Time Warner’s HBO expects to top $1 billion in international revenue this year, up about 50% over the figure it recorded three years ago, the Wall Street Journal reported.
In a latest sign of international success, the premium pay network’s newest show, Game of Thrones, premieres on Sunday, but has already become HBO's best-selling series abroad ever, fetching more than $2.5 million an episode, more than 50% above the international price tag for The Sopranos, the paper said.

It will be a free HBO weekend for the premiere for most cable/dish providers in the US I have heard.

Most of their reasons are pretty hollow too, but even the best reviewed material is going to have a few people who hate it.
The comments on her review are awesome :D

I really want to watch this show, but I don't have HBO. Does anyone know somewhere that it can be watched online preferably legally.
|
Not legally, at least not until it hits itunes or netflix which usually is just before the next season starts for most HBO shows. If you have basic cable and you are in the US, most cable/dish providers are having a free HBO weekend for the premiere though. Hopefully if you decide to find an "alternate" way to watch, you buy the dvd when it comes out to support future seasons.

Maybe you can purchase the episodes from Amazon.com's VOD service or Itune's.

i always like the lord of the rings and other similar stories, saw sean bean was gonna be in this movie so i watched that 15 minuet trailer last week thought it looked sweet so i started reading the books, halfway done with the second book but Holy Shit this is the greatest book series i have read. It is so unexpected what happens and the depth it goes into is on a whole different level. Cant wait for the show to start

Really loving it so far; easily one of my new favorites. It's been quite some time since I've done this heavy of reading and enjoyed it this much! ^^
I can't wait to start watching the show. Picking up the book beforehand will give me so much more insight into characters motives and whatnot than may be shown. I'll definitely be picking up the next book as soon as I finish Game of Thrones, as I'm sure I'll immediately want to know what happens next. :p

For anyone interested in the Audio book versions, http://www.audible.com is running a promotion where you can get the first book for 1 credit.
I read the books just before Feast for Crows was released, 6+ years ago, and now I am listening to them for a 2nd time all on audio book on my commute to and from work everyday. The narrator Roy Dotrice does a great job giving the characters mostly unique voices and it is amazing how much I have forgotten or missed the first time thru. Almost thru my audiobook "re-read" of Storm of Swords now.

I've almost finished the first book. Is it true that although the TV series is going to be "Game of Thrones" it will contain spoilers from more than just the first book? This is what one of my co workers told me and I haven't read books 2, 3 and 4 yet so i don't want to watch the TV show until I'm all caught up.

The first season of Game of Thrones will cover only the first book. You will be fine.

For example + Show Spoiler +in a released clip where Robert and Ned are having a conversation on the road south from Winterfell, it is revealed that Jon Snow's mother is Wylla, which isn't known to the reader until A Storm of Swords.

Ordered the first two books, they should arrive somewhere tomorrow. I hope they're good, it's been a while since I've read fantasy novels.
