lmao yes I love that line so much. That guy cracks me up.

If you are talking about the best fighters, what about Greyworm & Dario Naharis?
Greyworm was literally born to fight, he is the leader of the unsullied; A bunch of guys just trained to kill and obey no matter what. I belive that their training made them the most ruthless, relentless & dangerous fighters in the whole GoT universe. He would probably still fight even if hes missing an arm or (and) a leg. Although I am curious how they would feel in Westeros. Especially in the north. They´re not used to a chilly climate
As for Dario, we do not know much about him, he is probably something between Khal Drogo & Bronn, a rogue-like fighter with a bit more "tankiness". Seems pretty strong though...
If I had to choose from the given names , with respect to latest episode, I would probably say that either Mountain or Hound is (are) the strongest fighter(s). I don´t see anyone beating one of them.

Grandma Tyrell (who's in King's Landing being rich). 5. The obese daughter of Frey (see 2) now married to Lord Bolton, who was presented in the beginning of episode 2. 6. On April 20 2014 05:09 Spaylz wrote:+ Show Spoiler +I think the Hound beats the Mountain any day of the week. The Mountain is just pure brute strength, and has no real technique. Sandor is, on the other hand, a good swordsman, and an excellent fighter. You say his fight at the inn was sloppy, I say it was just his style. He took out like, what, 4 soldiers? I doubt that even Jaime in his prime could handle 4 soldiers at once, but apparently Sandor can. Also, I think Bronn is overrated, and that Brienne would die pretty quickly against the Mountain. She beat Loras because she was able to overpower him, smashing into him like a total brute. Let her try and do that against the Mountain, haha. Also, she beat Jaime because he was totally worn out, out of training and had been underfed and tied down for like a year. She's a good fighter no doubt, but the Mountain is just a freak of a man who can handle a two-handed great-sword with just one hand. If Oberyn were in the poll, I'd vote for him hands down. He drew his knife SO quickly against the Lannister bannerman, it was pretty insane. Also, yeah, according to the trailer, he's quite the dancer. And I don't know, he just has this badass attitude of the cocky guy who can backup his words )) Show nested quote +On April 20 2014 05:08 Makro wrote:On April 20 2014 04:47 urboss wrote: I hope that Jaime Lannister will prove everyone wrong and become the best again in future episodes.
Also, I hope to see some Ser Barristan "carving the cake" action, the legends surrounding this guy are huge. The idea of him still beating them all despite his age is very alluring.
how you can be the best with one hand ? Qorin Halfhand was said to be a very skilled fighter, and while he wasn't one-handed, his other hand was pretty much useless as it was missing a ton of fingers. I mean, he stood up to Jon, and very likely held back so that he would kill him in a way that would let the wildlings believe it. It's likely his still whole hand is his dominant hand he's been fighting with forever though. That's entirely different from Jaime's situation.

I will explain it, Jon Snow can be harmed in Castle Black, he has enemies there, he could also be send on a suicidal mission, he could also die in battle against some windlings and he could also be killed by Ygritte. Even if Stannis comes it will most likely be too late. For Ygritte, she might be killed by windlings if she refuses some advances, she might die at Castle Black because of the night watch or Stannis's men.
In a stupid movie the most likely scenarios would be: Ygritte and Jon Snow survive together and escape > Ygritte and Jon Snow both die hand in hand > Ygritte kills Jon Snow or the reverse but these are unlikely to happen. Although I'm sure Martin will kill Ygritte at some point to make Jon Snow even more of a tough hero, I don't see Jon dying. Think about it: if he dies there is basically no protagonist in the north / on the wall anymore. That doesn't make sense. Mmmm I think you have it backwards. I don't think Jon is going to make it through this season... Boltons are heading up there to off him, and if Ygritte witnesses that then she becomes the main protagonist in the north with a revenge motive against house Bolton who also gives us a point of view into the wildlings. Plus there's still Brann in the north. She's already got a revenge motive on Jon at the moment, though. It's unlikely he'd perish as the only Stark-related at the wall (where important things are bound to happen soon).

Maybe it's just a case of Clarke's third law. Not everything unexplained has to be magic.

So now that Joffrey is also dead, is it safe to assume that Balon Greyjoy is next? He was the last one named by Milisandre named while burning the leeches.

