(You might not want to read this spoiler before you have seen s01.) + Show Spoiler + The murderer isnt just some random guy though. He is as main character in the first season. I think that made season 1 a lot better than if they had just worked on some random cases with no connection. The play between Dexter and the murderer was what made season 1.
yea i gave this some thought and i take that back. you're right the single murderer as opposed to a host of different murderers is much better and the powerplay between dex and him was really good.
hm i didnt catch the comedy with the dex doakes thing. i just found them similar to filler stuff =/

I watched the first two episodes, the way they portrayed his character was top notch. He is a cold blooded serial killer but oh wait he does it to protect people
omg I think I'm gonna download the full season =)
Carnac could you check ur pms?

DON'T READ THE SPOILER IF YOU HAVENT WATCHED EVERYTHING UNTIL THE LATEST EPISODE
+ Show Spoiler +Ok, so Doakes discovered the blood samples - the question is what he will do with it. Just because he found them doesnt necesarrily mean he will come to the conclusion that Dexter is a serial killer and those are samples of his victims. He may try to get them checked for their DNA signature and cross check those with police files? Maybe even through Maria? My guess is that Dexter will either: a) somehow end up pinning the murders on Doakes b) have Doakes end up on his table and kill him c) both
On a German forum I saw someone speculate about how Lundy may have known Harry and maybe even knows Dexter's story..., personally I think this is unlikely - Lundy must like 10-15 years younger than Harry would be if he was still alive?

+ Show Spoiler +I don't think Dexter would frame or kill Doakes without Doakes doing something more extreme than he's already done. Dexter said he's waiting for an excuse to take Doakes out and maybe he'll get one. But if Dexter's only good reason for taking out Doakes is to prevent his own capture, then I don't think he'll do it. Then again, Dexter's character and principles are in limbo right now, so anything is possible.
Earlier in this season, I was predicting to my girlfriend that Lila is going to turn out to be a really evil or messed up person and it'll give Dexter a reason to put her on a table. I had a great "I told you so!" moment at the end of the last episode. I think she'll keep pushing her luck but it's hard to say.
Maybe Dexter will have a major lapse from Harry's code and kill both Doakes and Lila. I'd be like "no Dexter, don't do it!" but it'd be really fun to watch anyway :o Go Dexter!
Oh and I'm thinking something is going to prevent Doakes from actually getting DNA tests done on those blood samples. I just don't see how Dexter could slip out of that.

+ Show Spoiler +Oh and yeah Lila is obviously messed up. She may possibly have killed plenty of people with her addiction (pyromania!) - which would give Dexter a good excuse to get rid of her if he finds out and he is already suspicious about the fire in Lila's appartment.

Would be nice if a [spoiler] tag could be added to this threads title so we dont have to put spoilertags on every single post discussing the current episodes. Which I think most future posts in this thread will be about. Im atleast going to post here again right after I see the next episode :p

+ Show Spoiler +I think so too... I think it's very likely that Dexter will discover before Doakes that they have figured out that the killer is one of them (most likely learn it from his sister even though they are suposed to be quiet about it, she will probably end up telling Dexter cause she would never suspect him) and he will notice his bloodsamples are gone and will immediatly think it's Doakes so he'll figure something out to blame it on him....

ive been watching this show since half way through the first season its fantastic+ Show Spoiler +the scene with lundy/dex in the interrogation kind of thing was funny. Lila was one sick bitch. "I'll always be one step ahead of you for one simple reason. I own you." was kind of stupid, but an effective way to get him out of the precinct. i think he's going to either pin Doakes, since he is the one with the blood. either way, if they were to try to convict him, doakes just ruined their only piece of evidence??? and Doakes is definitely going to get the samples DNA tested, he won't have to cross reference anything. Its not going to take that to notice the blood samples come from the 18 corpses they found in a bay.

