If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. TLADT discord is Discord.ggFor currently airing anime, please see Anichart.net |
Well, I think the chart is the least useful thing there is. I can't speak for everyone but if a list of 50 series with one sentence description for each, often made before the series is even seen by anyone, it still leaves me with 30 potentials. And who has the time check all those out?

I love family guy and loved a lot the simpsons as a kid

I use the chart for most of my starting points for anime. A lot of the shows up there are really good, and it also gives a lot of variety of shows to watch even within specific genres.
I also firmly believe that if someone comes in and just asks for recommendations randomly without even giving thought to the chart, I'm not that surprised that people would just throw out the obvious School Days recommendation.

We could, however, replace it with this chart: Link
It's a bit more comprehensive.

Yeah I found Clannad thru the chart, so I'm personally indebted to it lol
I think the only real reason to ask for recs is if you've already tried everything in the genre on the chart that you think looks good. If you're having doubts, you can check synopsi from myanimelist, which also has reviews and recs

The quality is crap though, mind re-uploading it or breaking it down?

I have no clue how you jumped from 50 to 30 anime but I will assume that you meant that there are too many animes on that list.
So lets say a new guy comes in here looking for animes. He can easily look at that list see if he has seen any of those and then decide if he wants to see something of the same genre and make his pick. All of the animes in that list have been seen by people here in this thread so it's safe to assume that every anime on that list has its strong points in the genre that they are listed in.
And then if you cant decide between two anime I am sure that most here will be happy to help that person make a pick. But what I dont like at all is people coming in here saying "HEy I watched Death Note and now I want to watch more anime so recommend plx!!!111"
There is no point in helping these people because they apparently dont even know themselves what they want to watch.

Blasty at least the art of Mirai Nostalgia looks great. I guess that helps a bit when the plot is dull?
I think the problem with that is that the list is a bit dated. I only got into anime barely a year ago and I could say that I prolly only watched like 10% of those animes on the recommended chart. And beleive me I would LOVE to catch up on all the "good" animes of our time, but simply do not have the time for it. I always find myself bookmarking old animes to watch later on cause I keep hearing good things about it etc. Next thing you know I find myself backlogged with a terabyte of anime. Good times baby...
Edit: I think recommending recent anime is what they are asking.

Ehm, I wasn't referring to that bigbig recommendations list. Rather the Autumn/Winter/Spring/Summer charts. (and okay it's ~30 series per season) I was responding to Gao Xi's post on the last page, which I guess I misunderstood too.

Tickets are usually sold out months in advance via a lottery And Nana has the special trait of actually having more female than male fans despite her origins. She also has a ton of mainstream fans from her appearance at the red-white concert last year. The best place to look for scalpers is Yahoo Auction in Japan. They are VERY expensive we are talking a 3-5x markup. But if if price is not an issue go take a look. I am not a nana fan, but I've dumped a lot of cash for Shikata Akiko and Hatsune Miku rofl. Proxies like Japonica will send the tickets to your hotel room. Well, I wasn't surprised that it was sold out, but if it's 3-5x more expensive, I don't think I'd be willing to fork out that much cash =\. I might check it out tomorrow anyways. Just to see how many people there are =P. Regarding School Days, no amount of spoilers can really prepare you for what you see. I can attest to that since I had known/read about the ending before watching it, and the road to it still blew my mind. How long are you staying in Japan? Where in Canada are you from? I'm from Canada too haha. Good luck with the Nana tickets. There's going to be a ton of people there. You might also be surprised by the reverse gender distribution of her fanbase. There's going to be way more women there than men. I see absolutely no problem with that sort of surprise.. + Show Spoiler [ Pingdrum 21] + I have to admit despite all the vagueness and somewhat lack of consistency at times its done a pretty good job. I cant wait for the next episode. Again I hope they dont fuck it up they dont have alot of time to work with. I enjoyed this latest one quite a bit. This is a better example of how you transition between light and dark elements in a show. Much better than C3 atleast. Penguindrum is so good. + Show Spoiler +This entire family thing is really getting to me and making my brain spin. At this point, I doubt anyone is really in the Takakura family and it's just a made up thing.
I still dont get how the pieces will fit though.
+ Show Spoiler +Maybe the people in the south pole picture, all died during some event there or something, and are now pushing some agenda posthumously.I dont know theres to many ways it can be awesome and to many ways it can fail hard. Its somewhat exciting though
