This, I feel, is the best explanation for the sudden and clumsy deaths of Lewis and TokenBlackDetective, aswell as Quinn's "Why won't you marry me boohoohoho- Wild Season 7 Appears - ... Debra who?" thing.
Clearly the genius season 6 writer, in all his glory and storytelling genius, was sinbinned for whatever reason (Reason: Season 6 sucked balls) and as punishment for the suckiness of that season, the current writers are making it absolutely clear that TBD and Lewis will never exchange bodily fluids in an arousing manner, Quinn doesn't murder Deb and everyone she's ever fucked, and Dexter and Lewis' Girlfriend never finally get to play house - for real.
Why else would they so meticulously prepare us for a steamy Dex/Deb wincest relationship, even to the point where they moved in together, only to snatch it away quite conclusively with this recent turn of events? Not only are they scrapping the interracial, pansexual panoplie of depraved brilliance that is the aforementioned love pentagon, but they're also destroying the one thing that was making me look forward to tv this autumn: seeing Dex pound Deb and vice versa (strapons etc., I mean you just know Deb's into that shit).
You disappoint again, Dexter. Fingers crossed HispanicChiefDetectiveWithDumbHatAndAwfulActing + Misuka can still work out. Now this guy has it all figured out
A part of me wishes this guy wrote the storyline for Dexter...

Kinda sad how they got rid of the nerd guy. But after seeing his "response" to Dexter's attacks, it was kinda obvious he was no match for him. So probably best to just get him out the way with!

this season is awful. absolutely awful
didnt think it could have been worse than s6 but they proved me wrong.

It seems strange that he would just escape and not try to finish Dex and Deb...
"Khaldor-guy " LOOOL
also they should do something with this girl.. and dexter + Show Spoiler + tho it would suck for her unintentionally dating 2 serial killer

Unless like some people are predicting she was actually more involved in the killings than she led everyone to believe back in the day when she was still a minor.

Did Dexter saw Lumene in her or wtf happened there?
|
After nerding out on seasons 1-6 i watched the first three episodes of season 7, and i dont know what to say but what direction is this going. until now everyone who knew about dexter beeing a serial killer, died IIRC. so i guess debra has to die too. and laguerta pretty much knows that dexter is a killer. so she probably dies too. the only question i have is. what ridicoulous lies and shit will dexter make up this time to cover all his stuff.
man until season 5 it was cool now its just ridicoulous.

I would like to see a talk between Dexter and Hannibal.
|
like the majority here, im a bit surprised that the lewis storyline ended that quickly. i expected trojans on dexter computer or lewsi hacking him to find out more.
and i also hope that dexter will meet this blond chick again.

Pretty sure his thing for blondes goes back further than Lumen. Like serious mommy issues or something.

Well come on, it's pretty much obvious that she's gonna be his new love interest, just from those 30 seconds of the last episode.

I don't think the series have the potencial for another Ice Truck Killer/Trinity but all the new plot with Debra knowing about Dexter's secret can make a pretty solid story.
And it has been way better than season 6 at the moment in my opinion -_-

i wouldnt mind having lumen back she was awesome xD

I still dont' get all the hate for season 6, I thought it was great, definitely better than Jimmy Smits season. This season is just doing what it's doing, setting up for the rest of the season, notably, Ukrainian mafia, Deb + Dex, Laguerta + BHB returns, blonde serial killer g/f chick. It's all going to tie together and I'm assuming will make sense. I was so happy when they killed Lewis. While shocking, I was glad because he was frankly annoying to dexter, not able to actually do anything to him, but just a nuisance, and that just made it weird to be expecting dexter ready to do his thang, get excited about it, and then have a flat tire cuz HURRRR NERD BOY DEFLATED IT. that's not exciting, that's just ugh. good riddance.

Well, the Ukranian mafia is the season's "bad guy", like trinity, Dexter's brother and DDK Deb + Dex is the season's personal drama like Lumen + Dexter Laguerta + BHB is the annoying thing that drags over and nothing really happens. And the Blonde serial killer gf is the "reassurance" that Dexter needs in every season. He sees her as the person who recovered from being a serial killer, so wants to learn from her, like he tried with Trinity. So it's just like any other season did.

