If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. TLADT discord is Discord.gg

For currently airing anime, please see Anichart.net

Well, I think the chart is the least useful thing there is.
I can't speak for everyone but if a list of 50 series with one sentence description for each, often made before the series is even seen by anyone, it still leaves me with 30 potentials. And who has the time check all those out?

I use the chart for most of my starting points for anime. A lot of the shows up there are really good, and it also gives a lot of variety of shows to watch even within specific genres.

I also firmly believe that if someone comes in and just asks for recommendations randomly without even giving thought to the chart, I'm not that surprised that people would just throw out the obvious School Days recommendation.

It's easier than personalizing a response for each and every person that asks for an anime to watch.

We could, however, replace it with this chart: Link

It's a bit more comprehensive.

Yeah I found Clannad thru the chart, so I'm personally indebted to it lol

I think the only real reason to ask for recs is if you've already tried everything in the genre on the chart that you think looks good. If you're having doubts, you can check synopsi from myanimelist, which also has reviews and recs

I have no clue how you jumped from 50 to 30 anime but I will assume that you meant that there are too many animes on that list.

So lets say a new guy comes in here looking for animes. He can easily look at that list see if he has seen any of those and then decide if he wants to see something of the same genre and make his pick. All of the animes in that list have been seen by people here in this thread so it's safe to assume that every anime on that list has its strong points in the genre that they are listed in.

And then if you cant decide between two anime I am sure that most here will be happy to help that person make a pick. But what I dont like at all is people coming in here saying "HEy I watched Death Note and now I want to watch more anime so recommend plx!!!111"

There is no point in helping these people because they apparently dont even know themselves what they want to watch.

I get the part that her personality changed after she woke up in the hospital. The other parts felt boring and I fast fowarded it so I may have missed some details but so far I get a good chunk of it

Well actually it's a coalition of us. Telling someone who says that he liked DBZ to watch School Days because they are similar animes? C'mon man. 0/10. Try harder. You deserved to get warned for that.

I dont understand some people here. There is a box on top of this thread with a big chart with lots of recommendations. And if somebody fails to see that, I see no reason why we should not have a little fun with them.

Blasty at least the art of Mirai Nostalgia looks great. I guess that helps a bit when the plot is dull?

I think the problem with that is that the list is a bit dated. I only got into anime barely a year ago and I could say that I prolly only watched like 10% of those animes on the recommended chart. And beleive me I would LOVE to catch up on all the "good" animes of our time, but simply do not have the time for it. I always find myself bookmarking old animes to watch later on cause I keep hearing good things about it etc. Next thing you know I find myself backlogged with a terabyte of anime. Good times baby...

Edit: I think recommending recent anime is what they are asking.

Ehm, I wasn't referring to that bigbig recommendations list.
Rather the Autumn/Winter/Spring/Summer charts. (and okay it's ~30 series per season)
I was responding to Gao Xi's post on the last page, which I guess I misunderstood too.

Talking about it is fine, just don't rec it.

I guess it was a 0 effort rec for a 0 effort post asking for recs cause there is a chart for that.

I'm not even making any sense anymore, this always happens to me in this thread.

:o beautiful! That is pretty awesome. Now if only I was in Tokyo this weekend for her concert

Been trying to figure out if I can even try and get tickets this late, but don't know where to look. =\

I'm pretty sure it's basically impossible to get tickets this late. I do know of one person who would be able to get you accurate information on ticket sales. If you seriously want to, I can pm you her contact info. I haven't actually heard that it got sold out, but since this is Nana, I wouldn't be surprised if she sold out long ago despite there being like 50k seats lol.

I passed by an Animate today and asked the store clerk how I could buy tickets, they checked online, and I think she tried to sign language to me that it was sold out =(. Wonder if Japan has scalpers right outside the place.

Speaking as someone who lives in Japan, your shots at getting a ticket through normal means are near 0. Tickets are usually sold out months in advance via a lottery And Nana has the special trait of actually having more female than male fans despite her origins. She also has a ton of mainstream fans from her appearance at the red-white concert last year.

The best place to look for scalpers is Yahoo Auction in Japan. They are VERY expensive we are talking a 3-5x markup. But if if price is not an issue go take a look. I am not a nana fan, but I've dumped a lot of cash for Shikata Akiko and Hatsune Miku rofl.

Proxies like Japonica will send the tickets to your hotel room.

Well, I wasn't surprised that it was sold out, but if it's 3-5x more expensive, I don't think I'd be willing to fork out that much cash =\. I might check it out tomorrow anyways. Just to see how many people there are =P.

Regarding School Days, no amount of spoilers can really prepare you for what you see. I can attest to that since I had known/read about the ending before watching it, and the road to it still blew my mind.

How long are you staying in Japan? Where in Canada are you from? I'm from Canada too haha.

Good luck with the Nana tickets. There's going to be a ton of people there. You might also be surprised by the reverse gender distribution of her fanbase. There's going to be way more women there than men.

No one ever believes me when I tell them Nana has more female fans than males. Instead, they give me this look that says "sure, Kaze, you can believe that if you want." It's really interesting that it's true though; any idea why it's like that? As someone living in Japan, I'd guess you have a much better idea than whatever theories I come up with.

lol Blast, I still can't read kanji, but those faces tell me everything I need to know.

Good luck with the Nana tickets. There's going to be a ton of people there. You might also be surprised by the reverse gender distribution of her fanbase. There's going to be way more women there than men.

I see absolutely no problem with that sort of surprise..

I have to admit despite all the vagueness and somewhat lack of consistency at times its done a pretty good job. I cant wait for the next episode. Again I hope they dont fuck it up they dont have alot of time to work with. I enjoyed this latest one quite a bit. This is a better example of how you transition between light and dark elements in a show. Much better than C3 atleast.

Thank you. I'm getting sick of reading about it. I'm glad to see that the TL mod staff is responding to our reports.

Ah so you're the butthurt person in here. I was wondering which crybaby got the mod's attention with reporting.

Well actually it's a coalition of us. Telling someone who says that he liked DBZ to watch School Days because they are similar animes? C'mon man. 0/10. Try harder. You deserved to get warned for that.

Well both usually got long build ups until the final fight, yes?

I propose this in the banner:
Rule 1. You don't talk about School Days

Thanks to whoever recommended me Chihayafuru.
I like it a lot, although it would be even better if it was about starcraft and not some card game
.

Highfive!

This guy knows whats up! Yeh yeh!

Steals all the credit. At least I THINK I was the one that told you to watch it. >.>

This entire family thing is really getting to me and making my brain spin. At this point, I doubt anyone is really in the Takakura family and it's just a made up thing.

Maybe the people in the south pole picture, all died during some event there or something, and are now pushing some agenda posthumously.I dont know theres to many ways it can be awesome and to many ways it can fail hard. Its somewhat exciting though
