Also she could fly with her fire even before Sozin's comet. Azula was the classic prodigy character that worked on raw talent, while Iroh was a venerable old dog of war. Zuko fought her to a stand still at a few points in the series and even Katara nearly took her down at the end of season 2. If you treat bending like any other physical activity, its all about practice and who is in better shape. The reasons the avatar is so powerful is because of a lot of training and an endless amount of raw talent. Even though the avatar may not be able directly contact her past lives, I am willing to be she has a lot of their skills left over.

Avatar also has an exponentially greater amount of options as anyone else. 4 times the amount of bending options, plus any ability to combine bending techniques, and a variety of other options and spirit powers.

Wow. Great episodes. + Show Spoiler + I have to admit, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I actually was half-expecting them to do something tragic to Korra. It ends well, but it has a bitter touch to it - you feel how broken Korra is. I think they're doing the groundwork for the last season, what with Korra losing hope/strength and an entire nation vowing to live by her duty. My guess is: eventually, it'll lead to all the nations doing so, and the Avatar will no longer be needed. Those fights were really kick-ass though. I especially loved Mako vs. Ming-Hua, and how it ended with her biggest strength being her downfall. Once again, Jinora comes to help Korra at the last minute though. Maybe it should be called The Legend of Jinora xD. All and all, I absolutely loved it. It had its weaknesses, what with Korra being saved the way she was and all, but it was the strongest episode of Avatar to date. At least in my opinion. Which makes it more of a shame that its scheduling was absolutely botched by Nick.

Seeing Korra at the ending was heartbreaking. She's probably depressed for what she's been through. ![]()