Season long build up for Lewis. Pay off? A headshot by what is easily the most non-descript bad guy in any season.
People may seem to hate the 3rd season, but at least Jimmy Smit had a personality. This Ukranian, or is it Russian, bad guy is just terrible, as is the whole Dexter V Organized crime.
This season is already collapsing in on itself, not to mention the speed with which Deb has accepted Dexter's serial-killing.
In-universe, she went from "AMG murder is wrong!" to "I get it" in under a week.
"Things are never going to be the same!" - Thanks Deb. Thanks for informing us that discovering that a brother/sister is a serial killer, changes the family dynamic.
I'll keep watching, I sank this much time into it, so might as well see how it all ends. This sixth season was a mistake. There should not have been a 7th, the show has been running out of steam since Trinity.

Loving this season thus far; season 6 rivaled season 1 as my favorite and this is shaping up to equal them. I did find Deb's reactions a bit wonky at times during episode 2 but episode 3 gave me a lot more hope and seemed to have much more realistic interactions between the siblings. However, I feel as if many viewers I've seen complain about her response don't take into account the facts that 1) she just thinks he is a serial killer who kills "bad guys", and 2) she is love (romantically) with him. She only has a fraction of the full picture thus far and her emotions are clouding her approach towards the situation. I won't say the awkwardness and at times silliness of her response (primarily in episode 2) are what I expected but in context, I understand them and feel they work.
Dexter's love (or his understanding of love) for Deb, her romantic love for him, and all of the secrets he has yet to reveal to her (such as Dexter himself being a huge part of why Rita died, Dexter nearly killing Deb with Brian, Harry's infidelity to Deb's mom among other secrets, and so many more) bode well for this season's future IMO. Deb's inevitable conflict to either protect Dexter from others (LaGuerta) or forgo her feelings will be interesting as well. I'm primarily more interested in how they interact based on all of the other information she has yet to find out, though.
Season 5 was my least favorite and I considered not continuing the series but I'm glad I did and just marathoned all of 6 and 7 thus far. Definitely glad to see Dexter's character continue to become more complex in season 6. I realize his social awkwardness derives from his "affliction", but it was getting stale and one-dimensional. The continual progressive slip away from Harry's code, the massive increase in manipulation of Deb, and his conflicting feeling's towards his son and his future have created a more rounded character that I can believe, all done without abandoning the elements of the original character. When comparing him from season 1 to now, I can buy who he is based on the events that have transpired in his life during that time. Most dramas that run this long generally focus on either amplifying existing character traits or by jumping the shark rather than introducing natural (as natural as can be with a serial killer) progression.
I realize many of you seem to disagree and I'm glad to see that. Although it certainly isn't in any program's best interest to garner negative reactions, it is nice to see a split of opinion, as it reflects, I feel, the differences in why we watch it. I'm primarily a comedy fan and generally steer clear of TV drama as they are usually lacking in everything but stereotypes, tropes, and cliches, but Dexter keeps me coming back for more. Definitely glad I gave it another shot.
Quick edit: concerning Louis—I'm not surprised they ended his storyline as they dead. He seemed to garner a lot of negative response from what I've read and I wouldn't be surprised if they gave him an anticlimactic death (ala the annoying couple from Lost, etc.) just to please fans. I certainly got tired of the corny 90's-style "elite hacker" tropes, but that's the fault of the writers, not the character himself.

I stopped at season 6 rivaled season 1, are you watching the same show I am?

I'm pretty certain token black guy was supposed to find the blood slide, but they palmed that off to Laguerta after the guy leaving the show.
Really interested to see where that storyline goes. I can't imagine any way that it can end swiftly.
Really disappointed with the anti-climactic Louis death, the way he got under Dexter's skin was incredible and I would have loved to see more of it. The blood on the boat will definitely come back to haunt Dex so his death should be worth something at least. If they go looking through bay harbour butcher evidence they will be checking the boats on the docks again.
I'm pretty certain Deb will come around on Dexter's killings and end up helping him/covering for him so they become a team of some sorts. Or possibly she says she was the bay harbour butcher and off's herself so dex doesn't have to take the fall. It would make sense with the "i can't live with what you do, but i cant send you to jail either" stance.