He was the last one named by Milisandre named while burning the leeches. Anyone else think its funny that when quasi-good guy/good guy charactes have super magical powers to insta kill their enemies they always kill people whose deaths dont benefit them nearly as much as the real bad guys. ie: stannis could have asked to kill the tyrells and tywin and then beat the two children Renly and Joffrey at his time. Arya could have killed Tywin.
|
I believe the curse only applies to "false kings". While Tywin effectively owns the throne and Joffrey was just a puppet, he never really cared about sitting on it himself. The same applies to the Tyrells who were competing with Tywin for control over Joffrey. And while Robb and Balon never cared for the Iron Throne, they were called themselves king of their respective regions.
Taking out Renly first was definitely the right move though. He was steadily gaining strength and was probably the most threatening of the five kings. At the time, Tywin was preoccupied with Robb, and the Greyjoys were still watching from the sidelines.

I think Jaime might become one of the best with Bronn as his teacher. I love the way they started out and Bronn basically gave the guy no breaks. Jaime has a long way to go, but adapting Bronn's style as his own will definitely help him go a long way if he salvages what's left of his formal sword training.

As for Brienne, the fights Brienne has won are: 1) tackling Loras after he had her disarmed and thought the fight was over (which could have been against the rules, who knows - most duels are halted when someone's disarmed), 2) beating up a guy who's been in prison unable to move for months if not longer, malnourished and atrophied, with his hands chained together. She fights to win and she can't be terrible if she got to the final round vs Loras, but I'm not convinced of much yet.
You have forgotten the scene where Jaime and Brienne are trying to find their way to King's Landing together. They come across a few bodies hanging from the trees on the path and then 3 rogues come out of the bushes to meet them. When she draws her sword, she just ruthlessly slaughters all 3 of them in a matter of seconds. I know they are not the best swordsmen obviously, but that scene totally sold me on Brienne's brutality and ruthlessness.
There were also a couple clips in there that showed Jaime being taken aback by her power and ferocity, and generally how good of a fighter she was. I am not fixed on her ability to fight and kill all 3 rouges at the same time without getting injured as much as I am to Jaime's reaction of her doing it. Since he obviously is considered one of the best, how he genuinely reacts to her fighting is very significant in my opinion.

i always though jorah? (is that how u spell it, anyway) i thought he was one of the pretty top fighters, u know that scene where greyworm, jorah and er...whats his name. basically took on a whole city of guards, thats pretty damn good.
Im not sure how great the mountain is tho...he just seems big and strong, wouldnt someone with very good sword fighting technique just run circles around him. oh also he lost that lance battle to the fariy/flower knight, and he lost to brinene (giant lady) and shes not better than those 10-20 guards who caught her and jamie. I guess lance battle is definitely not like a sword fight in battle, but still...i thought it showed that if ur skilled enough, a gap in strength could be overcome.
oooh i just remember, who was that guy who went to take a piss at the red wedding, i dont think they've showed anything with him...

Something's strange about Beric Dondarrion: It seems that his eye didn't get restored during resurrection. If his organs do not get restored, how can he become resurrected in the first place? If someone stabs him in the liver, he will get resurrected and then he will die again because his liver isn't working.
That would also suggest that he cannot fight in kamikaze style, because he could still get maimed permanently.

I assume that the concept of his resurrection is just something that can't be legitimately possible when considering things like that. I am just guessing that the eye thing isn't significant and rather just an idea that is aesthetically linked to the series in order to better illustrate his character.
If I understand Thoros correctly, he isn't even sure why the Lord of Light keeps resurrecting him, but he says the words regardless, and he's on his 7th life now I believe. So they both probably don't even understand how or why he keeps bringing him back yet. Perhaps similar to how Bran doesn't fully understand his worging and foresight powers yet, but he keeps learning in little bits and pieces.

My idea is that he lost the eye before finding his god In the Lord of Light. So the Lord just keeps resurrecting him to how he was before he gets officially killed. Basically just reverses time like 20min or whatever to what his previous state was.

I'd like to agree with everyone who said khal drogo
the entire position was based on being the most badass fighter among a culture of fighters

Dondarrion's eye wound comes from a dagger through his eye which made him die and be resurrected.
Khal Drogo may have been among the best. However, what got him killed was quite reckless showmanship not worthy of the best.

Khal Drogo may have been among the best. However, what got him killed was quite reckless showmanship not worthy of the best. nope, he wouldnt have died because of that small cut, Danny's priestess killed him (the one who she saved) with infecting the wound. Way to go Danny.
Then again, it's hard to tell who is the best fighter, the great swordsman of westeros dont really fought against the styles and weapons of Essos, and vice versa. If anything, u can speculate on a list of Westeros knights/warriors, on which obviously Barristan, Jamie's right hand, Loras, Brienne, Ned Stark, the Mountain, the Hound should be included, based on what we ve seen, but impossible to set a 100% objective order.
