They went up some river after reaching the coast. I think she said that in her speech to the ironborn.
The Dreadfort is off the Weeping Water River, so that part would make sense even though it would be over a hundred mile trip JUST on that river. It doesn't change the fact that the mouth of that river is in the eastern ocean and the Iron Isles are in the western ocean, meaning sailing there would require going around south of Dorne, up past King's Landing, Dragon Stone, the Eyrie and further north than Winterfell for a trip that would be over ~4,000 miles in distance. It's not that it would be technically impossible, just entirely impractical considering it would be ~"only" a 600 miles (still a really long trip) by land from Moat Cailin which the Iron Born control and both ways would require going thru enemy land/waters. Disregarding practicality, it would be an exceptionally long trip, probably over a year to sail ~4,000 miles if they had no unexpected delays.

Bolton did order them to retake Moat Cailin, but the show has given us no reason so far to assume the castle Yara assaulted wasn't the Dreadfort. So they were probably still there. I mean in one of her speeches she specifically says she is going to sail on the Dreadfort.

He actually shows quite a few things.
He is obviously very confident and brave, going into the Lannisters stronghold and making it absolutely clear he wants them dead. Also, attacking a Lannister men in the whorehouse.
He is very charming.
He is very liberal.
He is very well educated.
He writes poems
He is very intelligent, judging by how and what he talks.
We know he's one of the best fighters there is (Cersey talks about it, also said and implied in a number of other different scenes)
That was just off the top of my head. I mean do you actually watch the show or just someone retells you the main points of the story?
I dont really think any of that has been shown, I agree with TLHP from the SHOW we actually know very little about him so far other than the fact he is second in line for Dorne, bisexual, and hates lannisters
He sits at the small council as if it is a chore and something he does not care about. Everyone stands up for tywin entering and he just stays in his slouched position to show his lack of respect. He sits as if disinterested int he conversation until someone says something of interest such as unsullied/dragons etc. Even when tywin tells Mace tyrell to go get the quill and pape, Obreyn looks at mace like he is tywins bitch.
At the trial he deliberately walks across the iron throne in front of tywin to get to his sign. Another sign of disrepect, you can also notice that tywin looks at him when this happens. Tywin knows he is doing it but yet does not do anything about it.
He insults Tywin and Cersei to their faces in conversation and does it in the lannister stronghold where he is essentially isolated from allies.
He asks Shae did he fuck Tyrion's like it was his last night in the middle of a trial where tyrion is very clearly upset by it. The man does clearly hates the lannisters and insults and disrepects them at every turn. Yet nothing is ever done to him because they cant do anything to him. Everyone respects his fighting prowness as noted and Tywin is afraid to touch a prince of Dorne.
He is a sexy bastard and looks like a baller. He could tell where varys was from even though varys has lost all his accent. He writes poems. The man hasn't take shit from anyone and seems to be getting the upper hand in all these little power plays people have in their conversations, something Ned Stark could never do. He knows about poison as we can see when the Grandmaester Pycelle is giving the list and Obreyn says "You have made your point, you have a lot of poison"
There are a few other subtle things too. Damn that accent.

To summarise, we've seen him walking around not giving any fucks, hating lanisters, and having an accent. The point isnt that what we've seen of him is bad, the point is he's not really been given much screen time, and we dont actually know much about him at all, other than the odd quip here and there and him being aloof in front of important people. People are getting super hyped for his fight, that may or may not be against the mountain, why? I haven't seen him fight, I hadn't heard about him being a great fighter before this season, and even now no one is putting him up with the greats.
The question being asked was, why, given what we have seen so far about this aloof person, are people getting super fucking hyped about him. The implication being, that book reads know he is bamf from events we have yet to see, and are thus more impressed by what we've seen so far.
He's got that WWE swagger that the best personalities have. People just assume that because he exudes machismo that he can back it up in the ring. I personally love his charisma and how he carries himself, definitely a bamf.
Those last summarizations from Dunmer and Sejanus left me to wonder if he'll die some dumb death though. =/ I mean every "good" guy that does naive stuff (Ned, Robb) lost his plot armor and spitting in the face of your enemies like Oberyn does with the Lannisters is on par of Ned telling Cercei that she should leave Kings Landing. Also nobody likes digging for skeletons in the closet, perhaps it _was_ Tywins order to kill Oberyns sister, after all ?
That said, I dont get why there should be a duel of the mountain (for Tyrion? or for Cersei ?) vs Oberyn (just to be able to kill the mountain? pretty naive-dumb again, if Oberyn falls for such stuff, imho)
I mean, why shouldn't Tyrion choose Bronn again ? He's a sellsword, pretty good at fighting...especially vs huge, slow, bulking Knights.
Ahh my general point was that he doesnt care that the lannisters hold all the cards at this point and openly disrepects them. Whats not to like about that? His persona is just very macho and people see him as a baller.
Similiar to how tyrion gained popularity by acting like he didnt a crap despite facing death sentence. In the eyrie and giving quips during the whole season. Also his intelligence and no bullshit attitude.
Also I watched it twice, I just pay close attention to these things because I want to compare how the book version of things is portrayed on the show version. The show is very good at protraying the characters onto the screen they way they are done in the books.
Also Talaris a few pages ago there is a bunch of stuff talking about who tyrion could choose and the pros and cons etc

Bronn kind of has the attitude of if I'm not sure I can win I won't fight though, and if it is the Mountain then I would assume Bronn wouldn't be overly confident

Nobody wants to face The Mountain. He is like the undisputed champion of westeros.
IIRC wasn't it only jaime and the hound was the only one confident enough to go against the mountain ? can't remember
