However the giant robots does not remind me of anything Japanese (other than Godzilla) simply because of one thing: the lack of proper intimidation and 'sleek' design - also the rocket punch is facepalm worthy, plz hollywood, go watch the King of Braves, GaoGaiGar. Let me explain it in a way that will express my facepalm, cuz its important to me. EVAs (short for, synthetic fighting humanoid evangelion, the topic of much mention of late), for example, has a freaky face. once the armour is removed it is simply a greyish blob with two eyes and flesh underneath. This giant robot here, simply looks like a bigger version of master chief, as usual (master chief, of course is based on a grunt robot from the Mobile Suit Gundam series). I can care less if it has flesh underneath, it is too american (which means its design is epic fail in a legit giant robot stand point) Now i do believe the reason why people think this is like EVA is simply because of the motion commands the 'pilots' or 'drivers' have to use. Hence everything i said about looks is pointless and people are just going to TL:DR this. BUT IT IS IMPORTANT TO ME. What is more important to me is that Evangelion was NOT the only show to have motion commands. As a matter of fact, EVANGELION PILOTS DO NOT CONTROL THE GIANT ROBOTS BY MOTION! EVA pilots control the giant flesh bots by thought and finger commands are shown to be done with joy sticks. Also, EVA explained in their show; with visual demonstration, that the giant flesh bots are relatively entirely needed, by dropping a nuke and still not being able to destroy a giant monster. Angels from Evangelion also look more pokemon than Godzilla. HENCE! This giant robot movie, for me, reminds me the hell of WARHAMMER 40K instead of EVA. now those who thinks this looks like EVA, explain yourselves. edit: Jets don't fly under giant monster wings to be swiped at. Fighter jets barely even shoot these days, they take orders from the mushroom plane nearby and fire missiles. Jet fighters are designed for support, not for direct confrontation. Wow you are so pedantic

EDIT: Okay, apparently people are mentioning Gundam and Godzilla too...so it's clearly a reference pool issue.

You have to slightly reword this: throw in pot and reheat and and then it's going to be awesome. On December 13 2012 11:53 Chairman Ray wrote: Wait, it's NOT directed by Michael Bay? he sets the bar on makeup and special effects imo, way beyond bay ever could. will be cool to see what he does with this. he's the director of some of my favorite movies. usually does great work with scenes and emotions.
