Very. Dunno why they made her look like that. Q_Q When reading it I imagined Zena,xP. Also why the name change? Asha sounds much much better.

Every female character on a tv show doesn't have to be drop dead gorgeous. I prefer her a little ugly otherwise I'd be watching just another show with unrealistically beautiful women doing unrealistic things. She's mentioned as a warrior and someone who commands in battle. Do you really want to watch charlie's angels?

Undoubtably however, she is quite perfect in the contrast she makes with other female characters in the show - she is not supposed to be another noble lady like Daenerys or Catelyn, she is a warrior.

Are you serious? I mean not only is SiguR right with saying that not every single female character has to look like a supermodel, but you're actually calling this actress not pretty? Even with the rather drab outfit and makeup to emphasize her "warrior princess" character, she's something to look at.

I think they changed it to avoid confusion with Osha, in Winterfell.

I like how Asha (Yara) looks, she's not supposed to look like Sansa or Cersei or Daenerys.

Indeed. She looks pretty good, in a rough way though, she's not 'fine', like Daenerys is supposed to be.
Theres also eng version out. Found it :p
The second episode was a lot more enjoyable for me, it wasn't just random scenes tacked together. I guess the first episode had to lay out the story, but they really should've made it a bit longer as one hour is so short to fit so much stuff in. This episode felt a lot more coherent.

It was a pleasure to see Carice von Houten in the new season. Same as Liam Cunningham. Overall the episode felt richer, very well paced and it seems that the budget has increased or the show is just that much more distinct from every other.
Not planning to read the second book. I really spoiled myself on everything last season and at the same time it was basically exactly the same as the book so I'll trust the GRRM and producers/script writers to do the good job.

It was a pleasure to see Carice von Houten in the new season. It's Carice van Houten, not von. That tiny spelling makes a huge difference as she is Dutch, not German.

Just went on a marathon and watched all of season 1 and the first episode of season 2. I must say it is one hell of a show! I would be bold enough to say it is the best show I have ever laid my eyes on.
In the second episode when the guy pulls the sword out of the burning fire, what is that all about? Who is the red headed lady? What is going on in this scene?

Are there any subs out yet for episode 2? I haven't been able to find any so far.

They are denying their old idols (Gods) for the one true God, supposedly. Think of it as the period when Europeans were denouncing Greek and Roman Gods for Christianity.
Those several burning wooden statues in the scene were effigies of their old Gods. I believe the red headed women is just the new priestess of this religion.

In the second episode when the guy pulls the sword out of the burning fire, what is that all about? Who is the red headed lady? What is going on in this scene? Stannis is Robert's (the guy who was the king who just died) brother. Since he believes that Joffrey, Tommen and the girl are sons of Jaime and Cersie and not Robert he by rights should be the king as Robert actually had no trueborn son. Following the line of succession.
Basically at this point almost every big house of Westeros has their own king. Stannis is one of them. He also has a new religion, R'hlorr the god of fire, of whom Melissandre, the red lady is a priestess. Melissandre claims that Stannis is a prophet wielding the sword Lightbringer, the sword he pulls out of the fire.

Thank you for being civil and explaining my mistake. I checked her name and her surname (not sure if van is part of surname) before posting and still made a mistake. Disappoint. I'll remember it now for good. Didn't mean to offend, if I did by any chance.
