They can't stay out in space forever and all the other stations are owned either by Earth or Mars. That is the only place they can dock and be assured they won't be caught by whoever destroyed the Donnager. They also know who he is and that he isn't aligned with either faction. | ||

At this point they think the ship just wants to disable the cants engines to board it. They didn't suspect it was to be nuked. The line was probably added for drama. | ||

Not a fan (book series), but for a syfy sci-fi impressed by the production level. Wish they advertised it better than saying "Game of thrones in space!". | ||

And what is their plan anyway? Clearly they are going to be wanted. Do they plan to go into hiding? Surrendering to the authorities seems like the best option to me. | ||

You just explained it: it's GoT in space. They seem so busy translating the story of the book to the screen that they aren't taking care to make sure that every episode tells a meaningful thematic story. It's just "here are things that happen, plot twist, here are more things that happen." Are you totally hooked on the plot? Great, you're gonna love every minute. Is the plot not enough? You're gonna find the show pretty empty, then. Episode 4 was definitely my favorite so far, we saw the gang aboard the Donnager start to turn on each other, meanwhile the UN secretary used and abused her friendship with the ambassador. Got some pretty legit drama out of that. But then episode 5 rolls around and Holden's like "I'm not evacuating this ship without my friends who I accused of being treasonous OPA assholes, who I don't know anything about, two hours ago." Wait, what? They're thick as thieves all of a sudden? I get that he's the Good Guy and all, but it felt really forced. On the plus side, the story is intriguing, the world is cool and original, some of the cinematography and sfx is shockingly good, and Thomas Jane is endlessly watchable as Miller (one of my biggest complaints is how little screentime he's had so far). The show seems to have some real atmosphere. Despite the above criticism, I'm definitely tuning in next week. But if you think this is the best SF series of all time, I'm guessing you haven't seen Battlestar Galactica. Go watch that. Like right now. edit: almost forgot, how good is Jared Harris as Anderson Dawes?! Holy shit! As someone who knows him primarily from Mad Men and guest stints on dreckier shows, I was blown away by the range he shows here. | ||
