i feel that the season is extremely empty. None of the actions seem to carry any repercussion and everything happens just in passing. I know before they dangled Dexter getting caught in front of us and i know it never was gonna happen but it was there. This time he's in the middle of everything, everything, and he doesnt even try to hide it and there is not even a shadow of a notion that this might seem suspicious or that he might leave some evidence behind. There is just not a bit of this season that matters. Do you even remember father whats his name anymore? And what about Olmos character? He lost his relevance in about what 5 seconds screentime.
Or Batista kidnapping. It was there and then it was gone. Batista didnt even bother to mention his ID got stolen.

I've always found showtimes' shows' writing to be hollow like this when compared to HBO's incredible series. Even the early seasons of Dexter had issues like this, though not as frequent. But they were there.

I really hated how anticlimactic the wormwood thing went. They could've done the same thing with better pacing/music/emotion/etc and it would have been so much more powerful.
It feels like they pushed it aside in 2 minutes. The rest of the episode doesn't even matter after that for me.
*edit : finished the episode.
Yeah lab guy is obviously going to start being a killer.
Dexter is acting like a complete fucking idiot which is on par for him this season. "Oh I'm feeling very woozy and can barely see/stand, better try to do it now!". In the past, he gave up on attacks for much simpler reasons than him being half dead. At least wait 2-3 minutes.
The painting, the fact that Travis is after him and the phone message... I will be sad if no one finds out about Dexter. No joke.

psychologist is trying to lure Deb into believing that she's sexually attracted to Dex.
That way, Deb will be so batshit pissed with her (and also trying to convince herself that she isn't attracted to Dex that way) that she unleashes her lust upon the psychologist instead. Psychologist gets what she wants, viewers get what they want (psychologist + Deb scissoring).

I will be at home for the season finale, and we sadly don't have Showtime.
Anyone know where I can watch it online? I'm so fricking desperate. =\

Great episode, I can't wait for the finale Lots of loose ends to wrap up, we can only assume that the intern is a killer, investigator, or the off-chance the ITK's son. Since they confirmed the plot to the next two seasons would be revealed in the last two episodes(Did they not in a podcast?) Then its safe to say we can expect Dexter vs This guy scenario. Perhaps one Season where he tries to change/join Dexter, realizes he cannot and tries to frame him with the final season culminating in killing him, then again the antagonist has never survived a Season.
I'm not looking forward to LaGuerta vs Morgan antics, was quite obvious what was going to happen with that storyline. Would be nice if Morgan found some dirt on LaGuerta and threatened her.
The Dexter and Morgan thing doesn't seem to immediately be going anywhere..... unless eventually Morgan and the Shrink connect the fact that she is only attracted to evil people, and Morgan starts becoming suspicious of Dexter.

at the end where travis tells dexter to inject himself, i feel like dexter planned for that ahead so the injection isn't anything harmful and hes pretending to be passed out. Then BAM, gets travis, kinda anti climatic

they're pussying out on everything this season.. angel babtista gets out alive no problem, the wormwood thing kills no one except the bad woman, with a complete fluke too
they should learn from 24, where half of fuckin CTU gets nerve gassed and alot of important people die
it'll be alot more interesting if the bad people win for a change :|

Real incest would have been more intrigueing, but you can't always get what you want...

I want LaGuerta to be either gang-banged by criminals or publicly humiliated.

I don't know if it's a by-product of me being a man-bastard, but I find all the female characters on Dexter really fucking irritating. LaGuerta seems to exist EXCLUSIVELY for sidelines involving police politics and Debra is just this bubbling volcano of rage and empty dead end side plots. A guy a few posts ago made a really good point about the briefness of most of the plots in Dexter e.g;
#1: Hooker dead #2: ??? #3: Profit! (Matthews gets the axe)
And this ^ was over the course of a few episodes, but in total about 3-5 minutes were probably spent on it.
The show just doesn't seem to put in much effort to non-Dexter sideplots and since they don't, I'm having a hard time giving a shit about any other character on the show. I'd contrast this with Breaking Bad, which actually puts a lot of effort into developing characters that aren't Walt, and fleshing them out and making them important.
Also a lot of people have made this point, but what the fuck is with Dexter going around swinging his dick in everyone's face about him being a serial killer? Debra is slowly connecting the dots in therapy and if she does how are they gonna iron that plot out? Probably in eight seconds with a heated confrontation between Dexter and Deb, with the last we see of her is in a black trash bag sinking slowly into the ocean.
I'm still liking the season more than five I suppose... but It's a far cry from the royal treatment we had in seasons four and two. I just hope it ends strongly like season four did.

Batista didnt even bother to mention his ID got stolen. yeah I know, extremely sloppy writing. it seems like every twist in the plot now, the writers are just handing on a golden platter. batista in a fire? no prob, put it out with blanket, walk away unscathed. villain set fire to our favourite hero? speed away from scene, only to not expect hero survive.
they had a REALLY glorious opportunity last season where they could've explored how deb would've struggled to come to grips with his brother being a serial killer - instead they choose to make deb give up peeking behind the plastic sheet, and instead write up this contrived "deep down, subliminally, I really love my non biological brother" angle.
this season is almost on the level of bad as the miguel season (i would've said last season sucked too but john lithgow really brought the acting up several notches), and ironically if the finale plays out the way i think it would, then i would've lost the last morsel of faith i had in this show + Show Spoiler [thoughts on finale] +dexter goes to kill travis, masuka's intern lends an unexpected helping hand, both realize who each other were - dexter got the ICK hand etc etc, dexter mentors intern for s7. sounds a little miguel-y to me, i know... but WHY else write that stupid sideplot of intern being a killer (or at the very least fascinated with serial killers)? it seemed a little random for me tbh to introduce that midway into the season.
there needs to be something big happening, whatever it's going to be, for next season, to turn this show around imo.

I agree with many of the other points, but that one is really off. People need to drop that, Deb finding out is simply impossible. Her coming to terms with it would be worse writing than anything mentioned before.

Highly doubtful that Dexter wants to have anything to do with the intern guy. He simply offers nothing to him (he is already annoyed as hell by him) and he is already through this kind of stuff.

I'm of that opinion as well.
