And I think there was another, I forgot the settings though. It was better than The Promise Made in our Early Days, not as good as 5cm/sec, and was probably about as good as Voices of a Distant Star. Interesting. Of those works, my enjoyment of them pretty much went Voices>Promise>5cm. Voices was succinct, powerful, and the premise really leveraged Shinkai's strength in amazing scenery porn. The battles were admittedly awkward compared to top tier mecha productions but that didn't actually bother me too much. Promise was similar but felt a bit more otherworldly, skirting the bounds between life and aspiration. I really enjoyed its sunken/flooded building scenes. 5cm had the solid scenes you would expect, including exceptional ones at the beach and the night sky, but I didn't enjoy the story's disconnectedness and lack of catharsis.
I have yet to see Hoshi wo Ou, though by the time I do everyone will have stopped talking about it probably.

That is pretty awesome. Now if only I was in Tokyo this weekend for her concert Been trying to figure out if I can even try and get tickets this late, but don't know where to look. =\ I'm pretty sure it's basically impossible to get tickets this late. I do know of one person who would be able to get you accurate information on ticket sales. If you seriously want to, I can pm you her contact info. I haven't actually heard that it got sold out, but since this is Nana, I wouldn't be surprised if she sold out long ago despite there being like 50k seats lol. I passed by an Animate today and asked the store clerk how I could buy tickets, they checked online, and I think she tried to sign language to me that it was sold out =(. Wonder if Japan has scalpers right outside the place.
Speaking as someone who lives in Japan, your shots at getting a ticket through normal means are near 0. Tickets are usually sold out months in advance via a lottery And Nana has the special trait of actually having more female than male fans despite her origins. She also has a ton of mainstream fans from her appearance at the red-white concert last year.
The best place to look for scalpers is Yahoo Auction in Japan. They are VERY expensive we are talking a 3-5x markup. But if if price is not an issue go take a look. I am not a nana fan, but I've dumped a lot of cash for Shikata Akiko and Hatsune Miku rofl.
Proxies like Japonica will send the tickets to your hotel room.

One thing about enjoyment value regarding Shinkai's works is how well you connect with the message he's trying to convey, so I think it's really difficult to objectively rate them in terms of enjoyment. Even with Hoshi, I can't say I didn't enjoy it and it was entertaining, but there are just too many faults that I wouldn't expect from him. And of course, how much you value the insanely amazing scenery will impact your opinion. Furthermore, I'll admit that in terms of "moral of the story," coming terms to death is not something that I've had a problem with (at this point in my life) so certain scenes may have had a much less impression on me compared to someone else. Regardless, I still feel Hoshi was not very good.

Go watch Nichijou As a true tank, your build depends heavily on enemy team comp. That said, HoG, Merc Treads, Aegis, Sunfire Cape are the type of items you want. Rammus gets natural Armor/MR from his W but his natural health pool is garbo. You want to build health items on him to compliment his Defensive Ball Curl.
What was that not the point of your post? :p

I just thought the storytelling in Promises was subpar compared with Voices and 5cm/sec.

I honestly couldn't stand this show. I dropped it after the 2nd EP. Maybe I didn't give it much of a chance. I hear it's getting a 2nd season too.

Why not? It's a great show. It has the best comedy/romance/drama/action/mystery/intrigue out of any show. No anime fan should miss out on this masterpiece.

Well that was my point right, that most comedy these days tend to have SoL elements. it's just a matter of the degree to which it has SoL.

I'm almost sad that I stumbled on School Days on my own instead of giving someone the satisfaction of + Show Spoiler + recommending it to me.

Its best when you stumble upon it yourself. Cause then you have no one to be mad at but yourself.

It's alright. At times it's really lame and boring. At other times it does a pretty good job at being funny.

so how much yuri do you think will be in this movie? If nothing else, this picture can give Blast hope for the possibilities.

I think Blast is already at his limit when he sees those two holding hands.

So, I'm pretty much completely new to anime and this thread seems pretty daunting. Sorta like a 2D Japanese KMD. But over the past 2 years, I've watched 4 animes (Sailormoon/Kenshin/Deathnote/Madoka) due to random circumstances and loved all of them so I figured it's about time I visited this thread. Looking for a new anime to watch but I wanted to ask, what's with School Days? People keep recommending it and/or calling it awful. I can't tell if it's some running troll or just difference in tastes.
EDIT: wow, even more than 1500 pages back, http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=94273¤tpage=150

It's not awful, but you're doing yourself a disservice if you ask for any information more than that before watching the entire series yourself.
