His plans fell through, he decided to try and reconcile with his brother, then his brother decided to kill them both. It was a neat little wrap-up for the villains of the season to just make them brothers and have them kill themselves but I didn't really get either character. Well, if he was a fanatical anti-bender, then why wasn't he honest about it? Why did Tarrlock decide to kill them both? Why did he want to remove people's bending in the first place if he was willing to abuse his own?

I think he was less looking to remove all bending, and more looking to subjugate everyone under his rule.

He is still Yakones son, same reason Tarlock did what he did. It was just a power grab. But I think the reason he went with the getting rid of bending is he does mention that he felt the ultimate power was not blood bending but the avatar getting rid of bending. Its just a result of a bad parent lol. I definitely think the weakest part of this series was how fast it went. If they extended this series to the 62(?) episodes TLA was, I think it would have been just as good (imo better). I personally loved the ideas that was used in LOK much more, but with it being rushed... I mean they had two giant fleets and other then them shooting at planes there was really no fights lol.

I personally prefer a more condensed series with no fillers. But some people prefer a longer series thats more drawn out. We'll see what they pull for the second season.

Because LOK was so rushed, the relationships between characters seems really dumb. We know nothing about anyone but Korra and because of that the interactions between characters seems forced.

Good episodes though. Edit: about why Amon would use his bending if he believes in how evil bending is, we see shit like that all the time. People kill each other in the name of peace. PETA leaders use animal based products and medical procedures. I could go on and on.

Exactly, I sang the same song about with it being condensed just means no fillers. (TLA fillers are some of the better fillers since they usually meant character development) but I wasnt against the shorter stuff. But the story they went for here REALLY needed more time. I mean why exactly does Korra like Mako again? What has Mako done that even Asami or Bolin havent done? Its just a pretty face basically. We heard that Asami's mother died, and Mako/Bolins parents died. Easy backstory there, but we know nothing about them. I mean I hear about how TLA was such a great series, and while I love it, I think it gets a bit overrated. I LOVE the series, but I think a big reason is we are 60+ episodes committed to those guys. Here its hard to care. I think a big thing is, the people who loved TLA (like me) probably loved the characters in it. TLA was easily a character driven story, and that part is kind of missing from LOK. Ive said this before, but I love the actual story and plot of LOK (Amon, equalist vs benders etc), but the characters just dont compare.
