Gotta re-watch that for sure + Show Spoiler + As I understand it, Marco gave a rogue Martian faction the protomolecule in return for ships and help, and they ran Earth's blockade and took control of the ring gate. Then the martians took a system for themselves and mined it off to prevent anyone else getting in, and Inaros took his own system. It may have been a bunch of systems they divided up between them, but I remember thinking it was one each for some reason. Mars want the protomolecule to finish whatever it was doing on Ilos. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

It was a little bit hard to tell because it all happened so fast. I thought the martian guy said something about their system and Inaros' system so i extrapolated but what you say makes more sense.

Ah okay. But that still has the cliffhanger from the last scene where the Marsian ship vanished with these strange effects from the super ghost race that Holden mentions. Plottwist: Mysterious super race shuts down the gates. Everyone has their own system. The end

The end + Show Spoiler + Is it possible the mysterious disappearance of the Martian ship was a consequence of the protomolecule experiment they were conducting, and next season we are going to see Inaros wiped out as protomolecule takes control of the ring gates? That's what I'm thinking anyway. No book spoilers though, only theories ![]()

Seems viewer numbers, despite beeing quite high, are not where Amazon would like them. But that's Sci-Fi I guess. Niche genre. For those that don't know the books: (slight spoiler but nothing too important) + Show Spoiler + Away from business, other factors might've played a part in The Expanse's Amazon cancellation. As per the source material, The Expanse season 7 would've comprised a 30-year time jump, posing a huge narrative hurdle for writers to overcome. In past interviews, The Expanse's producers revealed they were considering ways of handling this timeline leap, but ending with season 6 and avoiding the problem altogether arguably makes more sense. The main cast can't spend entire seasons in old-person makeup or being digitally aged through CGI, but the time jump is vital to the overarching story, and can't be ignored completely without deviating wildly from the books. Wrapping things up with season 6 allows The Expanse to sidestep these potential pitfalls.

I thought it was as good as could be expected for a 6 episode season. + Show Spoiler + I thought Clarissa's arc was one of my favourites, but its a shame that Holden's was pretty much done by the end of season 4. Also I started to find Naomi more and more irritating as things went on. I didn't like Inaros as a main antagonist. He was too evil and it subtracted from the richer and deeper political themes in the show. The final episode was epic, but maybe a little too epic at the expense of the quieter character moments that i really like about the series as a whole. Clarissa saving the day again felt fucking great though, and every character got their moment by the end. This is definitely the best tv show I've seen in a long time. Its far more consistent that GoT. Probably 9/10 overall.

Dunno how I feel about it.To me the season felt rushed, but I mostly liked the conclusion. I'm mostly annoyed that with only 6 episodes, they spend a lot of time on stuff that to me only felt marginally relevant to the overall story, i.e. these laconia scenes. What was their purpose? To have an explanation how Marco got so powerful? That could have been done with a "oh btw when Marco stole the stealth tech from Mars, he also got some railguns". Maybe this resurrection story is such a key storyline in the books and the authors felt like cutting it entirely would be like, I dont know, cutting Daenerys out of GoT? Idk. If it is, it isnt clear to me from just the show at all. Speaking more generally, imo the presentation of the unverse itself was the main draw more than the characters. In this season (but sometimes others too), it seemed they primarily focus on concluding the storylines of the characters, which is legit but imo didnt play to main strengths of the series. Then there was this "hey let's give some side characters we havent seen since 10 episodes" a few moments of screentime in which they will deus-ex-machina the solution to some key issue that would otherwise entirely have changed the story. Felt like lazy writing. Also, did I miss something or did the roci and Marco really just run into each other by pure chance in episode 3 or so? And (I know that is the case in virtually any other show too) having drummer board those containers in multiple teams, but then put all leaders into a single team is just tactically so stupid I wanted to bash my head against the screen. Same when I saw Jon scale the wall with all wildling leaders tied to him with the same rope. This may sound as if I'm super angry with this season, but I'm not. I mean I'm judging it by the super high standards the first 3 seasons had set. I'm mostly unhappy that it didnt reach those but objectively speaking it was still very, very good.

Yeah, while good 6 episodes just weren’t enough. Imho the finale felt rushed and stuff just happened too damn fast. I also did not really understand how Inaros had a fleet big enough to fight off every other faction in the galaxy at once but didn’t have such a fleet at the beginning of the season… And how a single railgun station seems to mean game over for any fleet (if not for our heroes). In general the last 2 seasons could have done with less Naomi drama and more Belter (and other) politics. Their alliance felt so videofgamy to me, «hey, let’s ally and then fight the final boss together. Having the balls to sideline holden a bit more would imho have been a good move. This is imho pretty spot on: Speaking more generally, imo the presentation of the unverse itself was the main draw more than the characters. In this season (but sometimes others too), it seemed they primarily focus on concluding the storylines of the characters, which is legit but imo didnt play to main strengths of the series. The ending is still satisfying but Season 1-3 still are the high points of the series.

Such a pity this had to end... I understand it wouldn't be feasible to continue (maybe with completely new actors?) but still in this last season they hinted at so many cool new things that are brewing up and yet we won't get to see it ![]() For someone who hasn't read the books, on which book does the 6th season end? If I were to pick the books from there instead of the very beginning, would I be terribly confused? (don't really feel like starting from scratch and rehashing stuff)

(don't really feel like starting from scratch and rehashing stuff) Season 6 and book 6 Babylon's ashes end at the same point. You can start at book 7 Persepolis Rising, a bunch of details will be different and you ll miss some sidestory background, but it will probably not be too big a problem, especially since they skip a few years between the 2 books. I understand that it had to end somewhere, and season 6 is the most logical point to call it a show. It is still very sad that this fantastic show had to come to a premature end. They probably gave it all they could under pressure to end the show quick. Especially the last episode feels very rushed unfortunately. Just splitting the last episode in 2 and spending a LITTLE bit more time on the threat of the Free Navy in the final would have made it a proper ending.
