I expect at least half of them to die, and the rest to suffer. Renly also seemed like a decently good guy and he too died. I get wolf in sheepskin wibe from both the Tyrells.
Bad things keep happening to them because of their stupid mother.

I hope bad things happen to that woman.

Btw is Jon Snow the only rightheous charachter in the series? The rest of the main cast seem are all gray, even Dany (with the exception of Joffrey ofcourse).
GRRM has said in an interview that he doesnt believe any of the characters are purely good or purely evil, more that they all have good and evil mixed inside them, much like real people.

Question: Who was involved at Winterfell at the end of season 2? That was unclear to me. They bagged Theon to take him back home, I assume, and weren't there Northern forces surrounding the keep at that point? But then the opening of season 3 shows the whole place is slaughtered. Just confused as to what the hell happened there...
Maybe I shouldn't know yet? lol

I think it's safe to say that realpolitik is one of the themes of the show, and it goes out of it's way repeatedly to show that traditional values have no place in the harsh reality of King's Landing. That said, I think the Stark children are for the most part pretty innocent, which could explain why bad things keep happening to them. I have nothing but sympathy for Sansa and Arya. I would say Davos (onion knight) would fit Eddard Starks righteous way. He fears Stannis but still has courage to say against. Of course Barristan Selmy too. Tyrion talking with Tywin was so wrong many ways. Tyrion didn't get any glory and Tywin said he doesn't need any at all, yet Tywin had epic ceremony at last episode of season 2. Seems they have some rivalry coming up knowing how Tyrion thinks after that.
That wasn't at Tywin's request, that was Joffreys

The sacking of Winterfell is left a mystery on purpose. The castle that Robb visits in the opening of Season 3 isn't Winterfell, it's Harrenhal
|
That makes sense, thanks. I knew Robb wasn't going back to Winterfell, but Harrenhal looked so similar there..

It is annoying that show leaves intentional mysteries like the Winterfell burning. I now know there must be some crazy or surprising spoiler explanation, but it makes fans who just watch the show think they missed something or there is some major plot hole.
|
I've decided this show is infinitely better if you watch it in a binge since the story threads actually get momentum. Every time I've watched it week to week it seems really bad and scattered and pointless and stuff, but I've gone back and done season 2 all this week and now it seems so much better. I think this season I'm not gonna watch and then about a week before the finale watch them all, capped off with the finale itself when it's on.

Edit: Never mind, misread your post.

I agree with this. I watched season 1 in like 3 days which yeah, goes very quick and then you gotta wait a year but it's just a much better viewing experience overall. I watched season 2 week by week and I realized I prefer much more the way I spectated season 1. I just watched the first episode of the 3rd season because I couldn't resist but I decided that I am gonna wait till they're done and then watch all of them at once

...I was jetlagged and woke up at 5am with nothing to do.

I pretty much watched seasons 1 and 2 in the span of a week. Then didnt even realize that season 3 was just a couple days away.

This again? You guys do it for the reaction. It's your subconscious answer to all the references, which someone can't know are a reference to a spoiler without being a reader, that are posted in this thread.
I spent way too long trying to think of one to put in this post so I give up. I looked back through the thread for ideas and was lost.
