But episode 7 is a pretty weak filler episode. Only thing interesting was Avasarala going to talk to Holden's mother, which fleshed out both his and her character a bit. The whole Martian black ops thing was incredibly dumb and took up FAR too much time. | ||

But yeah, Jared Harris is pretty awesome (Miller not so much, but I don't really like book Miller either, so /shrug). I also like all the Rocinante crew except Holden; he hasn't convinced me yet. | ||

What do you think about Cas Anvar (Alex)? There's this weird thing happening with him, for me, where I feel like the actor is actually way more alpha than the character, and every once in a while that comes through and breaks the character for me. Do you know what I mean? Like the character is this almost-not-quite-goof and coward (as far as I can tell, not having read the books), but the actor is actually too masculine for me to actually buy that 100% of the time. He has too much presence. Agree jury's still out on Holden. | ||

 It actually cleared up a neat loose end of the books quite nicely.+ Show Spoiler + I don't think the books ever adequately explain why the gunmen were there. The henchmen sorta imply they followed the crew to the hotel, but if it was them, then 1) how did they lay a trap, and 2) how did they know to follow Holden? What I figured at the time was that the henchmen were acting as police and sent to investigate the shootout, then found Julie's body and recognized it for the protomolecule they were supposed to be receiving that went missing. I figured later in the book they'd explain the shootout, but that never happened. Regarding Alex: I dunno. Maybe because I read the books now, and book-Alex is a bit different. Anyway, the flashbacks at the start of the episode kinda combined to remind me what is wrong with Holden: the tension within the crew seems forced, and this is particularly obvious with Holden, who at times seems like he's ready to shoot Amos, and at other times is ready to trust him with his life, depending on what the plot demands at that moment. It doesn't work too well, and it makes Holden just seem weird. | ||

Was kind of expecting Amos to say smth back at him in that regard. That aside, awesome episode this week, felt like the pace went up a notch, and a lot of things i wanted to know more about got revealed. | ||
