For what its worth, I don't think they showed the battle in the book either, so I think they may just be trying to stay faithful to the book. Either way, its not too big of a deal as it probably just means they used more of their budget for other scenes in the rest of the season. mod edit

Loras new haircut+ the shave.. damn.... Lol I am not really rating the guys. I just noticed Loras looked somewhat less girly this time. Cersei and Margaery are both hot in their own way, no really comparable. Only one I cant stand is Dany. :D I can't stand Daeneris either. I wish people like Tyrion and Bronn were around her to laugh about all his "I'M AM THE DRAGON! do what i order! i'm going to be queen! i have the right to this and that" bullshit like they did with Lisa Arryn lol
One of the best things about the TV show is that i only have to watch short scenes that contain her instead of reading entire chapters.

If I would be any of the major houses from Westeros I would start negoating with Daenarys any alliances incase of another Targaryan conquest campaign.Secretly of course. Why? Dragons have been dead for ages so that's probably a rumor and god knows I can't imagine too many major houses care for the goings on over yonder. All three armies over in Westeros are still enough to destroy a small 8000 man force, however good they are. Plus this is their home. They'll have advantages in the terrain and logistics routes. Dany really isn't a concern. Well dragons do grow fast and most certainly most house have spies all over the Free cities. Still it would be pretty good idea to forge alliances early on. I don't think Aegon the Conqueror had that many troops when conquest started. But who knows what happens.
yeah Id rather be on the side of the battlefield that has dragons instead of being on the side that doesnt have them lol. I think they are the kind of argument that can solidify your position when you discuss politics. :D

I dunno man, if you ignore personality entirely, Cersei is pretty damn beautiful. If personality is taken into account, then yeah, Margaery every time.

I never red the books, so maybe it will come up later, but since the first episode one thing has bothered me.
How is this giant wall supposed to work? It just cuts off land mass with sea to either side, so one can still sail around it. And to make matters worse, it is a pretty cold place (apparently getting colder even), I would assume that the sea will freeze over (if it isn't already). So what is keeping the people north from the wall from walking around it?

Also if you recall, the show has mentioned some other Night's Watch forts like Castle Black (for example when the new members were assigned their roles in season 1), such as Eastwatch. Its the job of the rangers in those outposts to watch for threats from the surrounding areas, including from the sea.
As Maester Aemon mentioned though, not all the forts along the wall are manned due to low resources/manpower.

You're correct that oceans in general don't freeze. But they are going into something that should be compared to an ice age, rather than a winter, in earth terms. There should be ice along the shores, if it really is as cold as they're portraying it to be.

Less masturbation and trying to rationnalize a magical world: as said in season 2, man, long ago, were scared of something that lived way up north. They built a wall to protect themselves from it and so far it seems to have worked. We can assume the threat comes from the land only. Sure a big bad winter is coming but I think this wall has seen others since it's been there for quite a while. No reason to freak out about aqua zombies and ice-skating zombies.

Anyone else notice the pure badass-ness of Daenerys's new set of body guards? She's building a knights guard of her own!

I can't wait till we get to see Selmy and Mormont fighting side by side (haven't read the books, just speculating)

It's hard to say at this point if Margaery is genuinely benevolent or only faking it. She might be for real. She's ambitious and wants to be the queen, but we haven't seen anything evil out of her. A woman who is both kind and strong seems incompatible with Joffrey, which is probably why Cersei antagonizes her. Sansa was much easier to control.
she appeared to be kissing the ass of joffrey and cersei in the table scene.. the way she talks, it sounds so 'corporatey' and fake

I think it's pretty apparent that the wall was build not to keep the wildlings out, but to keep the white walkers out...
