Wakfu, french cartoon, so funny you will spend most the time laughing yourself to death, but also have a serious face during the plot changes...
i easily give this tv serie a 10/10 , its so beautiful, cute, hilarious and entertaining on a different level.. if you like Anime or cartoons, i highly recommend checking out Wakfu. theres 2 seasons, and a 3rd MAYBE in the making
heres the intro song,, its amazing..especially with the intro video..
Wouldn't say 10/10, but Wakfu is pretty damn good for a children's cartoon. It's even better if you played their game (it's p2p now though), since a lot of the game world/lore/rules ties directly with the ingame stuff (wayyy better than how pokemon games tied with the games). I found the plot to be amazing, but some of the jokes are pretty meh. The animations and battle scenes are great imo, though.
The best part about the series though is the bonus episode on how Nox, the main villain comes to be. After watching through the first season, it really paints him in a different (and chilling) light.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower is one the best movies I've seen in recent times. I have to admit, at some point the movie felt without a certain path. Despite that, in the end it all came together, and I felt kinda sad for the main character. The ending is actually somewhat shocking, but it may be hard to understand at first.
Definitely recommended: 9/10
Wasn't the first time I was hearing something about this movie. Guess in the end I had way too much expectations from it. And the way you described the movie, I thought there would be another sad ending. But it wasn't as sad as I was expecting it to be. At times it felt empty like you said, and I didn't really like it. But it's not a bad movie either.
I'm really glad it didn't turn out bad like the main character ending up + Show Spoiler +
dead comitting suicide
or something otherwise i'd not have recommended that movie to any friend at all, and even less from the sensitive ones.
Oh well. Thank for the recommandation though overall I'd say 6,5/10.
Threads (1984) Very realistic account of a nuclear holocaust in Sheffield, England, shot like a documentary. Bleak, grim and utterly melancholic, possibly the most depressing movie I have ever seen.

Yeah, maybe I "over-hyped" it, but the ending was still kinda sad imo (maybe not that shocking). I mean, the movie started with on a low tone, and steadily went into a happier mood. But then, it all collapsed and the auntie turned out to be someone unexpected. But maybe I did rate it a bit too high, I guess I focused more on the story than everything else.
EDIT: On a different topic, could anyone suggest some good action movies with cool fighting scenes? Something like Enter the Dragon, Ong Bak, Ip Man or Old Boy.

8/10 - would not watch again
Threads is a very good movie on the subject, but it's basically a lesser and more drawn out version of the original in the genre, Peter Watkins' The War Game (1965). The War Game was so impressive at the time it actually won an Oscar for best Documentary even though it's a fictional film. No one has made better docudramas than Peter Watkins.

Le Fils A carpenter takes on a new apprentice. However, the two of them have a past. Subtle and beautiful. Another great movie by the Dardenne brothers. 8/10
This was decent. At first it seemed like a clone of The Road except with fungus zombies. The story of course has to be interesting rather than well told to keep the attention of gamers. But the ending was good and unexpected.
I went and took my daughter to see Monster's University over the weekend for my birthday. I loved it, it was really good and there was a few parts that actually made me say wow.
Decent Swedish Horror movie. I did not have high expectations because it's a Swedish horror movie, but I was pleasantly surprised, the movie were bloody and had a good chunk of gore and the effects were really good in comparison with other Swedish movies. And they had a relative low budget to begin with so I think they did good with what they had. 5/10
Ghost in the shell: Arise: Border 1: Ghost pain + Show Spoiler +
'Overheard' Pinski in #teamliquid saying there was a new series of Ghost in the shell, and, being a fan of the films, soundtracks and to a somewhat lesser extent, the series, I had to see it. Kise Kazuchika took over directing from Oshii Mamoru, there's a brand new cast of voice actors, new guy Cornelius (Oyamada Keigo) is in charge of music, and the story's timeline is before the 1995 original film, to make the changeover complete.
The status of the original, combined with the cult following of the manga, makes the boots to be filled look like seven-league boots, and the new guys and gals are not filling them, at all.
The story is pretty generic, the characters are exact physical copies of what they were in the previous films, but their characters are juvenile and dumbed-down, the music is boring. Everything breathes an air of reeks of uninspiredness, and coming from the country know for its 100% mentality and with a name linking it to the Ghost in the shell of yore, that is very disappointing.

Just tired of shitty action flicks, can't find anything to watch and I know you TL movie connoisseurs have something great for me. Thx.
Sea Inside (2004). Watch it now! Seriously its easily one of the top 3 movies made in the past decade. Its hell of emotional and makes you question your views on life like no other movie.... literally. Unfortunately for some weird reason its pretty unknown, although it even won an oscar for best foreign film (not that it means anything in terms of quality, but at least ud expect it to be more known because of it).

Yeah, Mar adentro was pretty good. Not fantastic, but pretty good. But to recommend a few films which maybe will be of interest: Adaptation (2002) - or any of Kaufman's films. Synecdoche, New York was pretty good. The Three Colours trilogy or La double vie de Véronique. (Not in english and done in the 90's, I know, but they definitely are worth watching. Good stuff.)
Recently watched Sin City (2004), loved the art style and action sequences, the storytelling is unique and it was fun to see the story arcs come together. 8.5/10
Saw Trance lastly, a movie by Danny Boyle who has made Slumdog millionaire and a good film about drugs which I can't remember the name...
Quick pitch : a dude get involved in stealing a pricey painting, get hit in the face, can't remember where he put it. Needless to say his associates aren't too happy about that... And after some special attention they decide the only way is to try hypnose.
Subjectively a 10/10. Loved the pacing, the theme, the visuals, everything. It's also a good mindfuck at times and I enjoy those as well. Objectively, definitely not for everyone. Some buddies couldn't stand it and left midway. Not much gore though, but psychologically it can get rough, I guess. Or simply boring if you don't like the concept.
I had a problem with Synecdoche: for me at least it I was never able to just stop thinking about how impossible a million things in it were, it just didn't succeed in putting me in a place where I wanted to suspend disbelief. And it made me spend too much time trying to keep track of who was who because it's both sort of important to keep track of that in this film and also hard to follow. It was interesting but I didn't find it enjoyable to watch.
I watched Departures (2008). For those who don't know it, it's a Japanese masterpiece about a professional casketer that deals with his childhood problems while trying to find peace in the extra-ordinary job he's doing. In Japan, the process of encoffining is marked by a traditional ceremony where the casketer cleans the body, puts make-up on it in a poised and sober manner, and the film depicts this absolutely beautifully. How I see it, the film ends up being a sort of life haiku, and is breathtaking.
9/10 would watch again and recommend it to everyone and anyone.

I saw this a while back and had high hopes, but I was disappointed. The story sounds interesting on paper, but it ended up feeling contrived and cliché. I was hoping for some good music with of all the cello business, but the (I assume) original soundtrack was rather dull and unimaginative (like all other asian "classical" music I have heard). They should have done a better job. It's not a bad movie per se, but definitely over-hyped. A weak 7/10 for me.
Saw the third arc of Berserk. Unlike the anime it tried to lead into more series. I suppose the supernatural aspect was a bit unexpected. The images were great though.
I had originally said I'd stop watching these shows because the Third berserk anime arc ended with everyone dying. So I don't know why I watched this one.
