Season 2 is by far the worst, season 1 wasn't that bad I liked it a lot other then the stupid love triangle stuff.
Season 3 is by far the best and season 4 is looking to be the same.

I agree that season 2 is the worst. It's a real shame too, it had monster potential. The whole Vaatu/Raava idea is pretty good, and we all loved The Beginnings.
Some things just didn't really work out, and it was poorly handled overall. Vaatu is a completely one dimensional villain, to the point that he's almost laughable. Unalaq starts out okay but suspicious, and grows more one dimensional himself as the story goes on. He's not as bad as Vaatu, as he seems to genuinely believe him becoming a Dark Avatar is for the better.
Oh and, of course, the Giant Korra vs. UnaVaatu fight was ridiculous. I really, really hated that. I feel like, after S3 and possibly S4, if they could re-do S2, they would do a much better job.
What's done is done though. I think S3 more than made up for it. Really hyped for S4.

But Unalaq's plan was fan-fiction tier retarded. Hurr durr I wanna be the dark avatar.

My personal grip with Unalaq was that he was seemingly a copy of Tarrlok. The begun with the looks, goes on with being a water bender and ends with his intentions, acting and the way he tries to get hold of Korra...

Sure the god of evil doesn't need any motivation to be evil. That still doesn't excuse the fact that the god of evil was the main villain in season 2 in the first place. We went from an interesting fanatical villain like an anti-gandhi to basically "an ancient evil has awoken!!!!"

Given the story they decided to go with (Spirit of Light versus Spirit of Darkness), it is difficult not to fall into absolute platitudes. It may sound cool and all, but ultimately it's rather dull as it's too black and white, quite literally here.
I feel that season 3 corrected that, what with Zaheer having more realistic motives considering the state of Ba Sing Se, and the horrible behaviour of President Raiko.
I think they could have made it more interesting and more "grey" through Unalaq, which I believe they tried to do. They just didn't execute it very well.
Nonetheless, we tend to forget that Avatar is a show for kids. It's quite outstanding for what it is, and goes way deeper than what you might expect from such a show. I've been rewatching TLA with a friend recently, and it's still as awesome as ever.

Season 2 was acceptable and no worse than the worse episodes of Avatar Prime. Avatar is hard show to write because the main character is basically unstoppable and then has a second form that makes them more unstoppable. Every season they make a new villain that has some special power that lets them manfight the avatar.
Last Air Bender: I can't control the avatar form and then Comet that is firebender steroids. Korra Season 1: Blood Bender who can take away bending Avatar nerfed because she doesn't have a spiritual side(aka, no avatar form) And Robots + Tazers Korra Season 2: Spirit of evil that is the opposite of the spirit of the avatar. Plus fuck spirits, they give no fucks about bending. Korra Season 3: First your knocked out, then your hand cuffed then Fuck you, your poisoned and this guy can fly. Korra Season 4: Your recovering and poison, life is hard and metal benders + robots
The writers need to make believable reasons why the Avatar can't just go god mode and rekt people. Some are better than others. I get why people don't like it, but writing around a godlike character is hard.

While true, the thing that really bothered me in season 2 was the giants fighting. To me that was retarded.
I actually didn't mind the whole how the avatar was created, that was interesting and really cool and makes sense that the avatar is part spirit.
So it didn't seem bad for vatuu, but once they went down the giants and fighting with weird beams of power was all I really disliked.
I also feel the civil war could have been cooler, but yeah. I don't hate it, but it's definitely not my favorite.

I liked S2 and I still rewatch some of the episodes occasionally. They had some nice stories to tell - Aang's children, Wan, the water tribes, etc. The ending was a bit stupid, but still acceptable. It was definitely the worst of the three, but it had its merits anyways.

I think we have to consider the bigger picture here and think about what they were trying to achieve in the whole show, not just in each season. With the ending of s3 its obvious, they were setting up to have Korra completely destroyed and feel like she failed and be completely alone, so they needed to kill the cycle somehow, while keeping Korra alive. At the same time they still needed a way to then defeat the villain without the avatar state somehow and i guess this is where it fell short. I'm really excited to see her journey in s4 now.

Don't think any of us were complaining about S3. I was fine with how S3 ended as it made sense, poison was affecting her abilities and trying to fight the poison and zaheer in the avatar state was pretty much impossible to do.
We were criticizing season 2. Season 4 though I am very excited to see her explore the world to regain herself.

Yes and im saying, they needed the ending of season 2, to set it up for the ending of s3 and the continuation into s4. Both the portal->new airbenders and the destruction of the avatar cycle are the reason s3 is what it is now.

I'm convinced they're going to pull some bs where Toph is turned to stone or some crap and I will riot

Judging by the emphasis they placed on Opal and the armies of metalbenders they show in the trailer, I'm guessing that the one of the major villains is going to be Suyin. I'm also expecting the metalbending nation to try and take over the leaderless Earth nation. I mean, after all, they're still in the anarchy state the Red Lotus left them in.

I don't believe that Suyin is going to be a villian. If I remember correctly she even sighed in the trailer at one point, looking really unhappy. It's more likely that someone rips her off the control of the metal nation.

I think that either she's going to be a villain, or at least an apparent villain who turns out to have been alright all along. She has way too much buildup and is way too strong a bender just to be a straight-shot character.

I will riot as well lol. I am hoping Toph does something really badass.

Toph will come back and be as amazing as Zuko was vs Ghazan haha.

They said Toph went away in search of enlightenment, yes?
Judging by the scenery, I'm going to guess that she went back to the badger moles, her original teachers.

As much as I hope, we need to consider her age. Even tho being the youngest of all the ATLA characters, she's still around 85 (if I counted right) but you're right, she just needs to be awesome.