My relative picked the music for the intro, but I don't think he has had any continual participation with the music selection. Still, the intro music kinda set the stage for how the soundtrack would be crafted :o Aaaaaand I won't say anything more about it, I am just really excited to have a relative who worked on and won an emmy for a show I love ;o

I've only watched episode 1-3 and even though he does what he does his personality is extremely likable for some reason. (I got the whole first season now so I'll watch that to catch up some )

I found out about this show through another forum, I love it, probably my favourite on tv right now.
About the books, apparently the 1st is good, the 2nd is good for the most part and the 3rd sucks huge balls. In the 3rd book there is apparently the introduction of a bunch of supernatural shit explaining Dexter's dark passenger, so I hope to hell they don't pull that shit in the tv show. From the other forum here's a short summary of the 3rd book + Show Spoiler + Two college students are murdered in a ritualistic fashion. Dexter and Debra are on the case, but something spooks Dexter's Dark Passenger and leaves him out in the cold. See, instead of Dexter being smart or able to put two-and-two together as we've been previously led to believe, Dexter's Dark Passenger apparently does everything. So Dexter just sort of mopes around, helplessly for the entire book.
Anyways, there's also a "watcher", someone who is supposed to be a parallel to Dexter, but also more powerful. Also, paralleling Dexter are Rita's kids (who he is marrying in the book); seems Cody is a budding serial killer and Astor is his helper. In addition Cody is like the Sixth Sense Kid now, able to sense "shadows" of other killers. Very stupid. So he takes them along to some of the crime scenes and tries to act like Harry (under the guise of scaring them straight after they kill a cat).
The killings continue and Dexter keeps hearing "chanting" music at night. It makes him sleepwalk and other crazy things; none of which is explained. The watcher follows Dexter around, kills Manny the caterer and his lover, kills some other suspects and tries to break into Rita's house while Dexter is there.
Long story short: a hurricane appears out of nowhere in the last chapter and the kids are abducted. Dexter rushes to Debra with Rita, hears the music again, which apparently turns him into an idiot, so he walks outside the police station and is abducted (and doesn't remember anything but the music). He finds himself trapped in a room, overpowers the guard and meets up with the man behind the murders.
Apparently this is all the work of a Cult of Bhaal and the kids are to be sacrificed. Oh, but the good part is that Bhaal apparently moves through their bodies so instead of this guy also being the "watcher", the "watcher" is just anyone of the minions who has Bhaal within them (and the way the Watcher's parts are written, it's implied that Lindsay meant this literally). I should have mentioned that Dexter has a knife and gun at this point, but his stupidity is so overwhelming he doesn't use them on this guy. The music starts playing and he is led to where Cody and Astor are going to be sacrificed.
A scuffle ensues after the power of love finally stops the music from controlling Dexter, Cody kills the guy and says "I told you I was ready," Dexter and Rita marry and Cody tells Dexter his shadow is back.
There are three narratives in the book: Dexter, IT and the Watcher. IT is the dark passenger and IT talks about how it's been in the world since we first crawled out of the ocean, moving from one species to another and adding a supernatural quality to something that didn't need it. The watcher starts out prominent, but trails off halfway through like Lindsay had no idea what he intended to do with it. Of course that's not surprising, because the story itself is a jumbled mess.
So the book not only had a terrible story, but it added some ridiculous supernatural qualities and screwed up a lot of the characters (besides Dexter, Astor and Cody were terribly written).
I would be very pissed if they brought this into the show.

+ Show Spoiler +Now that we've seen that Doakes has discovered Dexter's blood fillings. And Angel, deb and the big boss (forgot his name ) has clarified the it really is someone from there team who did it. And he went total spass on that Lyla bitch (I hate her so much!) in the end. I just cant wait to see how Dexter is gonna twist himself out of all this. Its gonna be awesome from now on, I cant wait!

I could put aside some of the forensic procedure blunders but every now and then I was completely pulled out of the story when I saw how clumsy and incorrectly he puts on latex gloves. Anyway thanks for suggestion - I just watched season one and enjoyed it.

I started the first episode of season one sometime Friday, and proceeded to watch up to episode 8 of season 2, finishing it Sunday morning. I then had to check to see when the next new episode aired, and was very pleased to see that it aired tonight.
I just finished episode 9, and regret watching it so soon. It was just amazing, and I cry at having to wait a week to see what happens next.

lol yeah i didn't want episode 9 to end.. its going to be unbearable to wait until next sunday...
it was a great episode but there's one thing I don't understand..
+ Show Spoiler + Why did Doakes kill his cellphone ? He could've used it when he saw Dexter and take pictures or a video and send it to Laguerta
