If you're not familiar, the chi-blocking thing is heavily inspired from the kung fu movies (well as with the whole series lol) where someone would whip out some surprise strikes and render his opponent immobile temporarily, due to his pressure points being hit. So it would make sense that by striking certain parts of the body, you can "disrupt/block" "chi", thus disabling them from bending for a bit. Just bending their neck back and touching their forehead shouldn't be enough to do any of that.
Perhaps it shouldn't be, but that doesn't mean it isn't. As I said, I won't discount the idea that Amon simply "perfected" chi blocking.
That being said, I agree with you. I think (and hope) it's more likely to involve energybending. I want to learn more about the universe's mythology.
Hope this episode makes it more clear that Amon is not tarrlok and not asami (she was with the team the whole episode in tunnels and on a flying bison)..
Well, Amon is a masked character, so you're bound to find someone who will believe it wasn't really Amon behind. And he was immune to bloodbeeding because Amlokk wasn't really bloodbending him.

Everyone is Asami. Tarrlok is everyone. Trust nobody.

Surprise, surprise Amon is actually the representative of the southern water tribe on the council. But cracked theories besides, what if Amon energy bending isn't actually removing the bending like the Avatar can do, but is more like locking the chakras like when Aang could no longer go into the avatar state.
It would be something of locking someones chakras by energy bending. Thus they can no longer bend since they can't let their energy flow which is the root of all bending.
Anyhow, great episode and I'm super pumped for next week show.

I would laugh so hard if the creators never unmask amon in the show and it just ends up a mystery just like zuko's mother LOL
it could be...we wont know until the season finale im guessing...
I don't think Amon is going to be an already established character in disguise.
Anyway what do you guys think is going to happen in the hour long finale? Will the "Republic City Equalists" finish or not? I think maybe the equalist stuff will stay but either amon or republic city will be left in season one.

Neither will he be just some guy who can energy bend if you ask me.
From the finale trailer, does it not say that Korra's power has greatly increased or something similiar?

Like...has it? When?
Well, she's begun to get fully in touch with her spiritual side in the previous episode, although it's still nowhere near Aang's spiritualness in the first series. That should improve her bending considerably, and aid her in airbending. I'm guessing we'll see to what extent next episode, assuming the finale is a 2-episode event.

Amon is Zuko's mom second son with another man. That makes perfect sense. That explains why they've never revealed her hereabouts. Brilliant.
sorry shoulda reveresed the order, made it kinda confusing. The first part wasnt related to the quoted text, the second part was my response to the quoted text lol but ya still would be a funny scenario xD

This tweet seems kinda suspicious o_o
Dante (Zuko's VA in TLA) says he's going to be playing a character "related" to Zuko. This of course could just mean they're associated with each other or literally they are blood related, which kinda supports your theory.

You guys do know that Zuko is alive during the current storyline...he just isnt fire lord anymore right?
Ya that is weird I guess, but still really vague lol...also i wasnt being very serious about this... I was being sarcastic xD

Yeah but he didn't say he was going to play Zuko again, he said he was going to be playing someone related to him (unless he was just trying to purposely hype it up by being vague and he really IS playing Zuko). Additionally, Amon already has a voice actor, so I'm probably wrong with this theory too T_T

When was this information given out?
I think next week is regular, then after that its a double. Only way to make it fit.
As for the new Team Avatar, I agree with the rest of you: Mako sucks. The guy is so one dimensional and boring. :/ Bolin is funny and has far more depth, even though he seems to have been pushed aside. Even Asami seems more developed. Mako sucks and is boring.
